Then act appropriately in your(our)opportunities. (Too)often our 'fears' are veiled excuses for inactivity rather then looking for opportunity to serve others. Often we concentrate more on prevention in past disobedience/failure rather then the full flower of the next obedience opportunity. My 'greatest fear', therefore, is not taking advantage of[His]next opportunity to serve in whatever capacity His affords me.

Ditto.

I've had some relatives and some friends who passed away, and I was not sure and in some cases fairly positive they did not know the Lord. That is the worst to me.

I've been studying 'mind renewal' as taught in the Word of God recently and the one thing which this post brings to my thoughts is to "fear not". I don't honestly want to think about what my biggest fear is because God's Word encourages us not to fear. If I do start to become anxious about anything, I find thinking about what is good, honourable and true helps to disperse fears.

As a Christian - I should fear nothing, because He is looking after me.

When I have fears, it's perhaps my doubts taking over.

Causing universal disastor as God, who sees me in heaven, swears, which causes Him to sin, resulting in the entire universe to collapse.

God did not give me a spirit of fear but of love, joy and a sound mind. However I can idenify with all that you have said. Father please give us all the joy and love that you have for us and take away the fear that dwells so easily in us.

Perfect Love casts out fear. All depends on Jesus. And He is sufficient. If anything depended on me, I would have much to fear. But since it ALL depends on Jesus, my every fear is calmed. Only when we trust Him for ALL things do we enter His rest. And that is the place He desires for each and every one of us.

I fear that God's plan is for me to live the rest of my life in pain... and that I won't be able to stay faithful in the face of that.

That by my actions, I could be the vehicle which leads someone away from discovering the Love of God.

That in heaven, I will be put in charge of a bunch of whiny angels complaining about God and how hard it is flying and walking around on streets of gold... and I ultimately get in trouble for kicking their glorified butts.

Maybe God has clipped all their wings.

hmmm, I have many small fears that God is helping me to deal with, but I cannot think of any big one. When I do have a fear I take it to Him (sometimes I have to hold it for awhile, being a stubborn sort, and refuse to let Him have it or help me with it!)
One I think of from time to time is, What if this is all a lie and there really is no life eternal or heaven? What if when we die, that's it, we just cease to exsist? But I think those are more questions than fears.

Hey Tapestry,

I think the fear you mentioned is satan's trump card---he often plays it on people as their health declines or as they lie on their death bed. That is why we need to pray to die well. And by that I mean that we are protected from his attacks at the time of death.

There is a song called God Be In My Head that is a prayer that I love. It goes like this:
God be in my head and in my understanding.
God be in mine eyes and in my looking.
God be in my mouth and in my speaking.
God be in my heart and in my thinking.
God be at mine end and at my departing.

When I was in a choir that sang this, it gave me shivers. Of course the harmonies were beautiful too but I really think that it was the Spirit quaking in me as we sang.

But anyway, I think your 'fear' is probably the ultimate fear every man has to come to terms with at some point. IMO you've hit the nail on the head.

But perhaps this prayer/song will bless you. And if you go to UTUBE, you may find a recorded version of John Rutter's arrangement so you can hear what I am talking about as well. Bless ya! LL

I don't really have a big fear as a Christian- more of in my life. I fear something that I don't want to think about - that it hurts to think about. Its a prayer that I don't know if it has been answered or not...
