Hi Deb, I do not plan on going to the Esplanade at all. I tend to avoid crowds whenever possible. I have in the past seen the fireworks over the Mass Ave Bridge though. Its not too crowded there and if you have a radio it is a nice way to see the fireworks as well.

bride48 -> RE: Your Humbling Comments (7/4/2008 5:26:40 PM)

Saw in other threads that you're not feeling well, Mike. Sorry to hear that. Guess you'll watch fireworks on TV after all.[:(]

humbleinspirit -> RE: Your Humbling Comments (7/4/2008 5:31:26 PM)

Yes, if I am even still awake at that point. This is a bummer because I seriously considered doing a boat cruise and seeing them from the boat instead. Oh well, there is always next year.

Oh btw, did you hear that the Longfellow Bridge (also aptly nicknamed the salt shaker) is in such bad repair that they are not allowing the crowds to see the fireworks from there this year at all? I have been on the bridge in the past, and you get a great view from there. Oh well. [:o]

bride48 -> RE: Your Humbling Comments (7/4/2008 5:33:36 PM)

Yep, I did hear that.

saraimay75 -> RE: Your Humbling Comments (7/4/2008 6:29:15 PM)

Hope you get better Mike.

humbleinspirit -> RE: Your Humbling Comments (7/4/2008 6:29:36 PM)

Thanks Sara!

humbleinspirit -> RE: Your Humbling Comments (7/4/2008 6:45:23 PM)

Ok, I am having forums blur now, however somebody in one of these threads suggested that I have Chicken Soup. Deb, I think it was in your thread but I am not sure.

Anyway, I do have one packet of cup of soup here, so I will be heating it up shortly. I am signing off now but I will catch y'all again when I am online next. (which could be later this evening or tomorrow instead.)

In any case, have a great evening everyone!

vmginny -> RE: Your Humbling Comments (7/4/2008 9:20:00 PM)

Hi Mike,
I haven't gone back to read why you are sick but did read you are. What a bummer to be sick on the 4th. I hope that cup of soup helps.

My hubby is sleeping. He does that a lot as he suffers from being in an advanced state of nonalcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. My daughter asked if I was going to the fireworks and I said I'll pass this year. The neighbor is shooting some off in his front yard. His wife is dying of bone cancer and can't get out so he's doing some for her in the front yard.

Hope all you are dealing with is a 24 hour bug and you'll be better tomorrow.

Take care and God bless,
Ginny

humbleinspirit -> RE: Your Humbling Comments (7/5/2008 1:23:53 PM)

Hi Ginny, thank you for stopping by! Sorry to hear about your husband and friend! Those things are hard to deal with for sure!

I am now have had this cold/virus since Tuesday evening. A week ago Thursday my boss comes into work sick and when I asked him if he was going to the Dr's, he said something to the effect that he didn't need one. [8|] Then he was out Friday, and now a few of us are sick also.[:o] I have to forgive my boss because I really do believe it is his fault that I am sick right now.

The germs could have been there before anyone got sick. You boss just encouraged the sickness[;)]

humbleinspirit -> RE: Your Humbling Comments (7/5/2008 1:41:53 PM)

Hi Sara, maybe so, however if he had gone by Mike's position of working ethics, then he would have not come into work, and thus got everyone else sick. However, he ascribes to the "come in unless you're dying" work ethic, one which I highly disagree with.

saraimay75 -> RE: Your Humbling Comments (7/5/2008 2:01:01 PM)

Sadly I know what you mean. A couple of my classmates who work in preschools have gotten sick. It pretty much goes a long with the job when you work with young children. Anyhoo, when they got sick they have not been allowed to take time off. Their bosses insisted they come in otherwise they would be short staffed. and as long as you did not talk to the parent that it was fine. Unfortunatly this was kinda difficult because when you working as a preschool teacher parents want to talk to you. And you as a teacher want to talk to parents.

humbleinspirit -> RE: Your Humbling Comments (7/5/2008 2:20:06 PM)

Now Sara, that is even a worse policy!

bride48 -> RE: Your Humbling Comments (7/5/2008 5:04:39 PM)

We ask our attendants not to come if they're sick. We both have compromised breathing, so colds are a bit more serious for us than they are for most people.

humbleinspirit -> RE: Your Humbling Comments (7/5/2008 5:24:29 PM)

To be honest, this cold is causing me to have some difficulty breathing and thats got me worried. I am going to be careful and see how it goes. If I find myself getting worse then I will go to the Emergency Room, however that is always fun. [8|]

bride48 -> RE: Your Humbling Comments (7/5/2008 5:26:54 PM)

Especially on weekends.[8|]

humbleinspirit -> RE: Your Humbling Comments (7/5/2008 5:31:52 PM)

Yeah, easily at least a 4 to 6 hour wait, plus parting with $50 too because I will likely not be admitted and only sent home instead. I will just wait until Monday and see how I feel if I can.

groom52 -> RE: Your Humbling Comments (7/5/2008 6:03:17 PM)

I hope you recover quickly and don't have to pay a visit to the emergency room to be checked out. But when it comes to breathing, that is something you kinda like to have working properly.

About the only way to get attention fairly quickly in an emergency room is to to come in by ambulance and either bleeding profusely or being in the middle of a heart attack. Other than that you just got wait your turn. Broken bones don't count...as I have found out the hard way.

I do hope you get feeling much better real quick, Mike.

humbleinspirit -> RE: Your Humbling Comments (7/5/2008 6:07:11 PM)

Hi John and thanks! I am feeling better at the moment, albiet still tired and a minor headache, etc. The breathing could be from the cold medicine as it said that is one of the side effects and to stop taking it if that occurs. I think that the hard of breathing has to do with stuff in my throat instead though.

In the past I got quick treatment at the ER when I had broken my arm. It broke in such a way where it was behind my back and I could not sit in the car to the hospital at all, so I was transported by ambulance instead. Things went very quick then and I was in and out of the hospital within just 3 hours. God is good!

groom52 -> RE: Your Humbling Comments (7/5/2008 6:14:30 PM)

Glad you're feeling better, Mike.

I guess if you're going to break a bone might as well do it in a way the requires going to the ER by ambulance so as to get better service. [:D]

humbleinspirit -> RE: Your Humbling Comments (7/5/2008 6:17:15 PM)

Yes, I later found out that all Ambulance arrivals to the E/R get bumped to the top before anyone else. I mean I could have otherwise been there most of the night!

bride48 -> RE: Your Humbling Comments (7/5/2008 6:17:48 PM)

John broke his leg 20 minutes after he proposed. We spent nine hours in ER.

humbleinspirit -> RE: Your Humbling Comments (7/5/2008 6:18:47 PM)

Yikes Deb, that sounds very painful, even more painful than a broken arm!

Wow!! How did he do that?

Hope you don't have to go to the ER. And that you are feeling better soon. Are you congested too? My mom always tells me to put my face over steam with a towel wrapped around the boiling water so that the steam clears up the congestion. Never done it though. Mom always likes to give advice and I guess I've just done that too. Hope you don't mind.
