I know the topic has been covered, but I do want to talk to those that have had the surgery & find out what they are doing about bras. My problem is I was overweight when I got the surgery 3 years ago & I'm still struggling to lose weight. It's very hard to get bras that fit me due to the fact I had the insurance surgery, so all it leaves is 2 shapeless bumps that don't fill cups correctly. I guess I'm technically a 44B or 44AAA depending on what kind of cup I have. I hate to wear sports bras because they just make me flatter. Anyone out there have the same problem & found a solution? kd

I am sorry I don't have any input, other than to ask...have you tried sports bras with the cups? Not just the ones that resemble tanks, but have cups.

I've never seen sports bras w/ cups. Who sells those? kd

I just recently had the surgery and bought a few "first" bras. Most department stores should have specialists who can help you find the best fit for you... I didn't take advantage of this. I found three bras... one is a soft shape and doesn't fit quite right... another is padded and fits perfectly... another is padded and doesn't fit perfectly (cup size is a little large), but it's not uncomfortable and nobody would ever know.

My first sports bras were perfect for post-surgery but very uncomfortable now for everyday wear. We did find one at Bealls Outlet, however, that was made of cotton that looked more like a bra. I wish I could make out the name... it's Athletic _____; the name is wearing off now.

The pockets under my under arms are numb & uncomfortable so I have to wear a sports bra to bed at night.

I was measured incorrectly at Dillard's 3 years ago. Now the comment I get is from a woman trying to discourage overweight women from getting the surgery because of what they wind up with & they have no bra to fit them. I miss the days of the ladies in the intimate apparel sections (especially Sears) that really knew what they were doing when they measured. kd

I just Googled "44b bra" and a large number of sites came up. www.bareneccesities.com was one of them. Have you tried doing anything similar?

When you first had your surgery were you proportionate or was that due to weight loss? If your surgeon took you down to a 44B that is a surgeon problem, not a surgery problem. The surgeon's are not supposed to take you down to a size that makes you disproportionate.

The purpose for the surgery WAS for the back & neck pains, but also for the sheer fact & could not stand to exercise w/ them being so heavy. It was supposed to help me get back into exercising & stay there. Well, problem is the surgery doesn't include brain surgery to help w/ the seritonin problems. So, it's been a big headache being 100 pounds over weight. Plastic surgeons can't help you w/ that problem. It's not totally his fault, but I don't understand reducing them down to a blob w/ no form. But, the more I hear about it, the more I learn that it's exactly what happens w/ an insurance paid surgery. It is not about making them look good. It's the price I pay since I didn't pay for it! I will check out that site & see if I find anything helpful. Thanks. k

Even though insurance paid for it the surgeon should not have reduced them that much. I researched the surgery quite a bit prior to having my own surgery which was for some of the same reasons as your own. Your surgeon should have taken your current weight into consideration along with the fact that you may lose weight and left enough tissue to leave your proportionate still. I'm sorry that you are struggling to find bras now. I hope some of those sites will help you out.

Thanks. The only problem w/ looking on line is the fact I can't try them on. I ordered one from Avon once that I thought would work & it didn't come close. All brands don't have sizes exact. I have been able to find one bra from Walmart (Curvations, I believe, Queen Latifah models it). Unfortunately, that one style hasn't been available since then, so I'm stuck washing the same one quite a bit. kd
