Dubya -> Obama Overdose (8/6/2008 8:58:05 PM)

Has anyone seen this news? Poll: Nearly half hearing too much about Obama

Interesting how even the AP realizes the over-exposure Obama is getting compared to McCain.

todd_t -> RE: Obama Overdose (8/6/2008 8:59:36 PM)

Frankly, I'm pretty burned out on both candidates right now.

inthysite -> RE: Obama Overdose (8/6/2008 9:11:09 PM)

This may explain why NObama is dropping in the polls.

saved9201 -> RE: Obama Overdose (8/6/2008 9:31:06 PM)

I thought one of the complaints about Obama was that people don't know enough about him. Make up your mind, people!

It's kind of like all the celebrities. Many people have had an overdose of Brittney, Paris, Madonna, etc. yet we don't know much about them either other than what the media tells us... but they are not running for President.

What people are tired of is the constant fawning over the Messiah. No mention is made of his over 300 "present" votes in the Ill. legislator. Or, any real work he did there or as a community organizer of ACORN. No mention that he really didn't live in the hood. No mention of his sparse work in the Senate. No mention of the grants he sent to his wife's hospital.

What is being made clear is that he is an empty suit being pushed by a love-struck media.

While I know you're being sarcastic, as a Christian, don't you feel it's going a little bit too far to call him the "Messiah"? With a capital "M"? I just don't think that's a title to be trivialized.

Other than that, you made a good point with your post.

Had there been a small "m" it wouldn't have made the point...

With McCain mentioning Obama in every campaign ad and town hall meeting is it any wonder that people are tired of hearing how bad Obama is and want to hear about how McCain would not be a Bush clone and extend the Bush legacy another 4 years? Maybe if McCain laid out his policies instead of spewing the same tired negativity about Obama again and again and again, he'd actually get more media coverage.

Those are all left-wing libral polls. They don't count. The following polls should be the only ones that should be considered credible:

Rush Limbaugh's poll of his dittohead listeners has McCain up 100 percent to 0. Sean Hannity's poll of intelligent voters (those who agree with every word Hannity says), has McCain winning all 50 states in a landslide. The Worldnet Daily internet poll has Obama winning the Muslim vote, the terrorist vote, and the "gangta" rapper vote, but nothing else. A poll conducted by regulars on a certain Christian message board has Obama getting absolutely none of the Christian vote, since there's no way you can be a Christian and vote for a democrat.

Over exposure? could be that when Hilary did all that last minute fund raising she had an oversurplus of money, figured it would be dangerous to keep it around with Bill around the house, and slid it over to Obama.

rhymes...
McCain...

Obama is the photogenic front-runner and he gives good speeches that attract enormous crowds.

It is absolutely shocking that the media would focus its attention on him.

I agree, too bad there isn't any substance under all the "change" rhetoric...

huangshan -> RE: Obama Overdose (8/7/2008 3:39:08 PM)

Well, the media isn't generally concerned about reporting on substance, so it's not surprising that you feel that way.

The media is treating him as their Messiah. When he speaks phrases such as "when I am President the seas will stop their rise.." the media seem to act as if he indeed has that power.

davemiller7 -> RE: Obama Overdose (8/7/2008 4:39:03 PM)

Oh there's substance in his "change" rhetoric. It's spelled s-o-c-i-a-l-i-s-m. And I think that interpretation is being very kind to him.

I didn't say NObama was losing in the polls only that he was dropping in them. Both Rasmussen and Gallup had Barack up as high as 9 points ahead of McCain during his Magical Mystery Tour, after that he was down to a 6 point lead, now it's only a 1 or 2 point lead and when you consider the margin of error it is a virtual tie.

Near the tail end of Obama's overseas trip his lead expanded to nine points, but in the days following the trip's conclusion McCain erased that lead and moved into a tie with Obama. Since then, Obama has reestablished a modest advantage over McCain.

Gallup Daily: Preferences Stable, Obama by 3

SuspenseWriter -> RE: Obama Overdose (8/7/2008 6:57:05 PM)

To be fair to both sides, right now we're in the August doldrums, and polls mean little. Only after the debates are over will they firm up to any substantive degree.

todd_t -> RE: Obama Overdose (8/7/2008 7:14:57 PM)

Thanks for that rare incident of rational thinking.

Besides--for the millionth time--the national polls (which fluctuate daily) mean little because this election (like 2000, and 2004) is going to come down to the battleground states again.

SuspenseWriter -> RE: Obama Overdose (8/7/2008 7:32:07 PM)

Todd, you have such a sweet spirit about you, man. Really.

lightshineon -> RE: Obama Overdose (8/7/2008 9:40:19 PM)
