Can things get any worse than this?

Is this what is called worship now?

This seems to be the latest fad of doing "church" better
than those before them.

The churches are more like taverns and night clubs.
We have one that just opened in a nearby town.

We have a lady we just led to the Lord a month or so ago
who went there and she said that when they painted the walls
black, added the light effects and smog machine, etc. Blast
your ear drum music that she felt like she was right back where
she came out of.

So, they "think" they are reaching "out" to the unreachable,
but they are violating the "Come Out from Among them."

Just more of the apostasy in these last days.

I try to be as objective as possible and judge everything on a case by case basis; that being said, I think this is a serious case of mountain outta molehill. I loved the song in the 80's, I love Jesus today, therefore no biggie for me. I have one major issue with what I saw though; a room full of hundreds of stinky sweaty socks being whirled around. PEEEEEEEUUUUUUUUUU

You're on your own on this one buddy; we'll I'm sure others will agree with you. I venture to guess that your opinion will be the popular one and mine, not so much; whatever. I have parodied many secular songs and changed the lyrics to a "Christian" theme. Way more important things to get "offended" by.

P.S. you guys gonna trade Manny?

I would have had less of a problem if it were a concert or youth night. But this was considered WORSHIP.

Remember, if you pile up enough molehills, you eventually get a mountain.

Don't think so. Wouldn't get enough back. I figure that he'll try to pad his stats knowing that he'll be a FA next season. That can only help the team, as long as he doesn't disrupt the clubhouse

Sox fan, would you mind posting this link in the bringing the bar into church thread? (If it's not a tos, of course)

Lapidoth, you made my case for me. May I quote you in that same thread?

Just appalling.

ha! you can debate whether or not this alleged music is worshipful..

however, just by itself its horrible! even the pagan sinners in the world wrote comments and said that song is "cheesy" ... its a cheesy 1980's disco song which is cheesy.

listenin to it, it makes you feel like your back in the world, at a rock concert, in a mosh pit.

now why in the world would i want to go back into something that i just came out of? I may as well have kept all my wordly sinful records and just go back to the nightclub,, no wait! i could just go to that 'church" and feel like im still in that same sinful hedonistic place. And now! wow! i can even feel like Im back in my old gay bar nightclub days with "you spin me round and round baby.. err. jesus.. oh yeah now its christian because they stuck in the word jesus"

ha! what a laugh. what fools are being fooled by it..

God has sent them a strong delusion because they want to believe a lie. God will give you just what you want when you become selfish.

What may I ask are , "worldly sinful records"?

Praise God you were delivered from homosexuality.

I notice that in numerous posts you are very quick to call people names, specifically, "fools", with anyone that doesn't agree with you. Your posts sometimes come off as really arrogant and self righteous. You don't have to guide the Holy Spirit, he'll guide you.

hello :) - wordly sinful records are what i chose to listen to before the Lord delivered me from sin and brought me into His marvelous light. the stuff that made me feel hedonistic, sensual, and did not respect God.

I have to stand by what I said, though I apologize for having offended you personally. to be honest, I type as I feel.. whether its a arrogant and self righteous attitude, perhaps, yet its how i honestly feel.

i do feel in my opinion and viewing that video that the people are fools... they are attending to something that is not of God.. and are being fooled by it. they think this is something of God when it is not. Unfortunately they are fools,, being fooled by it. now, I hope you saw that video to know what Im talking about.

anyone who does not follow Jesus is a fool.. whether they know it or not. Anyone who follows a man is a fool, rather than follow God. Anyone who thinks this sham is of God, is a fool,, coz their foolish heart is darkned. They beleieve a lie rather than the truth. So God sends them a spirit of deception.

now, did I step on your toes?

I'm not going to question the salvation of those who are in the video, in the congregation or on the stage.

But I will accuse them of behaving in the poorest possible taste. I would bet that 90% of them look back on that video and wonder "what was I THINKING?"

In my own ministry, I've only used ONE secular song that I "christianized"....John Berry's "Your Love Amazes Me", and only because the first time I heard it, I thought it WAS a gospel song...it works either way.

Is it any different than changing a pagan holiday to a christian one?

I was part of a youth group awhile back and the worship band played a song that was orignally done by the WHO and the lyris had been "christianized." It was very weird because I kept singing the original lyrics. I don't like the idea and think it shows a lack of talent.

Yes, feel free to quote me.
I came "out of" the night clubs myself

We truly have to "search our hearts" in these days.
It is so easy to get side-tracked and miss God's direction for us.

Why compete with the world when we truly have the "words of life?"
Competition may bring in numbers, but there's no life in numbers.

The only thing that will bring life is the "words of life" that point to
the One Who IS Life.

Whether this was a youth conference or a 'Christian' concert or a worship meeting, there's no excuse for it. None. It's a disgrace and Rick Pino has sent a very clear message:

We are the world.

This is sad if it wasn't so funny. I kept shaking my head while watching this. Can't wait to get home and spin my shoes and sockies to worship the Lord. You can no longer tell apart the Christians and non-Christians. They look and act so much alike.

Well, I don't know as if I would term that worship, but who am I to judge where those people's hearts were when they sang that song? Some of them may not even have known the song came from somewhere else and was Christianized. I wouldn't have known had you not told me.

I think people these days get too easily offended! If you don't consider that worship then don't YOU worship that way.

Most important... God knows the heart. If we desire to worship Him it must be in spirit and in truth!

I think its a little odd...but if thats what it takes nowadays to get some teens interested in the word, then why not? Its not the right way to go about it, i agree, but at least people in there were saying the word JESUS instead of being out on the streets engaged in something evil.

It all depends on which Jesus they are preaching/teaching there................................

Burrowing from the world and "Christianizing it"... this sounds like X-mas...errrrrr let me stop! LOL

This really does not surprise me. We've been doing this for years, sadly!!

Sadly, if we say something contrary...we're being judgmental, mean and unloving.

That is the key with the whole problem that these people are young and ignorant of what it really means to fear God and reverence a Holy God. The whole concept of let's try to make Church comfortable and entertaining for our younger generation has come back to haunt the Church world for a lack of better expression. Entertainment in the churchworld instead of a somber assembly or true Holy Ghost outpouring that ministers to the needs of his saints.
