Well, I guess by now many of you have heard about Matthew Holt, our piano player leaving the [See the attached file]group. This weekend will be his last weekend with us. We sure hate to see him go, but totally understand wanting to be home more with his new baby Fletcher and wife Lindsey. Matthew got a great job at Bethel College in McKenzie, TN where he lives as Assistant Director of their Renaissance Music Program. Bethel’s “performance troupe” uses choirs, ensembles and soloists to showcase the talents of Bethel students. The group performs a wide range of musical styles.. including: bluegrass to jazz, show tunes to "doo-wop" and the best-loved songs of faith, both traditional and contemporary. As you can well tell, God has changed Matthew's direction, but not his goals. This is a great opportunity for Matthew and we are so proud of him and fully support his decision. This job actually came available 2 years ago before Matthew got married and he turned it down. Matthew has been like a son (as well as the other guys in our group) to Tracy and I and we are gonna miss him so much, but we wish him nothing but the best and pray God will bless him abundantly! We are in the process of trying out several guys for the piano position and we hope to name a replacement within a few days. Pray that we will choose the person God wants to be here.
I'm looking forward to seeing Matthew at his "last" concert with The Perrys. DeeAnn told me to be sure to bring the hankies!!!

The Perrys appeared in S IL several times over the past few years, and I have had the privilege of hearing Matthew play a few times. We wish him the very best in his new endeavour, and we wish the Perrys the very best also, as they continue their ministry with another talented piano player.

Ok, I posted on most recent concerts but I want to post here. Saturday night was a difficult but extremely enjoyable night if that makes any sense. I told Matt when I got there if he made me cry I was going to hurt him to which Joe say - 'you'll cry- I cried last night' and Matt said 'I may be crying to'. Those were true words.
When Matt sat down at the piano my thought was 'that's the last time I'll see him sit there and play for them' and the tears started welled up, I looked up at Tracy and he looked like he was about to lose it too. Several times during the night each member of the group shed tears. At the front I couldn't tell how many in the audience were crying as well but I know I was.
I talked with Matt several times and it was so easy to see the conflict of loving two things pulling him. Matt is a tremendous young man and Lindsey and Fletcher are forunate to have him. God opened this door at a time Matt was missing the 'firsts' in his son's life. I know that God will use Matt at the college to shape many other young people's lives musically and who knows how that may impact SGM at some point.
Matt will be missed and I know that Libbi and Tracy are praying that God will put the right person at the keyboard. Let's all join them in that prayer!

I, too, was at the concert. My wife and I drove over from Tuscaloosa and really enjoyed Matt and the crew. The Perry's are wonderful folks and Mark Trammell is .... well Mark Trammell. He's an awesome child of God. We had a wonderful evening.

They tried out someone on Saturday, they had several others that had tried out from my understanding.. I didn't ask Lib or Tracy if they had made a decision as they were both very emotional during the evening.
I'm sure they will do a press release once things are complete.
