That's the nicest elevator on the Red Line, I'll admit. But we can't get on or off the trains unless an MBTA official helps us. Boston Center for Independent living is pressuring them to lower the platform.

Hi Deb, hopefully they will fix that soon! But it doesn't surprise me being the MBTA and all.

Hi Joy, yes both Deb, John and I are planning to meet again in Boston somewhere. We originally met last Fall which was quite nice! One ironic thing is that I seen both Deb and John one time before that near my work, but they didn't really know who I was yet and I didn't want to freak them out by saying "hi, I'm Mike from Crosswalk!"

In other news I made it through yet another week. I am tired, the weather has been been rather blustery, and I am not happy at all about that! That and I seem to missing some people around Crosswalk as well.

Yes, Joy. We met Mike at South Station and had Pizza Regina. He had to go back to work, so John and I took a train to Back Bay and toured Trinity Church. Did I tell you we did that, Mike?

I am glad that you do, I am quite bored with the city at this point, but then again I was born here. I find exploring San Francisco quite interesting though.

But it is still nice seeing the views though. I really feel that I have not given that city and its suburbs justice yet at all.

Are you in San Francisco? My youth pastor went there and sent me back a postcard. I heard it was really hilly.

Slushie! I've missed you!

Mike visited San Francisco last summer, but he's here in Boston now. I'm a native of San Francisco, and lived just across the Golden Gate Bridge in Marin County for 48 years (well, except the two misspent years in Memphis when I was ages 43 and 44). At age 48, I moved to Boston to marry John, and poor Mike can't figure out why on earth I think Boston offers more than San Francisco!

Yes, SF is very hilly, at least in the Downtown section. This surprised me as it was even more hilly than Boston, which can be quite hilly as well!

Deb, you lived in Memphis too? I guess you didn't like it there much.

I went to Memphis with the ex-gay ministry I'd been working for in Marin. Trouble was, when Medicaid was instituted in the 1960s, the then governor of Tennesee allocated all those monies to nursing homes rather than attendant care (it just "happened" that his family owned a string of nursing homes). So, disabled adults of all ages generally live in nursing homes.

The brochure made the home I lived in out to be more like a home than an institution. It did have private rooms, which I liked, but it was pretty awful. My outside friends rarely visited me, and most of the residents were socially retarded. I ended up engaged to a resident who claimed to be Christian, but was really just a good actor. God finally made it clear that staying there would continually subject me to emotional abuse from the nursing staff, so I put the engagement on hold, resigned from the job I loved, and retuned to Marin "temporarily." (My thinking was very warped at that point in time.) While I was home, my fiance dumped me.

Two months later, I met John online!

Very sad to hear about your tough time in Memphis, but good to hear about meeting John though.

Well, the South was nice, at least. People down there have excellent manners. I miss that!

So the other day I was thinking of playing an April Fool's joke here. I was going to say that I was engaged! And was gonna come up with a name and everything! I even thought about maybe getting a friend involved in on the hoax. I decided in the end not to do this though.

It would have been funny, Mike! I'm so sorry you changed your mind. I played that April Fool's joke in college. I happened to wear a ring on my left hand, anyway, and I showed a photo of my cousin's roomate.
