Yeah Deb, I happened to peek outside and notice that there was snow on the ground. I was like I didn't hear anything about snow at all!

Natalie Grant has a song called "Held" which is a true story about someone going through very difficult losses, and God holding them.

Yeah! That's the song. They had interviewed her and she talked about this story and writing the song, then she sang it. There were a lot of tears on the way to work that morning.

Have a great work week!

You know, I truely do not understand the lyrics to that song. To me it sounds like a bunch of half-thought lyrics that don't really make a story. I am listening to it now with the lyrics in front of me and I still don't get it.

It took me a little while to figure the song out too. I have come to the conclusion that when the lyrics say "this is what it means to be held" that Jesus is holding people in His hands during their pain.

Yes, that is what she said in her interview. It is such an amazing feeling to know He is holding us throughout our most difficult times. I wonder ...... perhaps with all I have been through, the song holds a lot of significance to me.

I got to know Natalie Grant's music through special of hers on The Gospel Music Channel. They interviewed her and she did a live concert. It was enough for me to pick up her CD. She has a new one coming out in less than a month. I plan on buying it when it does.

Yes, but what does the rest of the song mean besides "this is what it means to be held"?

Who told us we’d be rescued?
What has changed and why should we be saved from nightmares?
We’re asking why this happens
To us who have died to live?
It’s unfair.

This hand is bitterness.
We want to taste it, let the hatred numb our sorrow.
The wise hand opens slowly to lillies of the valley and tomorrow.

It's a really sad song, that's for sure. But behind the sadness, we see God holding us together. That's what I get out of the song.

This morning I read Psalm 12:5 "Because of the devastation of the afflicted, because of the groaning of the needy, Now I will arise," says the LORD; "I will set him in the safety for which he longs."

This is what the song means to me, how my mind interprets it. I hope that helps a little.

Who told us we’d be rescued?
What has changed and why should we be saved from nightmares?

God told us, it's His grace and mercy, His great love for us that saves us; the nightmare being the lives we live here on earth, all that we have to endure

We’re asking why this happens
To us who have died to live?
It’s unfair.

Why? Yes, I ask Him why pretty regularly. Why is this happening to me? What am I suppose to be learning through this experience? What do You want me to do? How do You want me to act? Life is unfair, sometimes sooooooooo unfair! But, what we need to remember is that God knows the entire picture, we only know a tiny portion. That's why we need to keep our eyes focused on Him, keep our trust in Him always ...... we have died to self to live for His sake, to shine His light into the world ........ even when it feels like life is so unfair. He holds us through all these trials, all these hard times, and in return, through giving our trust in Him, He is able to use us for His glory. Asking "Why Lord?" with a humble heart, really wanting to know why, to understand, is a truly wonderful thing!

This hand is bitterness.
We want to taste it, let the hatred numb our sorrow.

Life is bitter. Sometimes we want to just drown in our sorrow ...... we are filled with hatred due to those feeling of "It's unfair! Why me?" and we just go with the flow. Rather doing what is sometimes the more difficult thing, and trusting in God, we try to drown ourselves, liquor, drugs, bad behavior.

The wise hand opens slowly to lillies of the valley and tomorrow.
The Bible tells us to gain wisdom, knowledge ..... that is what this is about. Giving our lives to God, trusting Him to be in charge, opens us to the great beauty He so wants to give us.

I hope that helps ...... again, it's just what it means to me, what I have learned through my trials.

God is so awesome!!!

Boy, I miss Boston, Mike! That stupid groundhog saw his shadow today, though...six more weeks of winter. I'm looking forward to riding the Red Line to Downtown Crossing. Is Qdoba's still on Sumner Street?

There used to be a good mexican food place in Quincy, and a good place in Boston as well, but I believe both have closed now though. There is a Tex-Mex place in Faneuil Hall as well, but its in the basement though.

Any time, Mike! Did you get much snow? I didn't look out the window today, so I don't know how much we got.

Hi Deb, it looked like we only got rain here. It is just as well as my back hasn't been feeling well and I decided to take the day off anyway.
