It's difficult to believe and believe and believe and see nothing change and still walk forward.

Are you believing in Jesus as the risen Son of God and your savior that has forgiven your sins, and given you the Holy Spirit to keep you from sinning in the future, or to bring you to repentance if you do.

Or are be trying to use God as a slot machine and manipulatej Him to make you life in this fallen and sin filled earth easy??

Thanks

It sure is. I need to be reminded daily, which is a good reason to read the Bible daily. Going to church to be taught from God's Word, singing spiritual songs and talking to Christian friends helps me.

The Bible says what you can see is temporary and what you can't see is eternal. It's good for us to remember what and who we are.

That's why we are told to fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, Who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you may not grow weary and lose heart. (Heb 12:2,3)

He's lived it and will continue to live it in you and me.

If your talking about things around you, reminber we are in the world. And the world won't change till the Lord comes again.

If your talking about our struggles as we go through life, the Lord doesn't promise that everything will go great. What He does promise is that He will be right there with us, that He will never leave us.
His word also says that all things work to the good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. We may not "see" the good, because His word also tells us that now we see darkly but one day we will see clearly. So good may be coming that we can not see, or maybe even understand that it is good, but according to His plan, it is.

God bless you, Popsi.

Popsi, from your posts you sound like you already know this, but just a gentle reminder ...

John 17:13-20 But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves. (14) I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. (15) I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. (16) They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. (17) Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. (18) As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. (19) And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth. (20) "I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word.

... Joy, my dear Sister-in-Christ, not happiness in every circumstance, but the Joy of the Lord is in Faith in Him (the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen) and the knowledge of being his adopted daughter - a gift worth more than all of the gold and perfect circumstances this world could ever offer, and which nothing in this world can take away from you. Jn 14:16-18; Act 5:41, 9:31, 13:52; Ro 5:3-5, 8:16-18, 15:13; Ga 5:22; He 10:34; 1Pe 1:6, 8

Building a relationship with any human is hard work, Popsi ... but we all know that it requires spending time with the other person, and it requires being able to communicate with the other person. God is spirit, and we must worship Him in spirit and in truth. Not an easy task to build a relationship with someone you can't see (Jn 20:29), but nevertheless, God has given us many different ways in which we can build a relationship with Him. 1Jn 1:8-10; Lk 11:42, 12:33-34, 15:7; Php 4:6; Jn 4:23-24; Ps 100:4; 2Co 5:15; Mt 6:16-18, Mt 28:19-20; De 6:6-7, 17:19; 1Pe 4:10; 1Co 11:24-26 .... continue to work out your faith through these opportunities to be with God.

Galatians 6:9-10 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. (10) So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Lord Jesus strengthen your daughter, Popsi, with the mental, physical, emotional, spiritual, and relational strength of Your Holy Spirit, that she may be renewed in the steadfastness of her walk with You. Amen.

This tells me you have no clue as to what faith really truly is. It means TRUSTING God to work behind the scenes even when you don't see anything happening in the natural. Paul said we walk by faith, not by sight. You are walking by sight, not by faith. Big difference. Stop looking for things to change in the natural and look to God working behind the scenes. Find verses and pray over them everyday. Tell yourself God is working on this thing, He is fixing it for me. Trust, trust, trust. It will become easier once you put your eyes on God and not the stuff around you. Capise?

How long was Joseph in jail?

How long was Paul?

How long was Job afflicted?

How long were the Isrealites in the desert....Moses herding sheep?

How long did Jesus have to wait to come to earth....and how long will He have to wait to come back?

It just seems God's timing is.....very....slow.

Let me ask ya sumptin....did ya...make the mistake of.....praying for.....

patience?

You are being so honest in saying this but don't lose heart Popsi - perhaps there is something happening in you whilst you are waiting and believing . God uses all situations to work for good as you have heard over and over no doubt...... and although sometimes hearing this is not what we want to hear this Biblical fact is so true never-the-less! God can even use situations where nothing outwardly appears to be happening in order to change us inwardly! It may be God is growing your patience and faith in Him. Here's another way of looking at it: how could we share our faith with others who are going through difficult times (with what seems like no end in sight) if we have never had to trust God to come through for us in a time of blind faith or discouragement? Perhaps God is getting you ready for something He wants you to do and this is part of His preparation. Whatever, keep on keeping on and don't lose heart. There's way too many stories in the Bible of God's people becoming discouraged and losing out on much blessing if only they had waited.

I read this Psalm this morning in my quiet time. It kind of reminds me of what you have shared here:

Psalm 42

I don't doubt you shall yet praise Him too

Heb 3:13 But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called "Today," so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

The writer of Hebrews notes here the necessity of being in a community of supportive brothers and sisters. While this forum may help some, it can be no substitute for IRL relationships.

Sometimes things do get hard. Sometimes we are tempted to sin, at other times to give up hope, etc.

Hang in there and lean on your close friends during those times.

Fill in the blank:

"Faith is the substanceof thinks hoped for, the evidence of things __________. -Hebrews 11:1

Keep putting one foot in front of the other no matter what you perceive to be a lack of change in your circumstances or a lack of movement on God's part. Your eyes do not see everything and you cannot trust what they do see. Don't give up and you will soon be walking victoriously by faith that is not swayed by your limited vision.

7 "For we walk by faith, not by sight.". -II Corinthians 5

These are the two scriptures I thought of Popsi, with I read your post. They've already been mentioned by other posters, but I think they bear repeating:

Do not weary in well-doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Galatians 6:9

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

Hang in there.

Elaborate:

My parents have been struggling for years and years and years. And I have been praying for at least that long and the other day my sister was like, "I think Mom and Dad are going to work things out." I was like, "I'll believe it when I see it." You know? And that isn't faith, but I'm tired of believing for it and never "seeing" any results.

Also,

I've been praying about a personal situation. And praying for a while now. And NO answers. Sometimes it just baffles my mind that everyone says, "believe, believe, believe.."

I don't know. There is so much more to this, but I think I would rather not discuss it right now.

Thanks everyone for the posts and the info and scriptures you gave me. :)

You need to remember you are dealing with two grown adults. God won't go past what they want. If they want a divorce, they'll get it. I know it's hard to think about it, but it happens. God can turn their hearts around, but now without their permission. You need to let them be and work things out.

As for the personal situation. Again, you are looking for something in the natural instead of in the spirit or God. Stop looking at the natural, look at God. that's faith.

(((HUGS))) Popsi.

As sisrev quoted:

quote:

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

So hang in there. Reminber all things work to the good for those who love Him and are call for His purpose.

As for your parents, as Dancre said they are adults, and will do what they will. the Lord can change things if they will let Him.
I'm sure you have a very good reason for wanting them to divorce, but that is in they're control. However the Lord may have plans that you can't even fathom. Reminber, all things work to the good... So keep faith, the Lord may be working something out in this, that you would have never though of.

One of the maddening things about the Christian life it isn't like the Trip-kit that one used to get from the AAA that mapped out directions and listed the detours one could expect along the way.

The one thing that still happens is the promise Jesus gave to His disciples on the night before He faced the cross: we will face trials and tribulation.

Do you have a good Christian sister who will let you be a sounding board for the issues you are facing?
