OR, your date will be considerate and remember to put the ringer on silent so as to not disturb the flow of the date :)

Yep, though it can be disconcerting when people whip out their phones and say, "Hello?" seemingly without any stimulus. Silent is for if you're not going to answer, just to clarify. :)

Well I would figure that my date would be so mesmerized by ME that he wouldn't even notice the phone "ringing".

How about if he's so mesmerized with you that he stares at you for 5 minutes without blinking, and hanging on to your every word, looking for every personal details of your life for when he starts stalking you? LOL.

Being overly nice and friendly to the cute waitresses are annoying too.

I am going to preface this to say the radio station I play in the store has John Tesh "with intelligence for your life" on every night.

Anyway quite often he gives dating "intelligence", which I must admit sometimes is pretty good. One thing he says is to pay attention how your date treats the wait staff to make sure he/she treats them nicely.

I thought I would post a link to this HERE. Interestingly he also talks about cell phone conversations whle on dates along with some other tips.

Oh! I just had a thought! (I know...skeery isn't it???)

There have been times I've been on dates and we've run into people he knows. I don't mind if it's a brief meet and greet, however make a small effort and introduce me to them. When they walk away I've heard, "Oh that was so and so..." mmmhmmmm...and I am...what? Chopped Suey?

It's not too hard to say, "Hey Bill and Sally! How are you? Do you know Tink? Tink...these are friends of mine from clown college...Bill, Sally, this is my gorgeous, intelligent, wonderfully amazing date, Tink."

How hard is that??? Really??

Now, tell me, how do you REALLY feel about that?

I know... bad manners turn me off, too.

Guys- Reasearch the place you are going to. One time years ago, I guy I was going out with for the first time took me to this wonderful mom and Pop resturant. They did not take checks or credit card/debit, they took cash only. He had to run to an atm about a mile away to get cash. Since we had already ordered when he figured it out, I sat there alone. Not a good first impression, so I introduced him to a friend of mine.

Was my frustration that obvious?

WOW!! You dated people who went to clown college!!

(I thought you were afraid of clowns? Is that why? Did that clown's rudeness scare you?. Enquiring minds want to know)

Actually his point of reference was fictional...I used that example only to emphasise the horror of said date and how vehement I am about rudeness.

So I guess "bozo the cockroach" is still a good threat.

Okay, how about this one?
Don't order things outside your normal fare.
It's dishonest to try to impress a date by ordering only a salad if you normally like to have a 12 oz. ribeye.
It's exploitative (if your date is paying) to order the most expensive dish and follow up with a rich dessert if you normally eat frugally.
So, order what you would normally eat on your own budget and appetite, and let your date think whatever your date wants. This person will get to know the real you eventually. It's best to be yourself all along the way.

Unfortunately.

I told Kyoudai about that and he was like, "Hmmmm...it can sooo be done with Photoshop! Tell me when he wants it done and I'll take care of it."

Then he received a dirty look and followed up with, "Of course I'm sure he's quite capable of handling it himself. Here...have some chocolate!"

Don't order finger foods that will get your hands messy. (thinking of a scene from "How to lose a guy") Watching a guy ( or girl) licking and sucking on their fingers on the first date is just.

You know...that's one thing that doesn't really bother me. I looove a good rack of ribs, or peel and eat seafood...or whatnot.

In fact, my dream date meal is a loaded hotdog with a beer at a pro sports game. That's pretty messy too...LOL

However, if he didn't take time to wash his hands in the restroom I would have to hesitate a moonlit walk on the beach.

also refrain from spaghetti (too messy), garlic (unless you have REALLY good mouthwash on hand) and spinach (or something else that would get stuck in your teeth--- sooo not attractive)

LOL! I love those things too. Just not on the first or even second date.

Well a couple centuries ago when I was dating, my Mom always told me to never kiss on the first date, and to always have "mad money" with me. I guess I think both are still good suggestions!

The "mad money" was in case you got mad at "him" and needed to find your own way home- something good to have on any/all dates really- a plan on how you would get home if needed and the $$ to do so. Safety first ladies... men too, but you are usually the drivers .
