Seems like it's official now: this story was hoaxed (badly), and the alleged discoverers have skipped town. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,406101,00.html I am shocked...

they skipped town because they had so many Georgian families worried about missing relatives.... (the joke is that bigfoot is a backwoods bred relative of a georgian family....j/k)

Here's news on the topic- I heard on another forum that the "bigfoot" phenomenon is what happens to all the ex-corporate exec types that become disillusioned and go off to contemplate their navels and get spiritual. They grow their hair, quit shaving, and go the the forest to explore the nature of their inner man. Makes me wonder - I'm also somewhat disenchanted with corporate life, but I can't stand facial hair and insist on shaving every day, even Saturdays. Is this a spiritual problem?

I can give the hoaxers some credit for suckering the media into giving them some free attention, but what did they think would happen after they were found out? Total boneheads....

You know, if you have to tell a whopper, dress it up, I mean really go to town. Like those two guys who made crop circles in England -- they had "scientists" and learned folks eating out of their hands for years. Or how about the guy who made the infamous "Patterson Film" -alledgedly- showing Bigfoot strolling away from the camera petulantly looking back. Or, how about that guy who made that famous grainy image of the Loch Ness Monster. These men were pros at what they did. These great, hairy lies stood the test of time before completely falling apart. Amateur hoaxers of the world Take Note!
