My daughter mentioned something like this last week. One of her classmate always have a problem getting up early in the morning, so, his mom dumped a bucket of cold water on him. The boy just laughed at his mom and said, "ha ha, now you have to do laundry". LOL. What do you do with a kid like that?

I wouldn't do the laundry. He should be doing his own laundry at that point anyway. It's only cold water so it doesn't even really need washing...just drying.

I have found that one of those Air Horns....works wonders! Nothing like askign them to get up....they auto reply, "Yeah Dad." 5 min later..I walk in with the Air Horn/Scream (ROFL) and watch the ensuing Chaos...its really quite breath taking....never knew they could move that fast!!! ROFL Now all it takes is for me to mention screaming or using the Horn and they would have made the Flash proud...<chuckle>

I bet the sound of clippers buzzing would have some effect on him...

I think that even I would refrain from that unless I had enjoyed tried tormenting him with all of the other methods mentioned first. By the time it got to this level, he would really deserve it!

CoeurdeLeon I'm not freaking out. I'm not freaking out. I'm not freaking out. You know that sounds like a line from "little Red Riding Hood" Put with lines like "my what big teeth you have - I'm not freaking out. I'm not freaking out" quote:
OneOfHisJewels I think it would be quite sweet actually. I can see how it would go..... "Look if can't stop the rude behavior and embarrassing me then we are just going to go home. OK Dad?" "Hush or there'll be baby pictures involved - the one that show the dimples on your bottom" For the sake of any Date - that one will stay on the creepy list. quote:
CoeurdeLeon I'm all for embarrassing and otherwise bothering the kids at every opportunity. I feel it's part of my job. I called it revenge. I told my kids that they got to pee, poop and barf on me plus all the embarrassing thing babies and tots do, (tantrums in the store, streaking to the neighbor house, mud puddle + church clothes - before church of course) Parents, in turn, get to embarrass them as teenagers. its only fair (hehe and soooooo much fun) quote:
John_O I don't see how that's creepy. A man old enough to be her father - that's creepy. Maybe it's me, but a large age difference is creepy. quote:
Geeky1 I could use some encouragement re: my relationship with my son. He is 11 and it is a major battle to get him to do anything. Pardon us for the sport at your expense. We've been there done that more than twice. For me, years and years later its funny. Cheer up - some day you' get to giggle about it all. For now you're between screaming and pulling your hair out. Breathe, its all normal. Question: You had mentioned a break up in another thread, was your son and he involved. ( I don't mean that in a bad way, inter act. Did your son look up to him) Did your son's behavior start around the time of the breakup? If so the breakup may have effected him as well. quote:
This morning was especially hard for me because I'm going away on a business trip for a week and this morning was the last time I will see him until I come back. That may have been his way of saying don't go. (sorry for that guilt trip) Spend time with him, make time each day - week just for family. (even some "mom" time for each separately) Discipline when and where necessary. The biggest thing with any discipline is follow through Defiantly make him aware it's his behavior that needs to change. ( the old carrot and stick. Carrot for good behavior, punish for bad) Luckily I never had to do the ice-water thing, but I did put DD's (dirty) dishes and trash in her bed once. She didn't say anything but I didn't have to pick up after her for awhile. (she was 17 at the time) Boats

ORIGINAL: JustJeannie LOL. Yeah, almost as creepy as the dad of one of her friends asking me out.... THAT was creepy!! I don't see how that's creepy. (seeing how just about the only people I meet are the Girl's friend's parents save me from a possible major social faux paus here) If he's OK why would it be creepy? Well, for HER it would be creepy if I dated the dad of ANY of her friends, but I just meant this particular person. I am friends with his EX-wife. He KNOWS this, and he just is creepy to me in general. Does that make sense??? Ah, so it was this guy's creepiness that was the issue. So it's not automatically creepy for one of her friends' dads to ask you out. Which is how I'd look at it. In fact the Girl would think that was great, instant sister! Alas, no eligible ladies in her her school as far as I can tell so far.

ORIGINAL: Prairiehiker I know for me, if my daughter ever has problem getting up, I told her I'd remove the door to her room....and play loud music...like maybe some polka or something, lol. I'm sure that would get her up. I like this idea. I now have an accordian that I've been wanting to learn how to play. If there's anything worse for a child than polka music, it's poorly played polka music. (My next instrument to get is a bagpipe. I've got the wind for it)
