rbaribeau -> New to community (8/5/2008 8:25:39 AM)

Hello everyone!I am a new subscriber and I really enjoy this site.Just a little background for you.I accepted the Lord on Sept. 20th 2005.I currently attend church at Calvary Chapel Russell(Pa.).I love my church and I feel that I am growing in the Lord with leaps and bounds. The Lord has truly blessed me in many ways and my life is so much better,in every aspect, than it ever was.I have a call on my life to create a ministry in my home county to help ex offenders coming out of jail.In this county there is nothing in place to help saved inmates coming out of jail. They have no options other than to go back to the life they had before they got saved.I want to create a ministry to help these people adjust to life in the Lord.I think we can help these guys in many ways,we can provide them with a place to get them away from the old friends, family and behaviors that got them into trouble. These guys need to be taught how to have discipline in their lives to do daily devotionals, fellowship with other members of the body of Christ. They will need help in finding a church home, being held accountable and living a life in Christ. These guys are baby christians and need help and mentoring. The problem around here is that they come out of jail and noone wants to help them...you would think they were lepers or something.Anyhow long story short, the Lord has placed this on my heart and I know he will see it to completion.I am hoping I can serve God and be of some help to these forgotten ones.I am open to any and all advice I can get on this as well as any input people may have on how we can help these guys.Thank you in advance for your input and God Bless. Please pray for a move of God in this ministry because without God it will not happen!

Hi rbaribeau

You have a challenging ministry ahead and the Lord will bless you.

I have done a little Prison ministry in the past and it is difficult and sometimes disheartening but be encouraged because there are many good things happening in the prisons around the world at the moment and the bigger the challenge, the more glory for the Lord......

Luke 7:47
Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little."

Thanks for your encouragement! I am really looking forward to watch how this ministry will unfold. It is such a needed thing here where I live. These poor guys have absolutly nothing or noone they can turn to for help, guidance, mentoring or anything needed to succed.Once they get saved they have no options when they get out.The churches in this area will give a few dollars to ease their consciences, but they certainly don't welcome these guys into the congregation, they don't invite them to bible study what they di is look down their nose at them like they were lepers or something.I am under the impression that these are the type of people the Lord came to minister to.A healthy person doesn't need the doctor, right?Anyhow thanks again for the encouragement and please keep us in your prayers.
