1 John 2:1-2 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is! Today didn’t get off to a very good start. I woke several times with very dumb bad dreams. Then a cell phone battery must be dying because it was making noises in the night and woke me. I finally just went ahead and got up at 6:50, made the bed, made coffee and got both girls in and settled down for breakfast. Once they were down for naps, I took my shower. Our shower is very small and it’s quite hard to shave your legs in there. I lifted my foot to stabilize my leg, kicked the handle on the shower door and cut an inch long slice deep into my big toe. It bled and bled. Band-Aids were too small and the toe was still bleeding a lot so I cleaned it up, put on some antibiotic and wrapped it in gauze. Oh does it still throb! In fact, it’s 6:30 and it’s still bleeding. Jim picked up some gauze and tape on his way home from school and I was quite surprised to see fresh blood on the outside of the bandage. In one of my dreams, Jim had bought me a new comforter for my bed. It was bright blue and an ugly purple. He’d spent $1,000 in my dream. That HAD to be a dream because I don’t have that kind of money! The bedspread design was like those ‘cowboy’ type bandanas kids wear. I’d seen someone wearing one on a DIY show yesterday while they painted a room an odd blue and I had talked about loving purples. Jim has very good taste and can buy things for me without even asking if I’d like it. He even bought our Saturn VUE for me five years ago without me ever seeing it; standard transmission and all. The car dealer was so worried I’d not like the car or would not want standard. Jim knows me so very well. How silly was that dream? The daycare day has been way off kilter. One child had been up since 5:00 and wanted to go bed by 8:00. The older one asked to go to bed at the same time. I’m not sure if she slept or how long she may have slept. Anyhow, that had them waking early, eating lunch early and being tired by time mom and dad arrived. I’d planned to start some fall cleaning, but the short and early nap cut into my time I would have had to take down drapes, wash windows and wipe down walls. Maybe tomorrow. We had hash, eggs and hash browns for a quick supper. Nick got to Youth a bit late. I rode along so I could check out the recycle center at church before I wrote and told some friends about it. We also ran to the Post Office and bank. We were gone less than 20 minutes. Have a lovely evening and God Bless, Diane Tavegia

I started some fall cleaning today but didn’t get too much done. My foot hurt and started bleeding again. Nick helped me finish up what I’d started and he did some other things for me, but moving other furniture and cleaning behind it and other heavy jobs will have to wait a few days. So, in our television room, I washed and re-hung the drapes, took down 8 year old Venetian blinds I want to replace, and washed windows. I moved and cleaned behind two bookshelves and the sofa. I cleaned the walls, except behind the computer desk and the entertainment center. Jim will have to help me there. I moved a table lamp and the end table out of the room and also removed a floral arrangement that is too summery. One of Jim’s huge baseball pictures is now down in his office/ music room. I cleaned the baseboards and vacuumed, too. I’d hoped to do one room a day or two so I could be ready to decorate for Christmas by Thanksgiving. Jim will be home that week to help bring up all our Christmas things. Maybe we’ll still be able to get it all done. While doing my kitchen, I’m going to go through the old glasses and my dozens of mugs to get rid of some. I have way too many mugs. I have 8 that are Easter mugs! I have many Christmas mugs and others that the kids bought me over the years. Some are so worn that you can’t see the design anymore. I’m not sure if I have any Tupperware type items to get rid of. We went through those a few years ago. I do have two that were stained by sauce and might toss those. The kitchen is small enough that less will be more. Nick was hungry for brownies, so he baked them today, with no help from me. He did a great job and even cleaned up after himself. I'll help him eat them, tho. Jim and the lady who’ll be head basketball coach are starting to work with the girls today. He’ll not be home until after 5:00. Try-outs will be this coming Monday and practice will start right after that. There are some good shows on television tonight. I don’t know how many I’ll see. I’ve started falling asleep earlier each night. Maybe it’s because it’s getting dark so early. It’ll be much worse once we turn the clocks back! Jim has some school work to complete tonight, as soon as he gets in. I’m not sure how far along he is in his first class. When I looked at the book, he was more than halfway. It’s almost time for the parents to pick up the girls. One is going to be late tonight. They’re always on time or early. The mom found out at lunch time that she’d be running late and called to see if that was a problem. Have a lovely evening and God Bless, Diane Tavegia

I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep, and my sheep know me -- just as the Father knows me and I know the Father -- and I lay down my life for the sheep. John 10:14-15 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. James 3:17 Whew! I woke at 4:45 this morning with a killer sinus headache. I got up and took Sudaphed and started coffee. By 6:00 I went ahead and took a very hot shower. That really helped open my head and ease the pain. I have a bit of vertigo, but that’s not new for me, but the headache went away and didn’t come back. I took Jim to work today so I could keep the car and take Nick for his flu shot. We went by the dump and then dropped off recycling items at church. We were home by 8:45. Hailee had her breakfast and watched a Pooh movie before her nap. The youngest baby didn’t come. Daddy took a vacation day and kept her. She’s a cutie with a very precious spirit. She laughs a ‘machine gun’ sounding laugh. Hailee always gets her going. My toe had bled again last night. The end where the most damage was done is still quite sore. I’m going to try and be more careful for a few days while it closes up more. There’s a bruised spot up near the end, too. It’s going to take a long time for this to heal. OUCH! Jim and I just got in from Wal-Mart. We needed milk, bread and gauze, more Sudaphed and we also got a pizza for the football game tomorrow. Those huge pizzas Wal-Mart makes and sells for less than $7.00 are pretty good. There was a group going in to Wal-Mart right as we were leaving. They were dressed for a Halloween party. Some of the costumes implied vulgarity. It was all adults …. YUK Well, not much else is going on here. I’m going to bed early tonight because I’m very sleepy after a short night last night. Our son who lives locally is buying tires for our car. He pre ordered them and they’re putting them on tomorrow. We’re going to meet him for lunch while they install and balance the tires. Have a lovely evening and God Bless, Diane Tavegia

Psalms 133:1-3 "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, coming down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard, coming down upon the edge of his robes. It is like the dew of Hermon coming down upon the mountains of Zion; for there the LORD commanded the blessing—life forever." We had a beautiful day here in Georgia. It’s a bit chilly and supposed to get near freezing tonight. We haven’t turned on our heat at all this year. I do think I’ll make sure all the windows are closed tonight, tho. Attendance was pretty good in youth but I was missing a lot of girls in 7th Grade Sunday School. I’ll have to make some calls during the week to check on them. I think it might have just been one of those weeks where it felt too good under the covers to get up. Nick had a friend spend Saturday night. He came over early Saturday, before lunch, and they had a really good time. Jim and I both had to get up last night and ask them to keep it down. They were laughing so loud that it woke us up. We’d gone to bed really early and they were racing on PS2. Jim’s college school work is taking a lot of time. He’s doing three to four hours of work each day. After being out of school for almost 40 years, it’s hard to get back in the swing. Yesterday we got the tires put on our car. Jon and Mary got them for us. They took us for lunch at a Mexican restaurant near our house. We had a lot of fun and laughed so hard. Jim and Jon are a mess when they get together. I’m only expecting the two year old tomorrow. The father of the one year old didn’t plan on working overtime this week so he’ll be off on Monday, unless some work need arises. My toe is a bit better. I still have a small amount of bleeding once or twice a day but only when I’ve put pressure on my toe or turned quickly, using that toe area. It’s VERY sore. Because of my sore toe, I have to wear some really old tennis shoes that are big on me. I don’t tie the shoe, either. To give my foot some rest, I took a two hour nap and then just stayed in bed another hour. I’m trying to not walk unless it’s necessary. I didn’t even make the bed today. We had an easy lunch today. We had pizza and chicken nuggets. I just had to heat them. It wasn’t our usual type of Sunday dinner, but again, I wanted to take it easy and give my foot time to close up. I’m thinking grilled cheese and tomato soup for supper. That’s a Sunday night favorite of our family. There’s a good scary kids movie on tonight. Nick and I watched it a few months ago but Jim had missed it. I hope he’s finished with his school work so he can watch it with us. This Wednesday is Trunk and Treat at church. Nick has changed his mind a dozen times about what he wants to be. I’d told him it had to be something we could ‘make’ for free. He’s running out of time! Well, time to make some supper. Have a lovely evening and God Bless, Diane Tavegia

Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. The man who thinks he knows something does not yet know as he ought to know. But the man who loves God is known by God. 1 Corinthians 8:1-3 I woke at 6:00 today. I’d had some bad dreams about people I know being ill or injured. I think it’s because one of our sons had called late last night to tell me a friend from about 9 years ago had died at an early age, being found face down in her home when her family went to find out why she’d not opened her business and wasn’t answering the phone. Alice was a very nice person and I know she’ll be missed. I only had the two year old today in daycare, but she’s very sick with a horrible head cold. Mom couldn’t stay home because she had three doctor’s appointments and also really needed to be at work. She was fine most of the day. My toe is getting better but is sore today. I walked ‘normal’ on it yesterday and then bent it some last night. I think I also remember it being bothered by my heavy quilts last night. It didn’t get quite as cold as expected last night. The house stayed nice and warm. I closed all the windows but didn’t lock them all. Some are very hard to reach. Anyhow, I was way too warm. Jim covered us with two heavy quilts and then wrapped himself all around me. The cat was on the other side of me. I waited until today to bring out our winter clothing and put away the summer things. First I washed everything so I didn’t have to do the job more than once. Most years I swap out clothing too soon and have to pull out lightweight things when it warms back up. I think I’m safe waiting this long. Nick pulled out the storage boxes for me so I didn’t have to bend my foot. Our daughter called and talked for a little while today. I got to talk to our four year old granddaughter, too. She’s only in school half a day. They have a lot of fun things going on between now and Christmas. I also talked to my mother. She’d had a good weekend so was in a very good mood. My Uncle and his wife are looking better. My Aunt sees her orthopedic surgeon today about her foot. She broke it in 15 places in a car wreck back 8 weeks ago. My mother does tend to bring up anything that might ever go wrong or probably will happen at some point and dwell on that until my stomach hurts. Jim was to have girl’s basketball try-outs today but the head coach went home because of a sick child. He wasn’t sure if she’d make it back this afternoon after her husband gets out of school. He’s a teacher elsewhere. If not, Jim will just have the girls practice and they can reschedule try-outs. The head coach actually has coached at the college level. After Jim gets home tonight, we’re going to pick up some college texts he’s being given through Freecycle.org. A college teacher in the next town offered them. We aren’t sure he’ll need the exact books so waited two weeks to see if anyone else spoke for them. He can use them as reference books or extra study if nothing else. After that, we’re taking a winter coat that Nick has outgrown to a family in our church. Their son is a few sizes smaller than Nick and should be able to use this coat a few years. It looks brand new and has an inner liner that zips out for a lightweight coat. A group of women in our church had bought it for Nick a few years ago. I’m glad I was able to pass it on in like new condition. Jim had a Bears jacket that fits Nick. We don’t need coats a lot since we home school. Jim did over seven hours of his college school work yesterday. Wow. I’m quite impressed. I hope he can keep it up and finish really quickly. Can you believe it’s almost November? We’ll put up our outside Christmas decorations on a warm day soon. We always wait until after Halloween because of possible damage but like to get it done early before it’s really cold outside. We don’t always turn them on that early, tho. We have the white wire deer, some trees and a lamp post. Subtle, yet lovely. I haven’t started more fall cleaning because of my foot but did throw out some mementos today from our daughter’s wedding / marriage. I’ll go through the photos later and do some rearranging plus get rid of some that I do not want to keep. It would be hypocritical of me to keep photos of our ex son in law. We’re under a freeze watch for tonight. My mother is going to freak out. Her cabin is winterized but the heater is not on. She leaves it on very low all winter but left there during the summer. She’s also still got an air conditioner in the window that should be removed so cold air doesn’t come in. It’s a two hour drive each way so we won’t be able to go until Jim’s off for Thanksgiving. Jim will go over, do what needs to be done and come right back home. The water’s off so he can’t spend the night. Maybe she can find a local friend to do it for her before then. Jon was there in town just yesterday but my mother is funny about not wanting anyone in her place. Jim is the only one she trusts. What if the door isn’t closed fully? What if someone goes to the bathroom with the water off? What if they don’t set the thermostat right? Well, the two year old’s mother should be here any minute and then it’s time to start supper. Have a lovely evening and God Bless, Diane Tavegia

For He has satisfied the thirsty soul, and the hungry soul He has filled with what is good. Psalms 107:9 So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall! 1 Corinthians 10:12 It got down to 28° here last night. Thankfully, it never dropped below 62° in our house with no heat on. Also, I’d forgotten to close a closet window and hadn’t locked a large number of windows. Hopefully we won’t need to turn on our heat for a couple of months! I’ve began opening any Venetian blinds fully in the afternoon to let the sun warm the front of the house. During the summer that afternoon sun makes some rooms almost unbearable, even with the central air on. I’m thankful that we face west during the winter, tho. Those rooms that are horrible in the summer are well warmed in the winter. For free! I had an early start. I woke about 6:20 and started the coffee. Scooter wanted to go out so I took him for a walk. I had no idea how cold it was. I was plenty warm in just my housecoat and jimmies. Anyhow, I decided not to put him back to bed since Jim would be getting up within the hour. The mother of the two year old called me before 7:00 to say she was taking her daughter to the doctor. Hailee has a bad cough and terrible congestion. The one year old baby arrived quite late today. It was almost 8:00 and mom was in a rush to get the other girls to school and herself to work. I did a load of wash and checked emails while having my coffee. Jim needed something for school so I tried to find what he needed. I found something that would work but it was after he’d left. While searching, I found a number of things I could get rid of at a yard sale and other things to gift on www.freecycle.org The girl’s basketball team is going to have a community wide yard sale as a fund raiser. We’ll rent space to sell our stuff. It’s going to be at the high school and the space, unlimited, is only $10.00 per family. The girls will make good money and we’ll get lots of customers. The only problem we have is that fund raisers have to be approved and there’s a waiting time of up to a month. That would push us toward the end of November or first week of December. It could be very warm or pretty cold. It’ll all be outside, too. I may have a yard sale here and then do that one, too, if I have things left over. As it stands right now, it looks like the fund raiser yard sale may end up being pushed to spring. We’ll see. We’re not getting any color in our leaves. I see a lot of brown appearing and a very, very tiny bit of yellow, but nothing else. I always enjoy the reds and purples so I do miss it this year. We’d talked about going up to Ellijay or Rome to pick some apples but really can’t afford it. It’s going to be pretty chilly for our Trunk or Treat. Thankfully, we can go inside and visit or get some coffee. They’ll cook a few thousand hot dogs, too. Yum! Some Fine dining. Nick keeps changing what he wants to be. He now wants to be a soldier. We have the camouflage pants and a dark green shirt plus an Army flight jacket. We don’t have a camouflage shirt or helmet. He’d like for me to get those but I have no transportation to get to the second hand store and don’t want to spend good money on something to wear for 2 hours. He has a plastic rifle he can carry. I even have a dark green pillow case for his candy. My toe continues to improve. It’s still too sore for any shoe other than the larger tennis shoes with a heavy sock and well padded bandage but it doesn’t bleed any more. It’s also not bruised any more. I have a teeny sty. I get them every few years. This one is very sore if I touch my eye but isn’t noticeable. I’m using hot cloths to try and get it to hurry up and open up. Because of finances being so tight, I use mascara until it runs out. I have some powder eye shadow that is at least 12 years old. I remember where I bought it and we moved away from the state where that store is located 12 years ago today. That’s just asking for trouble. I have a coupon for make up and should use it for mascara and throw out everything that’s old. I am so thrifty! (Okay…. Cheap…. But I have to be!) I’m confused. Jim’s pay shows his pay for basketball. It’s divided over 11 months for a raise of $45.45 BUT he brought home an extra $63.00! That makes NO sense! There’s a lot of good t.v. shows on tonight. Jim should be home within 30 minutes or so and we’ll eat, clean the kitchen and settle down for the night. Keep warm and have a lovely evening! Diane Tavegia 1 Timothy 1:15 “Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst.” If our greatest need had been information, then God would have sent us an educator. If our greatest need had been technology, then God would have sent us a scientist or engineer. If our greatest need had been money, God would have sent us an economist or financial advisor. If our greatest need had been pleasure, God would have sent us an entertainer. But instead of all of these things, God knew our greatest need was forgiveness, so He sent us a Savior.

Proverbs 31:8-9 "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those who are perishing. Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice." Deut. 3:22 Do not fear them: for the LORD your God he shall fight for you. Well I was up again quite early today. I’m hoping I can break this before we turn the clocks back this coming weekend. I sure don’t want to be getting up at 5:00 each day. I was asleep a little after 11:00 last night and slept really hard. I’ll have to force myself to stay up late a few nights, I guess. We’re having a quick supper and then will take Nick to Trunk and Treat at church. We’ve given him the option of also walking through our neighborhood if he’d like. He doesn’t know anyone near his age around here so he can’t walk with anyone. Kids come from the back roads and swarm through here. Jim’s getting home extra early today from basketball practice. The first cuts will be announced today and also they knew the girls would want to leave early because of different functions at local churches or parties. The two year old was a bit better today. She was pulling on her ears, tho. I asked her why and she said ‘My ears are too big. They squeaking’. I gave her some decongestant Mommy had brought. Grandma picked her up about 1:30 so they could get ready for a church party for the kids. I hope she does okay. She is afraid of many things and kids in costumes may not go over well at all. She’s dressing up, too. Nick is so excited that he can hardly stand it. All he’s talked about is ‘Only three hours’ etc. The family of the one year old I keep is going up to our church. Maybe we’ll see them there. Nick’s going to be a soldier. He enjoys playing Call of Duty 3 on his PS2 and I’m sure that’s where he got the idea. All the kids left really early today. I took a short ‘cat nap’ on the sofa while Nick watched some of the Halloween movies on Chiller. I think he’s seen them all today and some more than once. Well Jim should be home in just minutes. Nick’s dressed except for his jacket. We’ll head out just before 6:00 and will be home in time for Criminal Minds. Keep warm if you go out and have a lovely and safe evening! Diane Tavegia

1 Peter 3:15 "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." Proverbs 24:11 "Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering towards slaughter." Did you have a nice evening last night? We enjoyed visiting with church friends. Jim jumped in and helped prepare food for the thousands who came to our Trunk and Treat. I visited with some of the families coming through but spent most of the time visiting with members of the church family. We had five rows of decorated cars, trucks, horse trailers, boats and antique vehicles giving out candy. We got to church just minutes after 6:00 and there were no parking places either in the front, sides or at the plantation home. Jim dropped us off and parked in the far back gravel area. Even there, there were only a few spaces left! There were thousands of people! The church had enough hot dog buns for 1,500 people but we ran out. Someone raided the church kitchen and got all that was in there and then, when those ran out, I got all that were in the youth concession area. We had hot dogs left but ran out of buns a little after 8:00. Nick changed his mind about participating in the Trunk and Treat, deciding he’s too old and spent time just walking around with friends and then playing on and helping deflating the slides and moon bounce type playgrounds at the end of the night. A guy in our church provided four or five bounces for us. He’s opened an indoor playground like a Monkey Joe’s right here in town. It’s called AirJumpUSA and will surely be a great hit! It’s hard to believe it is November already. Thanksgiving comes early in the month so we’ll find a Butterball turkey soon. The larger ones don’t last long in stores around here and we like to make soups and have lots of leftovers. My toe was hurting after all the walking last night. The wound is closing up, which is good, but I still can’t wear a normal shoe and I hate having to wear these ugly tennis shoes. They’re a bit big on me, but leave room for the bandage and thick socks. I hope I can wear a real shoe for church on Sunday. It’ll be a long time before I can wear heels or my nice dress boots. Shucks! Today is Eden’s birthday. She’s 7 years old. She’s one of our granddaughters and lives very far away. I sent her some books and sure hope they arrived in time. I mailed them early but our local mail is problematic. I’ll try to call tonight after they’ve had her party at school and at home and her piñata. She’s Nick’s half sister. Happy Birthday Eden! Nick and I tore the house apart looking for a PS2 game left behind by the child who was over this weekend. The boy would toss the game discs everywhere, when not using them and Jim had to get on to him a few times about how ‘expensive the games are’, ‘shouldn’t mistreat the games’. Well, we finally found his way up under the sleep sofa in our television room. He had borrowed several of Nick’s games so we can return it and pick up Nick’s games. After seeing how he treats games, we won’t allow any more ‘loaning’. So, we’ve had a potty disaster which called for a tub bath, a smashed finger and food thrown everywhere. Both girls have head colds. It has been a very crazy, hectic day. I’ve really not accomplished anything other than child care and very basic chores like making the bed and doing dishes. I kid you not; this has been one of those days. Thankfully, I don’t have many like this! I did cut Nick’s hair and color mine today. Nick’s hair is very thick and course with a touch of curl. It reminds me of his birth father’s hair, if I remember him correctly. Nick’ is 5’5” tall and weighs 106.5 lbs. He’s certainly going to be tall like his birth father. Jim’s been getting home later than I expected each night. Maybe it will change a bit once they’ve had final cuts for the team. Oh, and I figured out the funny pay thing. They’d taken out $24.00 for his background check last month. Well, one child is gone and another one fell asleep in the middle of some toys. Guess I’ll go get some supper started. Have a lovely evening. Diane Tavegia Sunday, November 4th: FALL BACK - Turn Your Clock Back One Hour and Change Your Smoke Alarm Batteries, Too! 83% of all fire-related deaths are a result of home fires, and an average of three children a day die in these fires. An early warning from a smoke alarm can provide critical extra seconds to escape, but only if they have fresh batteries and work properly! For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. He paid for you with the precious lifeblood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. God chose him for this purpose long before the world began, but now in these final days, he was sent to the earth for all to see. And he did this for you. 1 Peter 1:18-20 NKJV

1 Peter 2:11-12 Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul. Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us. I re-started fall cleaning today, staying away from any job that required me pushing or using my foot in any way. My plan right now is to have Jim take down my Nutcrackers tomorrow so I can begin cleaning them. They’re quite fragile now, from age, and I have to dust gently and use Q-tips in some areas. I’ll do a little at a time so as not to rush and he can put them back up for me next weekend. I don’t do well on ladders because of vertigo. I’m cleaning out cabinets and drawers as I clean each area and separating things into keep, toss, give away or sell at a yard sale. I’ve also gone through our vitamins and pain relievers, throwing away anything that is out of date. I’m not dreading going through the kitchen cabinets but I am dreading cleaning out the home school book and folder storage area. I failed to go through things the last year or more and have a lot of decisions to make. Of course, once that’s done, I’ll have a lot of freed up storage. My fall cleaning time is limited because of my keeping little ones. I can’t leave them unattended so have to do my big chores while they nap or are at the table near me. Jim only has 10 more school work days before he has 9 days off. He’s almost finished with one section of his college work that needed to be completed by Dec. 15th. His plan is to finish it by Thanksgiving. I hope he can do it. He’s got practice every afternoon and Saturdays. I won’t have one of the daycare kids for much or all of that time. That’ll make it quieter. So, speaking of this month, I’m going to the dentist on the 21st. It’s been a couple of years since I’ve had a check up. I did go in last February and had to have a tooth pulled because we’d just lost our dental insurance. I’m praying I don’t have any work to be done; tho I do think I have a cavity. I have a lot of dental problems and always have had a lot of cavities since childhood. My teeth are beautiful, only weak, I guess. I started clenching and grinding my teeth very badly and about five years ago I broke two loose from the bone! I’ve never been able to stop this habit. It happens while I sleep. I have several mouth guards that I have to rotate because they throw my bite off if I don’t. I still wake with very painful teeth a few days a week. I’m dental phobic. Then, on November 29th I have my mammogram. I had to cancel my appointment seven months ago because Jim had been laid off unexpectedly and we couldn’t afford the specialist, ultrasound and mammogram. I’d had some pinpoint microcalcifications a few years ago that the local people felt were benign but they referred me to a specialist for her opinion after they did repeat mammograms and neither they nor the computer could say for sure. She saw me every six months a few times and then moved me to yearly. I had to miss the second year. She’d pronounced me fine, tho. I’m praying this one is unchanged and only good reports. I know I’ll be a bit anxious. Jim will take off and take me because her office is downtown Atlanta. You have to allow up to five hours for the visit. It’s just gorgeous here. It gets cool at night but up to the upper 60°’s during the afternoon. I just love this time of year. We’re starting to see a few orange leaves. I’m afraid the drought may have robbed us of much color, tho. I’ve got some good shows on television tonight. Hope I can stay awake. I woke at 5:30 and never got back to sleep. Scooter needed to go out. We give him treats before bed and Jim had bought some cheap baloney for him. Too salty, I think. I did lie back down but once it hit 6:00, it made no sense to me to try and sleep for 45 minutes. I’ll grab a nap this weekend to prepare for the time change. That reminds me, I always turn the clocks on Saturday and we ‘live’ on that time in preparation for church on Sunday. It’s always worked well, with us never being early, late or too tired. Try it! That all being said, the girls will be gone really soon and Jim will be home for supper. Have a lovely evening. Diane Tavegia I hope you’ll enjoy this thought for today: Today upon a bus, I saw a lovely maid with golden hair; I envied her—she seemed so happy, and how, I wished I were so fair. When suddenly she rose to leave, I saw her hobble down the aisle; she had one foot and wore a crutch, but as she passed, a smile. I prayed, Oh God, forgive me when I complain, for I have two feet. And when I stopped to buy some sweets, the lad who served me had such charm; he seemed to radiate good cheer, his manner was so kind and warm. I said, "It's nice to deal with you, such courtesy I seldom find." He turned and said, "Oh, thank you sir." And then I saw that he was blind. Oh, God, forgive me when I complain, for I have two eyes. Then, when walking down the street, I saw a child with eyes of blue; he stood and watched the others play, it seemed he knew not what to do. I stopped a moment, then I said, "Why don't you join the others, dear?" He looked ahead without a word, and then I knew he could not hear. Oh God, forgive me when I complain, for I have two ears. With feet to take me where I'd go, with eyes to see the sunsets glow, with ears to hear what I would know, I am blessed indeed. Oh God, forgive me when I complain. Romans 12:1 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” Sunday, November 4th: FALL BACK - Turn Your Clock Back One Hour and Change Your Smoke Alarm Batteries, Too!

He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true" Revelation 21:3-5 "But You, O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory, and the One who lifts my head." Psalms 3:3 I woke at 7:00 but did go back to sleep until a few minutes after 8:00. Jim got up earlier, listened to some music for a while took trash to the dump and did some yard work as soon as it was light out. He couldn’t cut the grass because the dew was too thick and grass too wet. He wanted to do that later today, but didn’t get around to it. We found standing water in some window boxes I’d taken down and some flower pots I’d emptied, so we got those dumped. I plan to trim the shrubs in the small flower bed sometime this weekend. I’ve planned to do that since it cooled down, tho. There’s Black Widow Spiders in that flower bed and I’m scared of those and Brown Recluse. The chilly weather doesn’t kill them. We’d caught a Black Widow about five years ago, kept her in a jar on the deck with no air, no water or food and she’d be frozen in the morning but thaw out in the sun. She lasted five months before she died! Nick and I turned back every clock we could reach. We have one that is too high for us. Jim will get that one later today. We’ll live the whole day on the new time. That’ll make tomorrow much easier. Jim took Nick over to AirJumpUSA today. He had saved up some money and really wanted to go. They have wide screen plasmas and WI-FI so Jim won’t be too bored. It’s only a couple of miles from our house. I’m so glad this opened in town. A family from church owns it. I’m still doing a little fall cleaning each day. We always put things away, so there are never piles or junk lying around. My problem is the red dust/ clay. I removed some flower pots from one of the kitchen windows today and realized the window sills are coated orange from the clay seeping in around the windows. I left it for later because to clean the window sills, which are in a V shape up behind the kitchen sink, I have to get a step ladder and then climb up onto the counter. Not exactly what I’d like to start on a family weekend. I’ll do those when I bleach the counter tops this coming week. Our daughter is going to try and come for their clothing and toys either at Thanksgiving or between the two holidays. I think the four year old will come. I’m not sure about the older girl. I’ve got their things together in our rec room but we really need the room now that I use that area for the daycare naps. I’ve got two Pack ‘n Plays set up. I’ve thought of moving their things into the garage, two car when we only have one car, but didn’t want to do that before we have our yard sale so nothing gets accidentally sold. I took a short nap late this afternoon and will try and stay up a bit later tonight so I’ll not awaken too early tomorrow. I’ll do the same thing tomorrow. I’ll have both girls on Monday because the one father is working overtime. I wore a real shoe today, tho I still padded the cut area on my toe and wore thick socks. It felt fine. I’ve run out of gauze. I’m hoping that won’t be a problem for church tomorrow. I do have Band-Aids so I can cover that area. Have a lovely evening and be sure to change your clocks so you won’t leave for church an hour early. Diane Tavegia For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “I will praise You; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are Your works; and that my soul knows right well.” Psalm 139:14 Well my plan to stay up later and sleep in worked quite well. I woke at 7:30, just before my clock was to go off. I walked the dog and made some coffee before jumping in the shower. My hair takes a lot longer to dry now that it’s long. Then I curl it. Anyhow, we were still on time to church and our lovely janitor had turned on the heat for us this week. That was a blessing! We have to be extra early to make pancakes, get the lights on, music going and hot chocolate water ready. Many of our youth arrive at 9:30 because their parents are teachers for other age groups. Sunday School for everyone else begins at 9:45. Wow, we had a huge turnout in our youth Sunday School today. I had seven 7th grade girls and we had another 6 or more 8th grade girls. Our lesson was on accountability for our sins. I sure love this series. It’s from Lifeway and is called Fuel. Jim and Nick both had minor stomach aches today. I think it was a spicy food we’d eaten. Anyhow, we just ate light today. That was fine with me. I have chicken thawed out for tomorrow night’s supper. Nick brought his Wii upstairs. It never got played being downstairs. He has had a lot of fun playing games tonight. We didn’t do much today. Jim watched a bunch of football games. Nick and I both took short naps. Scooter was asleep on my leg so I couldn’t get very comfortable. Jim had only 10 school days until Fall Break. He has off 9 days in November. I’m taking advantage of that and going to the dentist for a cleaning and check up. I’m praying I don’t have any cavities. I’m concerned that one molar may be cracked. I sure wish I could overcome the bruxism. I’ll have both girls Monday through Friday this week. I had hoped to get more fall cleaning done. I laundered my living room and kitchen curtains yesterday. I need to wash those windows and iron the curtains. I’ll get that done early tomorrow. We didn’t get the Nutcrackers down. I didn’t ask. Jim was really enjoying his football games and he has so few hours to himself. Boy was it windy today! It got below freezing last night and is to again tonight. I like that because it kills mosquitoes and other bugs. I’d especially like it if the spiders were sluggish because of the cold. We still need to finish some yard work and then put out our Christmas decorations. I called our son who lives in the next town about Thanksgiving. I asked them to consider having dinner at their home. It’s much larger than mine and they have a huge dining room table plus an even larger great room and patio area. They could seat us all, even if our daughter and her girls come. Also, we can’t afford to prepare for everyone by ourselves this year. Dinner cost for a group that size might be $200.00 worth of food. OUCH. We’ll start watching for a huge turkey in the next week. It’s not long now! I left a message. Well, Nick and I are going to work on the rec room this week. I think we’ve decided to move our daughter’s things into a storage area so we can go through my craft items and all Nick’s old toys to prepare for a yard sale, find items to gift and rearrange. I certainly need a little more room for the Pack n Plays. Not much going on today or tonight. I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend and an even better week. Please say a prayer for a young friend who has found a very suspicious mole. She sees the dermatopatholigist on Monday to have it biopsied. She’s a young mother who suffers from extreme anxiety. She’s unable to eat, sleep or enjoy her family because of this. She asked for prayer. Keep well and God bless, Diane Tavegia For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. Isaiah 58:10-12 "Feed the hungry and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as day. The LORD will guide you continually, watering your life when you are dry and keeping you healthy, too. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring. Your children will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities. Then you will be known as the people who rebuild their walls and cities." "Even so, let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:16 I got distracted and never completed my blog on Monday so herein find two days worth of my thoughts. MONDAY: Jim woke at 5:30 so I had to walk the dog. I thought I didn’t fall back asleep, but the clock went off at 7:00 and I realized I was dreaming that I was up and doing chores. I did more fall cleaning right away today with plans to make a plan. I got the spring and summer clothes put away. I’d had to wait for Jim to go through his things and decide what he didn’t want kept out. He did that for me on Sunday while watching football. I think I’ll have to head down to the rec room and make some decisions there so we can have that yard sale this weekend or quite soon. I’ll let the weather guide me. If it’s too cold, no one will come out. Anyhow, there’s a toy box that needs to be gone through and a number of things on the shelves that Nick doesn’t want anymore. He’s got a huge Power Ranger collection I could put on Ebay. I’ll research and decide. Sometimes it’s just not worth the trouble. I’d love to find a place to sell my AVON dishes. I’ve got a dinnerware set for 17. It’s called ‘Winter in the Country - The Old Grist Mill’ and is encircled in gold. I’ve got the dinner plates, dessert plates, bowls, cup and saucer, sugar and creamer for 17 people. It’s from 1981 and only a few plates have ever been used. I’ve seen ONE plate for $5.99 and know what I’d LIKE to get but have no idea where to go to sell this. It was a limited release so there’s probably not a great demand for ‘pieces’. Not that I’d sell one piece at a time. I bought 17 because I was afraid the kids might break something and they never did. One of the kids left really early today. Her mother had a doctor’s appointment. The other usually leaves early on Monday, if she comes at all. Jim’s been later than I’d expected so far at basketball practice but he and the head coach have been choosing the team. Also, he went one afternoon to check out team shoes. That throws off our suppertime quite a bit. We’re expecting some 20° weather tomorrow night and possibly a few nights. I do hope our house stays warm enough that we don’t have to turn on the heat. If I do turn it on, I’ll set it at 62°. We’ve gotten up to that temperature a number of days and been fine. Once the sun comes up, the house warms quickly. I can’t afford the heat this year. Burger King ripped us off yesterday. Jim picked up 3 Whopper Jrs., 3 small fries and 1 small shake. He used our debit card and they charged us twice. They have their phone turned to fax so I can’t call to see how to handle it. Thankfully I check our bank account regularly after our daughter had ordered a dress from my phone and Chadwick’s ‘joined me’ to some club for $10.00 a month! Gosh, when you’re really low income, every dollar counts! Matthew 17:20 "And He said* to them, "Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you." Mathew 19:26 "And looking at them Jesus said to them, "With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." Mark 10:27 "Looking at them, Jesus said* , "With people it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God." TUESDAY: Jim went to Burger King for a refund and the manager said he wasn’t able to do that. He gave us the corporate office phone number and said to call them Tuesday for a refund. Jim had taken the receipt and a print out of our bank account to show the charges, but no help. The fella could have just given him gift certificates! Oh Well! Sometimes being nice doesn’t work. We’ll not go there again! ACK~ our debit card number was stolen and is being used all over New York! Several charges were to Burger King’s and the other places. This morning, a charge of $45.00 was made at Jamaican Flavors in Greenwich Village! Gives new meaning to ‘Have it your way’. The clock woke me today. I’d gotten to sleep by 11:00 or a few minutes after, so I’m getting a lot of quality sleep right now. I do sleep so well when it’s cool! Speaking of cool, it’s going to be very cold tonight and tomorrow. I’m hoping I can get by without turning on the gas heat. Once it’s on, it’s hard to turn it back off and Jim tends to slowly turn it warmer and warmer until Nick and I are unable to breathe and I can’t afford the heating bills. OUCH. Jim needs me to do some online research; locate and print out some articles he has to cite in his school paper. I’ll do that while trapped with the girls late this afternoon. I’m hoping I can find those articles for free. Some places make you pay to read and that means searching, searching, searching. Well, I did the searching for articles and it wasn’t very easy. Some articles we were given to choose from were from the early 1990’s. I was finally able to come up with 21 articles for him to use. That’s what was required. I got them all for free, too. It took me four hours to find and print those out. I’ll be glad when he finishes this critical thinking course. I’m going to guess that Jim will go to the police station tonight. The bank suggested we file a report but the PD won’t take complaints over the phone. Well, there are a lot of good shows on television tonight. I do need to iron four valances and get them back up. It’s not safe to do that when the girls are running around or the dog, for that matter. I’ll enlist Jim’s help. Keep well, keep warm and God bless, Diane Tavegia When making out your Christmas card list this year, please include the following: A Recovering American soldier c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center 6900 Georgia Avenue NW Washington ,D.C. 20307-5001 For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. Psalm 51:17 “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.” Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Wednesday I woke at 5:30 because I heard our dog moving around. I took him out and was surprised that it didn’t feel that cold to me. We did live up north for 13 years, tho. It was 31° with a wind chill much colder. Tonight it’s to get to 25°. I went right back to sleep until the clock went off at 7:00. One child was early and one child was late but I was able to get my coffee made and clear out my emails before they arrived. I turned on the heat last night, but didn’t tell Jim. I set it on 62° and I did hear it come on once or twice this morning. Nick and I are quite comfortable with it that temperature in the house. I’m sure hoping we can deal with it all winter. If it were a wet cold, it would be quite a different story! There’s no way we can afford to heat our home this year. I called our bank as soon as they opened. Two of the New York charges are still pending so I have to wait until those clear to do the paper work to dispute the charges. The lady said she’d have them email the paperwork to her, have Jim come in and sign it and she’d fax it back across. It will STILL take 7 to 10 business days after that for our money to be returned. That’s going to cause me problems, but nothing we can’t live with. I’ll have some late fees. ARGH! Jim and I went to the Police Department last night and talked to an officer who explained to us how credit cards or debit card are cloned. He said it’s a big problem in our area. After we left, he and another officer were going to Burger King to see if the kid who took Jim’s card information was on duty. They planned to search him for a handheld scanner used in these scams. I hope they were able to catch him and keep him from stealing from someone else. After the police department, I had to find (offered to find) more articles for Jim’s school work. I’d misunderstood and he needed four references for each section instead of three. I was able to find some that could be used more than once so it didn’t take me very long. After that, we watched Bones, House, Law and Order and planned to watch NCIS. I didn’t stay awake for the end of Law and Order and didn’t see one minute of NCIS. That’s one of my favorite shows but Jim and Nick love Bones. I’ll see all the NCIS shows in reruns, I’m sure. I’ve done a little in the rec room today. I see that I can put some craft things on Freecycle and take out some ‘too young’ toys in the yard sale and lose a lot of storage shelves, giving us a huge amount of room. In fact, we have four large shelving units and only need 1 ½. Since these are heavy duty plastic ones from Home Depot, they can be put to good use in our garage storage area and I can get rid of some wooden tables I’ve been using for Christmas décor, etc. We really should use the rec room for a family room. It’s huge and perfect but we use a teeny upstairs bedroom instead. Hmmmmmmm Keep well, keep warm and God bless, Diane Tavegia When making out your Christmas card list this year, please include the following: A Recovering American soldier c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center 6900 Georgia Avenue NW Washington ,D.C. 20307-5001

"But even if I am being poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and share my joy with you all. You too, I urge you, rejoice in the same way and share your joy with me." Philippians 2:17-18 Then Jesus said to his disciples: "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!" Luke 12:22-24 “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” Matthew 6:34 “Cast all your anxiety on Him (Jesus) because He cares for you”. 1 Peter 5:7 The clock woke me at 7:00, yet it felt way too early to get up. I’d slept well and was asleep just a few minutes after 10:00. The office manager of my breast care specialist called this morning. My doctor is going to take off several weeks, right during my appointment time. Since I’m already seven months late having my mammogram and ultrasound, Doctor wanted me to see another surgeon in her office instead of waiting until her next open appointment in March. One of the other doctors in her office can see me on November 20th. That’s during Jim’s fall break from school/ work so he can take me without having to lose a day at work. That’s less than two weeks from now and the day before my dental check-up. Speaking of Jim’s work, he’s teaching two math classes a day right now. They’re down a teacher and the substitute doesn’t know how to do the math so he’s teaching two periods. He’s really enjoying it. Are you ever overwhelmed by tiny things? I was today. Of course, my family would never notice because I’m not an emotional person, but a laundry mishap just about overpowered me. I did a load of whites and when I went to put them in the dryer, I found a cream colored turtleneck shirt I’d bought at Wal-Mart last year had gotten twisted with one of my only two cheap bras, also from Wal-Mart, and both were stretched out of shape. I rewashed in super hot water, hoping to salvage the turtleneck but the loss of maybe $9.00 worth of my meager clothing was almost enough to make me cry. I’m not sure why this was so overwhelming to me except it was my only white bra and the shirt was one of my only shirts in good enough condition to be used for church. My mother is very upbeat now that her dental work and healing is almost finished. I spoke with her today and she told me about a shopping trip, eating out, and plans for world wide trips, things she wants to do around her main home, her vacation home and plans to look for a condo in Florida. Speaking of my mother, she needs us to go to her vacation cabin to turn on the pilot light on her heater and remove a window air conditioner. It is two hours each way, and we can’t stay overnight in her cabin. Jim said he’ll do it during his week off from school and will just come straight home. It’s a gorgeous vacation area and she has a lovely mountainside home with two bedrooms, two baths and is a two story tall home on stilts over a ridge. She goes there a few months out of the year. Night and Day. Black and White. Poe -tay -toe, Poe -tah -toe. All of the stolen charges haven’t cleared our bank yet, so we cannot do the paperwork to start and reclaim the money stolen from us. Since it takes 7 – 10 working days, I’d hoped we could do the paperwork today and not run into several weekends and possibly the Thanksgiving Holiday. Monday is already a bank holiday. Our church has hired a full time administration minister and moved one of the secretaries to a full time Director of Children’s Ministry position and then hired a full time secretary to replace her. Whatever does an administration minister DO? We really needed to hire a Youth Minister. I went with Jim to pick up a few groceries, drop off a bill payment and then pick up Nick from Youth Group last night. I was quite shocked at how many of our neighbors have their homes decorated for Christmas. We’re talking major lighting and displays. It’s pretty, tho. Well, more clothes are ready to be folded and I need to do some prep work for supper. Keep well, keep warm and God bless, Diane Tavegia When making out your Christmas card list this year, please include the following: A Recovering American soldier c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center 6900 Georgia Avenue NW Washington, D.C. 20307-5001 Ephesians 1:4-5 Even before He made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.
