Good question! But I don't have an answer, lol.

Personally, I like them because they are a small way of making a statement, whether it be for fashion or for the self. For example, I've never been into fashion, but I LOVE all the different styles of shoes - I love how a pair of shoes can completely change an outfit, and/or how I feel when I wear them. I may be wearing the same ugly outfit I wear to work every day, but if I'm wearing a pair of cute shoes underneath, I'll feel pretty and feminine no matter what the outfit looks like.

Shoes really don't matter to me.
I buy them when I need them.
Like, I wear Vans and Etnies. And I've had Vans for probably 2 years now and they are getting torn up. It when they get very old is when I go and buy new shoes.

However, I do love flip flops. So I guess I like those? Ha.

I really do not know the difference between shoe brands at all.

Shoes make me happy. Handbags make me happy. It's a girl thing.
They even make those little decorator pillows that say "Shoes Make Me Happy".

I wasn't always a shoe person, but lately I've fallen in love with them. A nice pair of shoes that match the outfit I'm wearing makes me feel polished.

High heals make me feel confident and sexy.
My cowgirl boots make me feel on top of the world, like I can take on anything.

I know it's all in my mind, but it's still fun.

I love shoes! I have no idea why. I'm not typically that "girlie" in that I don't wear make up and it only takes me about 15 minutes to get ready. I don't carry a purse either. I just love shoes, I don't even really have to plan on wearing them when I buy them either. Wish I could help... when you find out the answer let me know OK?

I have been told that my shoes match my mood... guess I only have about 11 moods! I never noticed that they did untill they told me... it's not like I wear flip flops in winter or boots in summer !??... i did just buy a fab pair of shoes.. clogs! Sketchers with fuzzy along the top, they look like boots untill you look closely. I like shoes because I am required to wear certain type shoes at work. When off work I can wear what i want.

Why do women like shoes so much? Inquiring minds want to know!

It's hard to go wrong with a shoe. Unless you're totally off-base and wear flip-flops to a formal party, clown shoes to church, or BIRKENSTOCKS [gasp!], no other person is likely to look down on you when looking down at you, KWIM?

Shoe fashion is safe.

There's just something about a pair of cute shoes that catches my eye! Plus - they can really transform what you are wearing them with. They can transform jeans and a black shirt into an "outfit" or change a boring suit into a statement. :)

Aaahhh yes ... 'tis a thing of beauty when that transformation takes place. Brings a tear to ones eyes . And Adriana, I hate those clunky shoes and socks too - I can sympathize with you.

Auben, what you said is true. There are definitely exceptions to every rule. For example, I love shoes, but have never really cared much for jewelrey. I don't wear bracelets, rings, anklets, or even a necklace. I only wear earrings because I've been wearing them since I was a baby (a cultural thing - all babies got their ears pierced and wore gold earrings (because gold was cheap, plentiful and durable). I think I was probably about 4 or 5 before I realized that my earrings could actually be removed from my ears.) While I appreciate gemstones, but it is rare for me to see something that I like or would wear.

LOL, I'm not that into shoes, but I LOVE jewelry.. it makes me feel so feminine..the exception is I don't care for diamonds because of what it does to kids in Africa when we mine them there...

Mike, some men find certain shoes very attractive on women..maybe that's another reason women like shoes.
