It is a video filmed by channel 7 news where a man reporter posed as a fashion buyer to get in and see the conditions in which NIKE employees lived and worked. It is reported that first the employees are made to sign a contract which they don't undertstand. Then they are taken and made to work for years to pay back money which they unwittingly areed upon when they signed. They earn less than 6 dollars a day and are forced to live in squalor in overcrowded, inhumane conditions.

Not sure whether the link will come up because it is simply a yahoo link to a video which may expire in a day.

I think it is appaling how sports stars are payed buckets of money to endorse the product whilst the true NIKE faces live as slaves in poor conditions. How this happens in this day and age is beyond me.

OMG! Wow... that's about the only word that comes to mind... wow. Why is this the first time I'm hearing about this? Nike is HUGE, surely this couldn't have stayed under wraps this long without becoming a big deal, right? I know that this is supposedly one of their partners, or franchises, or whatever they're called, but still. What the heck is going to be done about this?

It's been general knowledge for a while here in Australia but it's only been people picketing out the front of shops and that type of think. Obviously too many people getting paid and too much money involved to care![:@] I have boycotted NIKE, I wear nothing of theirs, haven't since I first heard of this.

As I suspected the video got taken down over night and so the link won't work, but if nyone has access to yahoo.com.au archives they will see it on the front page for the 22nd of July (Australian page that is). I came back to it because I didn't put the country, think it was Cambodia. However it shouldn't be hard to find where these barbaric factories are hidden.

It's never happened to me before. The news has always stayed till after 9 because in the morning when I check it's still the same. This morning I realised I didn't put the location and came to look and it was gone.[:@]

If anyone has the resources and is buying from these crimminals, please check it out for yourself.

I didn't see the video (couldn't find it), but, is it clear that nike knows what's going on?...and are they indeed NIKE employees?

Here in the U.S., NIKE employs 14,500 people (most of those being in/around Beaverton, OR)....and, is regularly on the list of "100 Best Companies to Work For"

It was ok for the gov then that they don't ride on buses. We, the people, ARE the government and if we're ok with it then that is what is going to be instated as policy.

Actually the government took a stand against slavery when it decided to bring back the states that secceeded from the union. In the last decade especially human rights records mean diddly/squat when it comes time to look at our stock and retirement portfolios. Look at China.

Babylon's cargo was .....'precious' stuff of every kind: and bodies and souls of people. Mother of the Abominations of the earth with a cup filled with disgusting filth and wretched abominations. In her was found the bodies of all that were killed on the earth.

We need international Unions and law to guide them to mitigate these things. We need 'minimum' wage standards for the lawful treatment of fellow human beings abroad. We need real leadership to help guide us towards the goal of loving our neighbors everywhere. We need to make human rights decisions that are civil code for action. This is our struggle, not theirs alone. We bought these products. We are also responsible, then, to make sure that they are not abused wrongly, and without reason.

When is there enough money? However, when will there ever be another human like these?

Jesus said: for the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. 'Be on your guard against all types of greed, for a person's life does not consist in the abundance of their possessions. For the rich man that was healthy and had the law of Moses and can go to Temple, and seems blessed by God goes to hades to suffer, instead. While lazarus who suffered in this life goes to be comforted in paradise; the bossom of Abraham. Then will come for them, though not in that parable, The Judgment Day during which both will be Judged at the Great White Throne of God.

The rich man's work is tested with fire already. Then, Judgment Seat of GOD. Then, gehenna if his name is not in the Lamb's Book of Life.

Jesus is no unfair Judge concerning this, for the rich man was offered the opportunity to help Lazarus daily and did nothing. He even asks that Lazarus still be one his servants. Not very shrewd! Of course, Christ does nothing for him at that point! God is OmniPresent some say.....
God can do anything!

A person does what is really in their heart to do; for Paul said I will show you my Faith by what I do. Paul said 'you will be made rich on every occasion so that you will be able to give.' This is the reason that people are given wealth is The Apostle's admonition. To grant employment and rule faithfully is very important, also. That people can run economics properly and favorably and help others in the process is important.

Solomon said: like the desire for money, hell never has her fill; it is never enough.

One Life to Love others with, One Eternity; The One decides which among the people of earth are His to keep. Here I AM and the children that God has given Me.

It is written that the false worldly prophet leader will force everyone, slave or free, on the earth to receive a mark of the number of his name on their foreheads. Therefore, on the earth, at that time, there still exists 'slavery'.

Jesus said: the one who sins is slave to sin, but if The Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

Only because we, the people are too scared to back them. The UN is good. They try to look after human rights and we, the people don't always back them because of our own limited selfish fears. I am currently a union delegate and am finding the truth out of how hard this job is in the face of a giant with money that threatens the livelyhood of the people in preference to his own selfish greed.

Agreed wholeheatedly! However we, as consumers don't always make the choices which are right for all. Our selfish wants go against this human rights law. We need to unite to be able to free the people as the people in favour of human rights.

I am a union delegate with the NUW (national union of workers). Most are factory workers and have no knowledge to be in a position to fight. Some are knowledgeble as they have degrees and doctorates (in market and social research) yet they are still intimidated by the giant who threatens their livelyhood with cuts in shifts. The union is getting stronger but it seems that even Julia Gillard (minister for education, employment and workplace relations) has forgotten her roots as a socialist in favour of power to the people when she took her job as a minister in the gov.

There is a meeting coming up with her. I will be there as a union delegate. Not sure I am learned enough to make an impact but I am trying to learn so that the people can have more rights. If we turn a blind eye we are like the Levite priest who turned a blind eye when the Samaritan didn't.

When people sacrifice their own benefits for the greater good. That is when change happens. I think that people should pull their weight and that the deserving should be rewarded. However, I don't think the people who are more affluent should be oppressing or taking advantage, in any way, the people who are their workers.

In exchange for being able to pay Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods and the hundreds of American athletes millions to endorse their products, Nike and other shoe and athletic apparel companies overseas have cut costs by employing cheap and in this case, free labor. Jordan, still the most recognizable endorser of Nike products, has been oft criticized for being silent on social issues. Perhaps its time for some of these athletes to speak up or for the public to hold these icons accountable for their silence while they profit at the expense of others less fortunate.

On the other hand, what is the alternative? Bringing the shoe factories back to the U.S. where the workers have to be paid $25 an hour, be given benefits, vacation time, sick leave, workmen's compensation when they get injured? Where the company has to conform to OSHA safety standards, where they're taxed big time, have to contend with strikes, etc, etc.? A simple pair of no-name sneakers could end up costing $200 or more. Is a clear conscience worth that?

But, they are not NIKE employees.

When my lawn guy, Mr. Sook (a great Korean guy, who came to the U.S. soon after the Korean War), comes to mow and maintain my yard 3 or so times a month, he has an entire crew with him. I pay Mr. Sook X-amount of dollars. How much does he give his "employees"? Are his employees "illegal"? I have no idea.....I hire "Mr. Sook", and, whoever happens to be on his crew the day they come to our home is HIS responsibility.....

If you want...take these jobs away from those in these countries......and, then the workers go from having a fair/poor paying job....to no job at all.....

Greetings! Our Government, if We Love God Is the New Jerusalem to come. Our Govenment is via The Messiah which is Jesus The Christ our Lord and Savior. Our Government would plead the cause of the poor, our Government would be Upright and Good if We Loved The God of Heaven and our neighbors as ourselves.

The Dragon's Government is oppressive, the Dragon's Government is suffering of other people, 'the dark powers that be's' Government is the false worldly pursuits of things not important compared to Justice, and Mercy, and Faithfulness as Christ had Taught. Jesus said that God will do to anyone who is not rich towards Him and His causes as the parable says, where the so-called rich person has a bumper crop year and does nothing for the poor and does not honor God first and he dies instead to face The Judgment Day thinking that he would keep all of his/her possessions when Solomon said in the wisdom that God Gave him that everything that we work so hard for in this life will be given to someone else, eventually, and it is therefore meaningless to pursue those things only. Jesus said be on your guard against greed of any sort.

We are not of those who Judge others by the mere appearance of things on the outside, alone, like the images of animals or beasts like dragons which a certain peoples find present in their Temples, at times. For God had allowed the Dragon to enter with the angels before loving His enemies in long suffering patience and diligence while maintaining that what comes out of people can make them unfit to Worship God like immoral sexual sins and the like.

Clear conscience is worth more than all the money in the world. I'd rather be a beggar in the street than a rich man who has not got a clean conscience. Life, for me is all about principle and that is where my riches are. Each day God helps me to stick to my guns and I know I am richer for it.

Cutting costs is onething. Treating people as slaves and even getting them to sign contract which they don't understand is another and fully crimminal, in my view. The alternative does not have to be to bring the company back to the US ,(although that would certainly be looking after your own backyard in favour of cutting costs) but to treat fairly the workers you have.

Does this mean we ought to stand aside and allow the dragon's gov to do what they like? While we stand our our lofty hill in judgement as the poor are being oppressed before our very eyes![:@] Do we just watch as the Levite priest did in Luke 10:32 ? No! we should intervene in the dragons gov through our gov or whichever way we are able to do this. Eeven if we are scared or worried about our own pitiful pittence and existence. The Scriptues say: we struggle not against people in the flesh and blood, but like angels, against the power, and authorities, and the spiritual rulers in the heavenly places. The 'prince' of the powers of the air is our great and dangerous enemy; 'the infidel '.

Thank you for pointing out the old adage: all that it takes for evil to triumph is for 'good' people to do nothing. Ever heard the so-called 'gospel' that makes The Word of God to be of no effect in the lives of the people? It goes something like: 'you cannot do anything at all that would be considered worthy of honor with God so that you would counted among those called by Grace to be worthy of Paradise.' Jesus said: but you do nothing to gain honor with God. We can do nothing apart from Christ is written. If one wants to remain apart from Christ, then, they should do nothing.

Jesus said: make every effort to enter The Kingdom of God, for many will attempt to but not be able to.

Jesus said: these were Given the right to eat of the Tree of Life which is in The Garden of God in Paradise by Grace. For it is impossible to be found pleasing to God without Faith and faith without any Works of God through the people is dead. Therefore, let the people move out in the faith that The Holy One has provided them, by Grace, unto works that can be counted by Grace to gain honor with God. For God has provided everything that we need freely, so let us take up the cause, freely, of the downtodden as The Prophet said: to bind up the broken, to loose every yoke that was heavy in the spiritual against the captives helf hostage by the devil. This is The Acceptable Year of The Lord's Favor is what is written. The fulfillment of this is found through Christ and His Works in our lives. Jesus said: I have not found your works to be complete in the sight of My God. If our works are evil, Jesus will deny us before The Father in Heaven as He has Told Us ahead of time. They say one thing: that they 'know' me, but their actions deny Me. For the wages of sin is death and the Gift of God is eternal Life in Christ through The Welling Up of The Holy Spirit of God unto Treasures that may be stored up in the Heavenly realms in accordance With The Word that Jesus spoke. Jesus said that very Word that I Spoke will condemn, in the end. Jesus said for Judgment (God's decisions) I have come into the world.

Jesus sent His disciples to invite everyone good and bad and The Father will sort it out later. If we will do nothing to clothe ourselves and feed ourselves in the spiritual; then we will not have the oil that we need at that time for we must buy it now. We must ask for the clothes in the spiritual and the oil to be found prepared enough to not be cast out into the taxed ones realm of The Kingdom of God. There will be no end to the gehena for those that God does not count, by Grace, to be found worthy to eat from the Tree of Life that He Plants in The Garden Of God in Paradise called the new earth. The taxed ones are outside, they are the subjects of The Kingdom, but a son remains forever. The people that sin are slaves to sin, and God will Give to each person according to what they have done. For the wages of sin are death, but God grants the called and chosen and faithful Eternal Life as an inheritance. He clothes the meek with Salvation!

Everything that we have is by The Grace of God.

The UN upholds and advocates Human Rights and I am for human rights. If they are abusing their position then they should be held accountable, sounds like you are equipped to do that, given your insight! Have you done anything about it?

Yes, I am saved by grace and everything which is good in me is by grace. I am not so sure I understand how you are going to apply this practically to the NIKE slaves as the good Samaritan.

Are you going to go in there and preach as they are being held captives to tyrants. Do you think your words will stand in light of the conditions?

Asian States: Bangladesh, China, Jordan, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia.
Eastern European States: Azerbaijan, and the Russian Federation.
Latin American & Caribbean States: Cuba, Mexico, and Uruguay.
Western European & Other States: Canada, Germany, and Switzerland.

Sounds like a great collection of nations that will force Nike to clean up its act.

Well, thanks for the encouragement! So where are the rich Christians that brag that they are blessed and all that? How far is their righteousness extending. Show me and then I will show you a kingdom worthy to be a part of. Or are all the wealthy Christians too good to show the righteousness of God to the nations? Do they just want to preach a message which will make them great and generate an income for them while the rest of the world suffers? Preach "thy kingdom come" to me only while the rest of the world suffers, go on and we'll see how far you get when you get to heaven!

NIKE is conducting their business in an unconscionable manner and they ought to know about it! The world ought to know about it! Especially with the games coming up.

Not to seem cold-hearted, but how do Nike's employees fare in contrast with their fellow country-men. How would they fare if Nike ceased to operate in the country? What are the country's leaders doing to improve the lives of their citizens? What has the UN Human Rights council done to ensure that human rights exist?

Jesus said you say that you 'know' me and your actions speak that you do not. Jesus said these people come near to me with unacceptable mouthing offs and do nothing to gain Honor with God. Jesus said that these would be counted worthy of greater punishment for they had the Law of Moses the Prophet of God who left everything to serve God Only and the Holy writing of The Apostles of God who left everything counting it as trash compared to knowing The True Christ which is Jesus Our Lord; but were judging people for monetary gain, instead. Jesus said you call me Lord, and rightly so, but you do not do what I say?

These have suffered is the parable of Christ, while these have received their rewards in the material realm. Therefore, Christ will try many by fire as written in parable of the so-called 'rich' man who did nothing for God in caring for lazarus his neighbor. The 'rich' man could go to Church and Jesus said: let them listen to the Law Of Love and the Prophets of God. For if one does not believe them, they will not believe a miracle of someone coming back from the dead which has already occured through The Resurrection and The Life at Calvary. These even had The Son of Man's Testimony, therefore they will counted the more accountable for this! How will we escape? is The Apostle's Testimony! These are only succeeding, to themselves, in allowing The Word of God and The Great and bountiful fruits that can be bore through The Presence of God to be choked into nothing profitable like written in The Prophets of God. Altogether unprofitable have we become in turning to our own ways instead. For Jesus said: which did what I commanded? The ones who say they are going? Or, the ones who did?

I know, from personal experience, that many so-called believers sit around in a group and brag about their pursuits of worldly positions in companies like Nike and do nothing about these things; themselves. I know that they did not lift a finger to help them. So interested are they in gaining True Wealth! How Wise of Some to ignore the plight of the downtrodden while building a house of planks. For it is written: is now the time to dwell in houses built by men, when The Body of Christ suffers Worldwide? If The Body is The Temple of The Holy Spirit, as written, what more do we need than our own temple to be useful in the things of The Kingdom of God? For it is The Feast of The Tabernacles during The Millennium Period that is The Millennium Feast! That they may be one as We Are ONE, and that the Love wherewith you love me may be in them. One In The Spirit, One Love, many different parts.

How can these who are evil say anything profitable is Jesus' Word?!

Well, thanks for the encouragement! So where are the rich Christians that brag that they are blessed and all that? How far is their righteousness extending. Show me and then I will show you a kingdom worthy to be a part of. Or are all the wealthy Christians too good to show the righteousness of God to the nations? Do they just want to preach a message which will make them great and generate an income for them while the rest of the world suffers? Preach "thy kingdom come" to me only while the rest of the world suffers, go on and we'll see how far you get when you get to heaven!

NIKE is conducting their business in an unconscionable manner and they ought to know about it! The world ought to know about it! Especially with the games coming up.
