Good morning, Barb. Hope you get those dresses finished today. Our weekend was a little quieter than yours. Think I wrote about it in the other thread, or in my thread. Anyway, had company for cards Saturday night. Yesterday I went to church both morning and evening. Bill fixed us steak on the grill in the afternoon, at which time I tried to discuss his retirement with him. Looks like after nearly 40 years of marriage I'd know we can't discuss anything more serious than the weather without us fighting . . . it put such a damper on what could have been a good day. And the thing is, he'll eventually realize that what I was trying to tell him was probably right, and come back to ask for more information . . but then it will look more like his idea I guess. Who knows why he finds it so hard to take -- it's not advice cuz there was nothing to advise about yet . . it hadn't gotten that far. It was simply information. Things like that make me so weary. Anyway, I'm off to go to Walmart again -- forgot his meds the other day, and something else which I can't remember right now. Hope I remember it before I get there. Then I'm planning to go to the gym. We'll see.

Yes, Barb, it is certainly easier when they can figure it out for themselves. But Bill's a procrastinator of the worst kind about things like this, and I have been patiently waiting for him to make some moves toward retirement for a year now; however we'd both decided we really couldn't afford it with the economy like it is, even with him working part time, which he intended all along. But neither of us had stopped & done the math. Which is what I did this weekend, adn what I was trying to tell him . . not advising to take action, just simply tell him that we would be at least as well off, financially, and maybe even better. He blew up before I got that far. So, I guess I'll just keep my mouth shut and listen to him complain about being tired and sore, etc. Some ppl just get a bang out of playing the martyr, Well, I made it to the gym finally. But first I met my sil for coffee at McD's. That was nice. It was even nicer to get home and get all the sweat washed off me then relax in the cool air of the a/c. Gosh it's hot out there!! And it's got to be 10-15 degrees hotter in town than here. I forgot to bring my stuff in from the van, so guess I better go out and get that.

{{{{{{{{{Barb}}}}}}}} {{{{{{{{{Linda}}}}}}}} It's still the weekend here. We have a long weekend (just because the government likes us--and wants our tourism dollars). I can't remember what I did for the weekend. Oh. I slept late each day. Yesterday I had a nice afternoon at The Forks, watching some really cool native dancing costumes as a group of natives danced for several hours not far from my coffee shop window. Saturday I did several loads of laundry plus dusted and vacuumed in the basement--those parts I could reach. Today I proofed ds1's 3rd-year economics paper comparing the Soviet Union to current-day Russia and now I've been continuing scrubbing the kitchen. Did some stuff around the stove and next is the diswasher area. I'll have to come back to the stove because I need to buy a stronger degreaser.

Good morning, Barb. Glad you got your room all moved around . . . sounds like a nice place for you to 'hide out' from all the commotion I'm going to vote this morning, then to the senior center this morning, meet some of the church ladies there, then after lunch we'll all play some table games. Looking forward to it. I think I'll leave a little early so I can go to the library and pick up a book. I've read two of a series of 3 that Maggie recommended, but the 3rd one hasn't come in yet -- unless it comes in today -- that would be nice! If not, I'll find something else to read until it does. If I'm not too tired when I get home I might start working on emptying a 4 drawer filing cabinet of junk so I can fix up my 'sitting room' a little better. Need to move a wardrobe out of there, and have to get rid of the filing cabinet to make room for the wardrobe in my sewing room. Once the wardrobe is out, I'm seriously considering moving my chaise lounge in there. I put a big window in there this spring which looks onto the back yard. Not quite as pretty a view as the front yard, especially this time of year, but I'm thinking I could hang a bird feeder right outside the window, and it would be nearly as good . . . also, when I want to read in the evenings instead of playing on the puter or watching TV with Bill I could do so in there without the distraction of the TV I get out here. Bill seemed in favor of the idea cuz it would make our living room not so crowded and get his chair back away from the TV a little more. As much as I love sitting on my chaise lounge, we really didn't have room for it in here. I think this will work well, tho.

Hi Leah, Maggie, and Barb! A lot of stuff going on lately. It was fair week so hubby and son were with the boy scouts renting the padded seats at the stadium for the rodeo and demo derby. I just got back from registering my son for school, will do my daughter this afternoon and my high schooler tomorrow probably. My daughter just walked to the store with a friend. I wonder if she got caught in the shower that came through a bit ago. I think her friend has a cell phone so they could have called. I voted yesterday. I should try to see who won. The state board of education race is always interesting. Kansas goes back and forth on requiring evolution/intelligent design to be taught in schools. Many are very passionate on both sides. Dee

Dee, I think the creation story should get equal dibs at being told if they allow the others they should allow all views. My experience is teens call when THEY need something otherwise the cells phones aren't used to call mom and dad. My church is having a show and tell on what members can do such as a hobby to share, a skill, a talent. I couldn't think of anything for me so I did a power point on the Parable of the Sower and found pictures and did research to put it together. My pastor said it was good and is projecting it on the church screen for people to see while they are milling around looking at the booths and displays. I sent a copy to Maggie and Linda too. They said it was alright. Anyone else want to view it? My lawyer's paralegal called today before I got home from work. Dave said she said she needed to talk to me. Guess something is up. Ginny

Hi everyone. Looks like I didn't make it in here today. Nothing much going on -- been rather lazy today, really. quote:

Good morning, Barb. Yes, we've been having scorching hot weather, but it did break Wednesday, and it's a been slightly less hot since then. I think it got to 84 yesterday, though 69 sure sounds a lot better to me! . . . I do miss being able to be out much. I'm thinking about putting on some old clothes and going out to pull a few weeds today, but I really have some sewing that I must get done, so we'll see. Garrett had to go in for an MRI today on his head . . please pray nothing will be wrong.

She's minimizing our comments, Linda! Whatever shall we do? We have yet to have any hot weather this summer. Well, we had two days, not consecutively, where the temps reached 30C (somewhere in the 80'sF), but that's all. So, Linda, are you sewing or pulling weeds? Or did the swing or chaise lounge grab your attention? Barb, congratulations on finishing the dresses! Way to go!

But I DID need to do my Bible study, ya know, so then I just continued on reading . . . . that Ted Dekker book is REALLY good Should be sewing. Should be weeding. Can't decided which to do. Maybe I'll read some more while I'm deciding . . .
