ORIGINAL: csl7037 Remind me how old your daughter is? I posted a few weeks ago about how frustrated I was with mine after she took a cheerleading camp. I helped some and if she does cheer in the fall (at school, 4th grade), I want to coach. But she's pig headed and seems to do things to frustrate me. I want this to be something we can do together but we'll see. It can be so much fun. It's so great that you both enjoyed it so much! I cheered for years but my mom just went along with it. It's a huge hassle, expense...and can be stressful (competing) but sounds like she's got the bug! My daughter is 7 and what gets me about this is that her and I clash sooo much. That same day, she started up in a resturaunt and I literally had to drag her out because she was making such a scene and I tried to get her to walk with me, but she held onto the chair and screamed louder. It was not good. But I did get her outside and it took about 5 minutes to calm her down enough to get her to listen to me and understand that this was not going to happen again. I found a dance studio that is very good at putting the kids first. The owner was in tears when she saw one of our teams take first place, but just before that, she was talking about how wonderful they looked and just being very positive about them. It was all about the kids. My daughter gets anxious before she performs and sometimes it can get hairy, but she is in heaven when she gets off the stage, and this last time she was perfect while getting ready. She LOVED the glitter makeup and curls in her hair. I also think that the team she is on has an effect on her. They are getting closer as the weeks go on, and so far, the moms I have met from the team are great and that helps alot also. You know how that can get. If she is interested, try it. The only complaint I have is the cost. But if she wasn't dancing, she would be bowling or playing soccer, or something wtih fees so either way we are going to have to pay for something.
