Anyone like my ideas of how to include all the kids in the wedding?

They were nice, but I don't think it's really neccesary. (as you know) Micah and I have 12(15 including spouses) siblings between us and only 2 of them were involved in our wedding. There certainly weren't any hurt feelings.

No guarantee. Dh and I were close to their ages when we started TTC and it still took 6 months, lol.

Anyway.... I'm sure they will be blessed no matter how fertile they are and what crazy gifts they get.

How do you know this unless you ask, and if you do ask, how do you know they're telling the truth?

I do recall, though, that you had a relatively small wedding so I understand you guys having done things on a smaller scale. This wedding, however, is going to be a gala event shown on TV, with TLC probably providing the funding, so it seems to make sense for them to include everyone.......but of course I've always wanted a big wedding, and I've always believed in including all sibs, but I know not everyone feels that way lol...I do think circumstances can make a difference..for instance take my best friend and her sister (my best friend is the oldest of 8, and her sister is second, and only the 3rd and 4th are boys).

When her sister got married(which was before my best friend, even though she's younger) her groom only had one sister and one brother, and they were both college age, so she had her future sister in law as a bridesmaid(it was just one more to add to her sisters-although sister #7 was jr. bridesmaid, and sister #8 was a flower girl), so for her, it made sense having her future sister in law in the wedding..

My best friend however married a guy who was not only the youngest of 6, he had come along a lot later than the other 5, and one of his sisters couldn't make it, one made the cake, and one of them was the mother of the boy who rolled out the carpet...so in light of the circumstances of her husband's family (older, more of them)..and the fact that she had me as her maid of honor, all sisters but the youngest as bridesmaids, and the youngest sister as one of the four flower girls, it certainly made sense for her not to have her husband's sisters as bridesmaids. Plus the two that were there were honored in their own way (one doing the cake, and one having her son in the wedding-and both had corsages).

So yeah, alot of the surrounding circumstances can affect the decisions made.

That could be good and bad. It could kind of erase the wife from getting to help pick out the style, and she could end up hating the style.

Lots of couples have to start out in apartment, that's not so bad.

Secondly, just because you have sex and don't use birth control doesn't mean you will get pregnant.

Word. Even when the family has a history of super-fertileness.

I hope they realize this... that's all I'm sayin'.

Because I know my siblings, they were certainly not bothered.

It's their day, they can do whatever they want and I wouldn't be bothered a single iota. I doubt TLC is providing all the funding as they had a thank you on their website for the church who is providing all the food for one of the receptions.

I'm not bothered, I'm just hoping. Once the deed is done, I won't care. FWIW, my older sister had me (and my other sister, and 4 friends, and two candlelighters, 6 groomsemn, a flower girl, a ring bearer and two sisters in law singing) in her wedding, my younger sister didn't have me in her wedding..because she had no one in her wedding..it was just a small ceremony in the hills..and I was happy both ways.

Well here's the exact quote, copied and pasted:

"We would like to thank Pastor and people of the Church for their generosity in preparing the reception meal for our wedding guests." - Josh & Anna (Keller) Duggar

It says preparing, not providing, so it could mean TLC is providing the (uncooked) food, and the church is preparing it or it could mean the church is providing the food AND preparing it, we just don't know.

In that case, I certainly believe you. BTW, is your family(the one you grew up in) 2 girls and then 4 boys?

Ok is it just the radical, liberal- feminist-who-kept-her-own-name here ( that be me ) or does anyone else think it rather odd that she is already referring to herself as Anna Duggar?

This isn't to start a debate on her becoming a Duggar....that is a given, I'm sure.

But those personal web pages can be updated constantly....no real reason to start referring to yourself by a name which isn't yet you.

I wonder if that has to do with a "betrothal" vs. engagement mindset?

You know what? There's nothing wrong with being sad not to be able to have a baby.

Lots of people who are just fine with birth control find themselves devastated when they realize a baby isn't going to come when they want it.

I am pretty sure the Duggar's have been exposed to the world enough to understand that not everybody, even in the QF community, is quite as fecund as their parents. Even if their social interactions were limited to *only* QF people, there are plenty of QF people who live with infertility and miscarriage, so it's no secret.

My only hang up ( and yes, it is probably mine) is the "entering into marriage in purity" comment. I'm all for purity ( ask my kids! ) but I just find the "advertising" of it to be a little distasteful.

and, isn't that quite a BIG "assumption"???

again...it's all about "appearances" and "putting on a show"....

I really think that however they want to have this wedding is their own business. We're not even invited, so why do we care how they do things? I don't usually follow celebrity weddings, personally.

I guess I figured they could have done a JP thing and then the big wedding as celebration... that's what we did so technically I was using my married name between March-July when our "big" wedding was.

Nope, we are split down the middle. 3 boys/3 girls. Well, 4 boys/3 girls if you count my older brother who is heaven.

For the fun of it..... for the same reason I care who wins in ice skating in the olympics.. for the same reason we watch American Idol...because they've chosen to make themselves public...(yes, I know Josh's parents were the first to make themselves public, but Josh and Anna chose to have a public website-they could have set it to private-also on their website it says right on it that they welcome both greetings and ADVICE) I really don't CARE in the sense of being worried as I feel is being implied here, I'm just interested...

Right but the website doesn't say that they hope God blesses them with children, and they look forward to that if he does..it seems to imply a definite expectation..

They've even got the verse about children being a blessing on their website..most people don't use that until a birth announcement..don't get me wrong, I wish them well, I wish them the best, and I hope they ARE blesssed with children..I just hope they keep all scenarios in mind. I also hope that when/if they do have children, that if they want to keep their children more private than Josh's parents did, that they are given the freedom to do so.

They seem pretty traditional..I doubt they did that..or if they did do it, I'm sure they still probably won't live together until after the church ceremony.

Oh, I'm pretty sure that JimBob and Michelle will want to show off their first grandchild on their show. I'd be pretty surprised if such an event was actually kept out of the public eye.

I think you are a very sweet person, and I know you only had the best intentions by sending them an email with suggestions on how to involve their children. It's just that if it were my wedding, and less than a week before the big day I were to get an e-mail from a total stranger giving me suggestions on my wedding, I probably wouldn't even bother reading it. I would feel that it was my wedding and that the planning of it was between me, the groom, and the family, not people I don't even know who aren't invited. Even if I thought the suggestions were good, the wedding is Friday. I simply wouldn't have any inclination to make any last minute changes on the recommendation of a stranger. I'm sure they aren't offended, but I doubt they took any heed to your letter and I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't reply to it. They've got a lot going on right now. Again, you're a sweet person, and I don't think you did anything wrong. I just wanted to tell you how I would feel if I were in their shoes.

I really didn't think they would either, to be honest....and if you look, I did make sure to say that WHAT THEY DID WAS THEIR BUSINESS, and those suggestions were ONLY if they were TRYING to include the kids and had gotten STUCK on how to do so. If they weren't even trying to do so in the first place, or they already figured out how to do so, no problem...
