I think I forgot to answer the visitor question.

This is what our church does. We make an announcement during the services that invites visitor to our "Hospitality Room" in our lobby. There, if they so choose, they can fill out a card, meet folks who can answer their questions, have some refreshments and get a coupon for a free drink in our cafe.

If they are not connected with a church and are local and give us their contact info, they are assigned someone from our Hospitality Team who will follow up with them in terms of a phone call or letter where they can encourage them, answer their questions, etc. We also send out a letter from the Pastor to all visitors - one letter for local visitors (unless they are a part of another church body and/or request no follow-up) and a different letter for out-of-towners.

My wife she can't make up her mind until the last minute what whe wants to carry. I say what difference does it make? Weather is always a ???? up there. You check weather and it's never what they say it's gonna be. Pact short sleeves and carry a sweater/jacket and long pants. Shoes & SOCKS and you do ok usually.

So now I'm dealing with two very, well, interesting images in my head--

rogasinger4Him in a speedo with a Bible, and
Qtman in pj pants with a loaded Glock.

Interesting thread you have here, Mr. Kerrlaw.

Thanks for the synopsis Cranky... See I was pretty much gone all day yesterday and I missed out on some 2-3 pages of posts and thought to skip them and keep going due to it being so early in the month and me not willing to just give up and come back in November.

Well, I can't believe that I, the non-morning person beat everyone up this morning!! Won't happen often, I assure you.

But being the nice person that I am, I won't shout and wake anyone up like some people do!!!!

Good morning!

Hey, y'all!!!

I have a minute to post while the potatoes are cooking. Today's lunch is beans with bacon (the naturally smoked kind--no nitrates or nitrites), potatoes and onions fried in butter and coconut oil and cornbread (of sorts--it's kind of an experiment using almond flour instead of corn meal, which hubby had to give up for a few weeks). I wish I had some garden tomatoes and okra.

DS2 is setting up our new TV. We finally joined the digital age. We're a little behind technologically, especially since we don't watch a lot of TV anyway.

Oh...your dinner sounds good even with the almond flour!!! Yep we joined the new age about 3 months ago...we bought a Hi Def LCD tv!! I love it...wonderful for watching my baseball games...Eldest son is bringing his new PS3 over tonight and we are watching a movie in Blu-ray! They say it's better than Hi Def...so I will check it out and see.

The almond bread didn't taste a lot different from cornbread. It's something I'll make again.

We got a 32" for the living room and a 19" for our bedroom. Not big TV's, but we don't have a big house. They're LCD. I guess our first hi-def viewing will be tonight watching Keeping Up Appearances.
We don't have cable or satellite either.

Someday I'll get a flatscreen monitor for my home computer. I don't have a laptop yet, but plan to get one when I begin classes next spring.

I do have a cell phone but a cheap, cheap plan (so cheap that they don't offer it anymore and if I ever give it up, I could never get it back) with very few daytime minutes but I don't use it for chatting anyway--just touching base with hubby and kids. The new phones with touchscreens and internet and music are really cool, but I don't need one.....or the cost of the plan it would take.

Overall, we have very simple tastes.

Hi Mona!

I have a prayer request, and I hope Kerrlaw doesn't mind if I post it here. (I borrow your thread a lot, don't I? )

My brother died Friday. Please pray for his wife and four children, ages 9 to (I think) 16. I'll be traveling to the funeral this next weekend.

Thank you CoeurdeLeon and Shar-Mar.

It's quite sad. I wasn't very close to him, so I'm doing ok, but I feel very sad for his kids and wife.

This is a thread to support parenting.

None of these parents are allowed to post:

parents who bottle feed
parents who don't potty train
parents who potty train
parents who sleep in separate beds
parents who sleep in same beds
parents who sleep in separate houses
parents who cry it out
parents who control their crying
parents who never cry at all

Very understandable about your feeling towards your brother's wife and her children.
