I almost teared up at the thought of Brian walking. I got nauseous when I read about the accident. Was the anyone hurt??

I don't know how bad the accident was. I just know that there was one and it was one of the tractor trailers involved. Sounded like it was right in town.

I'm so glad things are going well for you!

The PT for Brian might be painful, but it really, really will help the bones heal. The strengthening of muscles causes bones to also have to "thicken", so it speeds up their growth. Make sure he is getting lots and lots of calcium. If you can find a Hydroxyapetite supplement that would be one of the better things, I just read a study HERE on it's use in women in relation to bone density.

Hydroxyapetite is the compound of calcium found in bones.

He's been on a lot of calcium and vitamin D since a week after the accident. Actually, that and one aspirin a day are the only things he's on now.

Well, I would still look specifically for a Hydroxyapetite supplement. It's calcium basically from bone which makes it easier for your bodies calcium "receptors" to use...

Anyway, off my A&P soap box, lol.

Visiting the neurosurgeon is always a wakeup call for me. It reminds me to be thankful Brian's brain and spinal cord are intact. Wow.

Brian's spine is healing well. Another issue did show up on the xrays though, a slight slip at the L4-L5 level. He has to have a CT for that but the doctor didn't seem too worried about it, just wanted to check it and make sure it wasn't serious. He'll have that CT and then go there the first week in November to see if he can lose the shell then.

Brian was seen by a resident first...one of the residents who saw him in the ER. It's nice for people who saw him in such rough shape to see him doing well now. She did injure him though. She was checking his reflexes and smacked him in the bad knee.

Good!

I am sorry about his knee. The resident must have felt awful.

He walked some more in physical therapy yesterday, quite a bit longer distance. I can't WAIT for Thursday when I can see him walk! He doesn't seem impressed with what he calls his "jelly leg", but I sure am! Of course it's a jelly leg...he went over 10 weeks without putting any weight on it at all, and had massive bone, soft tissue, and muscle injuries! It's going to take time, but he WILL walk on his own again, which is truly amazing. I'll take pictures Thursday if he'll let me.

We finally got a check from disability yesterday! WOOHOO!!! I have to call them today because the check was only through the middle of August...and, um, it's the middle of October now??? I wonder if they can only issue one month at a time or something? But anyway, I have to call them and find out.

His mission today...to change the motor on the woodsplitter. He got the old one off over the past few days, with Noah's help. I my determined handyman.

We went back and forth about him going to a men's conference on the 18th. We finally decided that he can go, but we have to stay out there one night. It's 2.5-3 hours away and he just can't do that trip twice in one day. So we've found places for all the kids (except Esther) to spend the night and now I need to find a handicapped-friendly hotel for us. We'll get to sleep in the same bed for the first time since the accident!!! We're still deciding what we want to do Sunday morning, options being A) go to the church the conference is at, B) go to my Aunt's church closeby, C) get up early and drive home to go to our church, or D) sleep in and just drive home at check-out time. Hmmmm...

I vote for sleeping in and having more one-on-one (with one) time with Brian.

While not very spiritual, this would be my pick! It's not often you have the opportunity to be decadent and sleep in!

I added a new poll. We're leaning toward one of those options already, but I'll refrain from saying which one until you all vote.

I agree! Most of the kiddos taken care of by someone else! No laundry or dishes screaming from the other room... I pray that you relax and enjoy!!

Not to be difficult or argumentative . . .

. . . But I think "spiritual" can come in different ways. A marriage between a Christian man and a Christian wife has very significant spiritual aspects to it.

I believe that Our Lord always knows what someone (or a couple) needs. Sometimes the most spiritual thing a couple can do is to spend one-to-one time with each other . . . even if that means on a Sunday morning while church is in progress.

Again, I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm just sharing my perspective.

Donna . . . I voted that y'all stay in.
But your super mod powers probably already revealed that.

I agree. I also think it would be good to set aside some time that morning for thanking and praising God together for all you have been brought through.

I think that may be some of what I was trying to get to but couldn't put it as well as you did.

Hmmm... the poll seems to be following an overwhelming trend so far.

How did you all know the option we were leaning toward?

Brian will probably get at least one CD from the speaker, so maybe we'll listen to that on the drive home. We always love to have our own little worship time in the car too.

And...there is a huge outlet center on our way home. We're thinking of stopping there and doing some Christmas shopping. Totally unspiritual, but fun...LOL!

I voted for the Vaca option, too. You are both so active in your church and your walk with God that I know you will be good stewards of some sleep in time!

I know it's okay with God if we miss church. We just so rarely miss church that it seems weird to PLAN on missing church when neither of us are sick. Silly, I know...
