Yes it is getting to be soup season... the balck bean soup sounds yummy! I have a ham bone in the crock pot, I'm thinking of making "ham stew". I think it's basically boiled dinner made as a soup, or a stew made with ham . Just ham, potatoes, carrots, cabbage, and whatever else sounds good at the moment all thrown together to make a soup/stew.

Chicken cooked in the crockpot then finished off in the oven, mashed potatoes and probably beet greens.

Tonight Kevin had tuna casserole. I had a salad mix (before it went bad) and 1/2 cup of cooked barley (before it went bad). Later on I had some grapes and cheese and crackers.

Would you mind telling how you fix this? A long time ago I made something like this---had totally forgotten about it until I read this. So a reminder would be helpful. Thanks.

Wednesday is pizza night. There's a great pizzeria down the street that sells half-baked refrigerated pizzas for $4.50. I walk down there with the kids when they get home from school and buy 2, and we have salad or carrot sticks with it. They only take about 10 minutes in the oven and they are exponentially better than frozen pizzas for the same price. Plus, we get a walk in.

Zoebob - I did a similar double-take.

Everyone's dinners sound so yummy to me today!

We're gonna have sloppy joes; mine will be on a bed of quinoa; Kevin's will be on a traditional white hamburger bun. Fries on the side (although I may skip them).

Sure!

I brown 1 pound of hamburger with some chopped onion, salt and pepper, then add 2 cans of Rotel and a head of cabbage sliced into ribbons, the cover and simmer until the cabbage is tender. Served over rice, it tastes a lot like cabbage rolls. We sometimes add a slice of American cheese melted in, and DH always adds ketchup. Cheap, easy, and nutritious.

We had pizza. It was free also since we had to wait for nearly an hr for it to cook. The reason why is the first time the pizza stuck to the pan and only half of it came off,so they had to make us a new one.The guy must have felt bad cause when the new pizza was ready he said we were free to go.

Cool about the free pizza! I suppose it was worth it as long as you weren't starving, LOL!

Tonight is homemade chicken mac & cheese.
