Liveloved - It's feels so good to be a winner. I bookmarked that post. I may try that if the garden lasts just a bit longer before frost so my squash can mature.

re: seaweed - Friend Hubby and I were just discussing the other night why in the world do they call it seaWEED? That sounds so bad. If they just called them sea plants or aquatic plants I'm sure people would think a lot differently. SeeWEED sounds like that slimy stuff I used to find washed up on the shore. Sea Plants sound nice and fresh. IMHO

I took my dgd and dd to Baker's Square for supper for dgd's birthday. That was her choice. I was so pleased she changed from her original choice of having grandma cook a nice birthday dinner TODAY after I volunteered at the school from 7 til 5 and it's a good hour to get home at that point. I had a nice chicken stirfry. Dgd had french toast swimming in syrup, eggs and... some breakfast meat dd had hamburger and fries.. Ok, so those wouldn't have been MY choices.

Baker's Square chicken stir fry? Oooooo, I'm so jealous! <drool>

(Although I like their stir fry salad a little better, LOL!)

Ohhh I forgot about that salad! It's been so long since I've been to a Baker's Square. I had understood they all closed up. But I think the one in Burnsville may be still open and Brooklyn Park definitely is.

I am serious. How much meat I eat is my business, thank you.

Jenny Fair I was saying that out of concern, take it as a wise suggestion. The best is a balanced diet with not so much meat and plenty of legumes and grains as well as veges and fruit. Has anyone here ever tried quinoa? It is a grain very high in protein, I briefly saw someone mention it earlier in the post. Sometimes i eat white bread but not often. Pizza crust and spaghetti, lasange etc have bleach in them. Unless they are wholemeal, that is;and they contain zilch nutritional value.

Probably baked chicken and stuffing. I guess I should get the chicken out of the freezer.

Okay, who called the food police? If I want to be preached to about my eating habits I'll post in the health folder. Please keep your advice to yourself unless asked. Thank You.

Tonight I work until 8, so dinner will more than likely be something from the Chinese place down the row. And I already know it isn't the best thing I could be eating, but ya know what? I don't care. In fact, I may order extra meat.

uncabeeil gorgeous avatar! Is that an actual photo?

I have to agree this is the What IS for dinner thread, not What SHOULD BE for dinner. And, yes, there are other threads for those discussions.

May God bless us all with a spirit of camaraderie and not division.

Yes ma'am. I took it a couple of years ago. It's the Swimming River Reservoir in Lincroft, NJ.

WOW! I'm totally impressed!

As for dinner, we're going to have one of the last potato salads of the season. I have some cucumbers from the garden I like to throw in. This, of course, to go with the grilled steak. Yes, I know, fried potatoes would probably be butter but.....

Along with the chicken breast (which I used a store-bought sauce on) and the stuffing, I also roasted some cauliflower. (I cut it into bite sized pieces, tossed it with a little olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper, and baked for about 20 minutes at 400.) It was yummy!

I have a concern regarding some things that were said here recently. One person expressed an opinion and several responded by basically saying this opinion was unwanted and should not be expressed.

Since this is a forum which by definition is a place to discuss things, it seems that 'opinions' are what happen here. We have the choice to ignore the opinions of others. Or we have the choice to discuss that opinion.

But do we, especially in light of our relationship to Christ, have the right to tell someone they CANNOT express an opinion? I think not.

I would like to see us rise above these types of behaviors. I really enjoy participating in these discussions and find it disheartening when I see these types of situations. I love you all but think we need to ponder when to respond to things that are said and when to just walk away and ignore them.

I almost ignored this situation as well but believe it does need to be addressed. . . Liveloved

And BTW, we're having shrimp for dinner.

MODERATOR'S NOTE :: ATTENTION PLEASE

I guess I have to come in and say something.

Let's keep this thread about what we're having for dinner. We can discuss whether OUR meals are healthy, etc., but please don't criticize others' food choices. We can ask for recipes; we can drool over others' food choices, but let's keep it positive and not critical. If you don't like someone else's meal choice, ignore it.

There. A policy has been set. Let's move on now.

Thanks!

Pasta Lasagna. An easy dish made with penne pasta instead of lasagna noodles. I'm all for easy during canning season. In fact I'm even going to use pasta sauce from jar.

I was hoping to roast a turkey tonight but I am not sure I will have the time (I don't think it's completely thawed yet). I found it for cheap and decided it was time to make up some freezer meals and soup and stuff. Anyway, if I can't get that in, then I am not sure what we'll be having. We've about eaten up all the leftover tacos, fajitas and pizza that we have been working on for a few days.

Tacos tonight. One pan of meat with just a dusting of spices for hubby, and a pan made with half beef/half TVP, lots of spices onions, peppers, tomatoes and salsa for me. My son and his friends will probably mix some from each pan for their tacos.

Generally I just use Zaterain's mix.

Never tried the mixes. Being Zaterain's I'd bet a nickle its good.

Ummm, custard sounds good! Think I'll make some tonight.

We're having leftover ham from the weekend and whatever I can find in the fridge to go with it.

I... don't... know.

I feel extra lazy today - tired, fighting a headache, etc. - so I really don't feel like cooking. Argh.

Maybe I'll toss in a frozen pizza.
