*sigh*

You can vote in the poll here.

This poll shows how many people feel that we don't need God to represent our country. I, for one, believe that when our country was formed it was so we could praise and worship God the way we want. It is the foundation of America.

Did you think to check the date on the article?

How about posting why it ws put on in the first place????? I couldn't give a rip if it was taken off because imo, it doesn't belong on our currency. I trust in God, but when has our country?

That is what I was going to say.

It's been on some form of American currency since 1864 and is part derived from our national anthem (written in 1814) which contains the verse And this be our motto: 'In God is our trust'

I would hope it would be in line with the aspirations of of our country, if not the reality.

we also have to remember the reasons why we have laws in the first place and where our morality comes from...to deny that would be castrating the geldings and bidding them to be fruitful...

When it was founded, but then people decided not to "give a rip". What's wrong with giving God the recognition He deserves for blessing us and make our country what it is. Should we just take away any mention of God, say a little prayer, and hope that He will continue to bless us when other countries are doing everything they can to surpass us?

A balogna sandwich wrapped in the flag is still a balogna sandwich.

Actually, it's a balogna and flag sandwich - not as tasty, but better for you.

Well let's just give the keys to the white house to the atheist then...

We should all be so cynical.

I'd say with your above statement that you're already there.

I would like to point out as I attempted to do so in my first post in this thread, but was ignored, that this article is from November 2005.

I've received several emails about this recently. Why is this suddenly making the rounds again almost three years later?

I did a quick search on Google News and could not find any updates to this story since the original.

Apparently, it died a quick death. So, why make a big deal, nearly 3 years later?

That's a good question.

Because it's good to periodically point out what an imbecile Michael Newdow is?

That is a good point, but I'm afraid that Christians are too quick to go on "witch hunts" these days...

Yes, it's a little like the Margaret Murray O'Hare e-mails that were going around long after she had died.

She died again? The woman is such a publicity hound.

She dies a couple of times a year, according to the emails I get from family members.

And she's still trying to get Christian stations off the air too...

Although it was dismissed, Newdow appealed to the 9th circuit and oral arguments took place at the end of last year. A judgment is expected soon-ish. Though I think if he wins, all that means is that the original court will have to un-dismiss it and take the case.

And if he loses, perhaps he will take a long needed vacation, perhaps seek counseling.

Didn't Newdow release a rap album?

As far as removing the motto from currency - I don't see it ever happening.

Election year, and a cheap, otherwise pointless 'wedge' issue for Republicans to pretend they are superior to anyone else.
