It's a matter of personal conviction, by and large. Personally, there are some movies and shows that I would never watch. However, there are fellow Christians who I respect who have no moral qualm watching them. Here are some guidelines that I think may help you decide what you should and shouldn't watch - 1, does it cause you to sin? If, for example, the tv/movie you're watching has sexually inappropriate material that is leading you into lust, then you should not watch it. 2, do you feel bad about it? That little nudge in your heart is there for a reason - it's the Holy Spirit telling you that this is something you need to stay away from. 3, and I know this is cliched, but, would you watch it with Jesus Himself sitting right next to you on the couch? Because, guess what, He is.

If you are convicted in this area, you should not watch this type of program. Don't project YOUR convictions on others though - which I think is part of our human nature. I think you are right though. We should guard what we allow to infiltrate our minds - what we agree with. Spending this time in the Word and in prayer is a much better use of our life!!

(Php 4:8) Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. There are many movies and TV shows that if a person watched them that person would be in direct violation of the above verse. With hundreds of channels there are plenty of things to watch without watching something questionable. Thanks RC

Thank you everyone, ur input helped a lot, If I feel I my heart it is wrong I should just walk away and occupy my time by reading the bible or listening too music, etc. Its sometimes hard cuz my fiance is not where I am growing too be as a christian and he still enjoys watching tv programs and movies that put christain faith down and find it causes conflict cuz I do not want too watch it and do something else too occupy my time and he gets upset and acts like I am taking god too seriously and I need too relax. We dont have much in common I guess I really want too talk too him about the bible and everything but I feel he is just doing it too amuse me, that he is not really interested and I know u cant force someone too be one way they will grow in their faith on their own so I jsut leave it alone, he's time iwll come, I just need too be patient right? but THANK AGAIN EVERYONE, you made me feel a lot better :)

You guys should get pastoral pre-marriage counseling before continuing your engagement. Seriously.

Couldn't that argument be made about anything? If we all serve and follow the same Christ shouldn't we all share some convictions? If you're watching movies and tv shows that are in direct conflict with your walk and your God, why are you watching them? Not saying you specifically, TG, a "generic" you.

Couldn't that argument be made about anything? If we all serve and follow the same Christ shouldn't we all share some convictions? On some things, yes. Some things are explicitly commanded in Scripture. If someone says they don't feel convicted about murder, then they are clearly in the wrong. But, there is no clear command about which movies/TV shows are sinful, and which are not. Romans 14 speaks on this topic rather thoroughly.

The Holy Spirit is our conscience and if we're watching stuff that inhibits our walk; and YES, somethings are bad for everyone and no personal convictions are needed; i.e a movies that's showing naked women and dropping the "f" bomb throughout the entire film. Why would a Christian need to or even want to watch that stuff?

Ok, Um....no duh? I was giving an example of a matter with a clear biblical mandate (murder), and one without (movies/TV), per your post. quote:

I'm not saying I'll watch any movie, but there are films with female nudity and foul language that I find entirely enjoyable, and not inherently wrong in and of themselves. Obviously, such films could potentially be wrong for some Christians, but hey, I've met Christians for whom Bambi would be wrong, too.

You'd like to think that Jesus would enjoy watching movies with topless women and people dropping the "f" bomb? I'm speechless. Driving a car, using the internet and having a job are scripture neutral (well the Bible does tell us to work, so that one is scriptural). Female nudity and hardcore cursing is against the Bible in so many ways, I can't believe that I'm even debating this with a Christian. Again, if you do the exact same things that the world does (that the Bible condemns as sin) then what separates you from the world?

The Bible isn't a spiritual buffet where we can pick and choose what part we like and what we don't.

I would appreciate Scriptural support for the claims you made regarding the universal sinful nature of viewing a female nude, and hearing profanity.

I'm perplexed that a professed Christian claims that Jesus would enjoy watching movies with female nudity and the "f" bomb being used; then when I say that doesn't line up with scripture, you ask for reference. I don't know how to respond, honestly. If you enjoy watching movies with female nudity, then you must enjoy watching nude women at strip clubs and watching pornography. If not, why not, and what's the difference? If so, well then at least your consistent.

Strip clubs and pornography are designed to promote lust. Female nudity in films are not necessarily for this purpose. If I may ask - since you feel so strongly against viewing a female nude, do you also object to viewing a great portion of classical art?
