This is a spin off of the Holy Kiss thread, where the mention of cologne worn in mass quantities was listed as a not-so-good thing.
So what are your tips of what to do/not do and wear/not wear for a first date? Also, share the stories behind them if you have any!

The cologne discussion: had a first date w/ a guy-- and the very first time I met him in person. He was wearing about a GALLON of cologne! I wanted to choke!! It was also pretty much the last date with this guy.
So Tip #1: Go easy on the cologne!

i am amused when the girls in youth group complain about always having to pay for the boy, but then keep going out with them ... so maybe a tip is always be prepared lol?

I like it enough to when you leave the person and riding down the road and your trying to figure out what that smell is and its them.

Ooh my housemother in college taught us that. She demonstrated spraying three sprays into the air in front of you, and then spin into it. She was such a great southern charm lady. lol

Oooh, another tip from above-mentioned housemother:
Always allow the guy to open a door for you. If he fails to take the intiative, simply stand at the door and wait. Then thank him for being so kind as to open the door for you. If he doesn't pick up on the clue, move on to guy #2.

Don't overeat. (leads to embarassing burping and I'm sure she won't be impressed that you can burp the entire alphabet on the first date)

As far as blind dates go, don't lie to the person before you meet them. It makes them very disappointed.

If you go out to eat, go to a resturaunt that you are faimilar with. This way you know what foods are messy, which are not. What dishes you like and what dishes you don't like. If your date has not been there you can make suggestions.

I would bring money (for that mad money and enough to cover my own bill if needed), but if someone asked me out I would expect them to pay, maybe that's old fashioned (heck I'm not called a grandma for nothin')but there's another tip for ya I guess - if you do the asking be prepared to do the buying! And if the "asker" did not pay and I had to pay my own, the "date" would be over!
