wasn't sure where to put this but,

I am concerned about this alternative treatment for stress someone shared with me
, it says it isn't a religion nor a cult. Called Alphabionics and they have a website with
their doctors listed and what it evovles....yeah evidently we/something evolves??

It teaches of a "higher Power". My first response was run for the hills. I don't
want to over react or maybe I should, but do any of you know anything about this new stress
treatment?

thanks, sally

It's 'Alphabiotics'.

I am presently really short on time but it is a cult of sorts. Here is an interesting and quirky piece on it:

quote:

Alphabiotics is sort of a medicine and a religion. It was started in the 1920s by a certain Virgil B. Chrane and continued by his son, Virgil Chrane Jr. The original Virgil's grandson, Michael, is in charge of it today, based out of Texas.

The Alphabiotics Web site is chock full of information; unfortunately, none of it states precisely what Alphabiotics are. They go on and on and on about the benefits, though, from Alphabiotic sessions one can expect to feel and think better, achieve inner peace, foster a tighter connection to their inner source of power, and gain the ability to take advantage of the body's natural capacity for wellness. Sounds good! I could use all of those things, except the tightening of my inner power source. That sounds unpleasant.

But how exactly do Alphabioticists achieve these results? Well, their Web site clearly states several dozen times that Alphabiotics are not a "treatment" and cannot be used as medicine: they're a way of life. A way of life that apparently requires "a gentle, though unique, movement of the head [that] is accomplished in less than fifteen seconds" whilst one sits on the "Alphabiotic couch." In layman's terms, that means a dude fondles your head until you have a spiritual awakening.

FOR THE REST

Oh.....thanks for the right spelling/word!

I kinda thought it sounded like a weird sort of cult. As soon as I read a little on their
website I read words that immediately threw up red flags. But I wanted to
know more about it before I said anything to the friend that recommended it.

thanks! sally

From the Alphabiotics site:
(follow the link to read the chart and more info)

quote:

PRINCIPLE 1. A Supreme Consciousness holds everything that exists in form and experience. Life, as we know it, is the direct result of this Supreme Intelligence, seeking expression.

PRINCIPLE 2. Human beings are, in every way, a part of the totality of God. Within each person is a latent spark of divinity that has not yet been fully discovered or expressed. A person is not a mind and body with a Spirit, but rather an awakening Spirit with a mind and body.

PRINCIPLE 3. Mind is the mediator between our Source and our expression. Since we have access to God’s creative power we are at liberty to use it either positively or negatively. Intense happenings in the mind can out-picture in the body and in life.

PRINCIPLE 4. Since we have not yet fully realized our potential, our divine relationship, we have a misperception, a separation from our Source of love and abundance, i.e. separation from God. We create the egocentric lesser self and deal with life through it.

PRINCIPLE 5. Belief in separation and living out of ego creates fear and stress in our lives. This causes further separation. The sequence of what happens is predictable:

1. Separation from the full expression of God’s life energy;
2. A resultant negative change in the vibratory rate of the physical body;
3. Brain hemisphere lateralization;
4. An out-picturing of selective weakness, excessive tension, and mechanical imbalance;
5. Eventually resulting in physical disharmony and premature death.

PRINCIPLE 6. The Alphabiotic Principle of Alignment Unification is a "binding back to Source" of Member Participants through the Alphabiotic Process, thus unifying the physical with the Spiritual. This makes possible a more full and complete expression of God in all areas of one’s life.

It greatly conflicts with Scripture. I wouldn't use it.

Greetings,

I appreciate this thread as it enable a constructive, healthy discourse. It's seems so silly. One simply mentions the word spirituality or higher consciousness and some immediately assume a secret society, cult or worse? I have been around developmental alphabiotics for almost two decades and to even suggest that it's a cult categorically befuddles me. Millions of people daily partake in practices and activities that are spiritual yet not religious; yoga, meditation, a walk on the beach, watching a sunset, falling in love, reiki, karate, vegetarianism, feng-shui, chanting, tai-chi, qi-gong, prayer - just to name a few. Each private association has its own contractual principles; as an example the new england alphabiotic association, which is a separate and distinct legal entity; has it's own contractual agreements.

For Christians, there is only one God and one Truth, and His name is Jesus Christ. Humans are not part of the totality of God, we are not divine, and our minds are not the mediator between a 'Source' and our expression, as the Alphabiotics website claims.

Isaiah 44:6 “This is what the Lord says – Israel’s King and Redeemer, the Lord Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God.”

Jn 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 14 The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

1 Tim 2:5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.

Also from the Alphabiotics site:

quote:

Alphabiotics: Who is it for?
Question: Do you feel?

* That a Higher Power is operating in the Universe as a whole and in you and your life personally?
* That balanced currents of this Power flow more freely and fully through peaceful, happy, productive, on purpose people?

If your answer is yes, Alphabiotics may hold the answer you have been searching for! http://www.alphabioticsinternational.com/WhoIsItFor.aspx

Which Higher Power?? For Muslims, it will be Allah. For Buddhist, Buddha. For Wiccans, it will be their god and goddess. Alphabiotics therefore promotes all gods as THE 'Higher Power'.

When any group tries to present an all-encompassing, amorphous 'higher being' and embraces all spiritual practices, all religions, all gods, and human divinity, then it needs to be called what it is: False and dangerous. As crankius pointed out, Alphabiotics is completely contradictory to God's word and therefore cannot be reconciled.

The above are religious - regardless of how 'Americanized' they have become for Western consumption. The opening thread's question is asked based on the context of a Christian/biblical worldview.
