It may seem odd to you in regards to her cultural but to her it is reality. The best thing to do is respect her and her decision.

I plan to. It's just that the situation seems unfair to me.

In any case she's not coming to our Thursday Bible study anymore because she has other obligations (a Middle Eastern Bible study.) I jokingly asked if it was because of me, and she said no. I hope she wasn't saying that to spare my feelings.
