I'd suggest ebay if you're looking for a red wedding dress. There are many sellers from China who make the dresses to your measurements. Many will use the color of your choosing, you just need to read the details to see if they'll do so. I bought my dress that way, and it fit perfectly and was very well made. Shipping was fast, and the dress didn't cost as much. I paid about $150 total for the dress with shipping, and I loved it :) So did everyone else. Here is the seller from whom I purchased my dress, and here and here are two other sellers I was considering.

ORIGINAL: Kirei When i see brides in white dresses, I think of cute, girlie, bubbly brides with high pitched voices who like pink and have been dreaming about their wedding day since they were five. And there is nothing wrong with that, but that's just not who I am. I think she was just expressing an opinion. I understand that. If you read my post, with words like "perception" and "as if," it shows that I reconginze it as opinion. I was just letting her know that what seems to be her main reason for NOT choosing white (not FOR choosing red), is not a valid reason because it's not true across the board. After all, if I expressed that I believe (which I do NOT, but just for the sake of showing what I mean) that all women who choose to wear anything other than white on their wedding day are not pure...then I'm sure there would be many people who would say that wasn't true...because it's not... Maybe knowing that every girl who wears white is not like the judgement that she gave would give her a wider persecptive on weddings as a whole... :)

I think it's very immature to judge someone based on what kind or color of clothes they are wearing. Wear what makes you happy and leave it at that.

Go for red if that's what you like. I loved some of the dresses at these links! It's only been in recent years (100 maybe?) that wedding dresses were typically white. For many years they were bright colors. For many families, the wedding dress was made of a color that would complement the brides coloring. Often it became the "Sunday best" outfit.

Nowhere did I say that every girl wearing white is a cute bubbly princess person. That would be impossible, since most brides wear white. Nor did I say that there was anything wrong with wearing white, or with people who wear white (whether they are girly or not). When I look at a white dress (and I have tried some on) I think of purity and innocence just like you do. The first images that come to my head with the words "innocence" and "purity" are cute, bubbly princesses. Hence, I see white dress, I see cute bubbly princesses. I wasn't saying that everyone in a white dress is as such.

kimberlysfrog, Nevaehs gaze, & MC4JC - thanks for the Ebay and prom dress ideas, i'll check those out => Revbob4God - Haha!! I think i've seen that toilet paper dress you are referring to... Shadowspring - Interesting! I didn't know that Red = purity in India. I've heard of so many other things that Red represents in Asia but never purity as one of them. Thanks for the tidbit => Stella - thanks for cutting me some slack! =>

You implied it very much...and with your next statement, you are still implying it... quote:

The first images that come to my head with the words "innocence" and "purity" are cute, bubbly princesses. Hence, I see white dress, I see cute bubbly princesses. Here you are making another judgement that those who are innocent and pure are cute, bubbly princesses. I'm just not quite sure why you had to include what you felt about white dresses. Just say that you prefer red. The end. If anyone asks why not white, you could say that it either didn't fit the theme of your wedding or that white didn't really suit you as far as how it looks with your skin tone or whatever. Nevertheless, you had to make some comments about what you felt white represents to you...when it's totally not true. I KNOW that you were giving your opinion, but it just didn't need to be added, IMO. I'm not trying to be rude...but it was offensive when you made the comment that you see "cute, girlie, bubbly brides with high pitched voices who like pink and have been dreaming about their wedding day since they were five." There is nothing wrong with that, as you say...but it's not true...and your description makes this lady wearing white act more like a five year old than say a twenty-five year old....

Your wedding dress doesn't have to match your theme. I would consider making a change once at the reception into your "theme" dress after dinner, prior to the first dance. Best wishes!
