ORIGINAL: solo_soprano22 Yeah, but.... sometimes where we're for one person and against the other, we think about the good in our choice and the bad in the other. Forget that the one you're against probably has good points and the one you're for probably has bad points as well. That's true but at the same scary to think about. I really hope that many if not all Americans take their right to vote seriously... that means to be open- minded to eveything that whatever candidates for whatever race, local, statewide, nationwide, and not so closed minded. I have seriously heard people say I'm voting for Obama because he's black, or I'm voting for McCain because he's a war hero and my answer to them, is you really need to fully have a more indepth reason to make such an important vote... so many people have fought for the right to vote so it should be looked upon accordingly. In times like these where the next administration will make decisions towards issues that are really affecting so many of us right now, we should put trivial things aside and focus on real issues.

ORIGINAL: P31W quote:
He has spanish speaking ads for the spanish speaking americans. Unless they speak english they cannot vote. Where does the constitution or law say this? There are quite a few Puerto Ricans who do not speak English and can vote because they are natural born American citizens. Also, to become an American Citizen you have to have enough knowledge of English to pass a test and repeat an oath but you are not required to be fluent. Many people who speak English, even speak it well, still understand their native language better than English. There are many US citizens, both US born and naturalized, who speak Spanish as a first language. That said, Obama probably has ads in Spanish to reach those who were convinced by Hillary that he was a Muslim. She gained quite a bit of Latino support during the primaries through propaganda. I can't prove she did it but everyone I spoke to who thought he was Muslim was a staunch HC supporter. Like it or not the growing legal Latino vote will have an impact on this and future elections and quite a few are leaning left. Republicans may not want to continue to alienate them (no pun intended) if they hope gain any ground.
