Doctor said sometimes the body need the irritation (read...PAIN) of the weight-bearing to realize there is a break there that needs healing and because the rod is there stabilizing it, it won't hurt anything to put weight on it even though it has not healed When you started talking I got worried about putting weight on it but I guess having a rod in there makes sense that it's ok. Pain though :( That is so great about his hip healing like it did. I never thought about it before but it makes sense that the body would focus on one area over another. I imagine those nano things off of Star Trek going in and repairing it.

More praise...my brother spent a few days and nights in jail after being arrested last week for not taking care of many traffic tickets. I don't know what happened in that jail, but Matt came out a different person. Then he went to see Fireproof with my parents last weekend and was obviously touched by what he saw and heard. He has been telling his druggie friends that he won't come around and that God has hold of him and he is not fighting any more. He is starting the Experiencing God Bible study at my parents' church, and has asked the pastor about the membership process in their church! He still has a lot of things to man up and pay the price for, consequences of bad choices over the past few years, but PRAISE GOD, it seems he is finally on the right track! Pray that he keeps his focus on the cross. I'm sure satan isn't done with this fight for my brother. And MORE praise...my mom went to her spine doctor today (she has a worker's comp injury...a stress fracture and a slipped disk in her back). She is out of work for the next 6 weeks at least, at full pay because it was a work injury. My appointment with the OB is next Thursday and we will be scheduling my hysterectomy, hopefully for the first week in November. My mom will still be out of work and though she can't lift, she is available to be a big help for me, with general kid watching and maybe some driving Brian to PT if someone there can get his wheelchair in and out for her. The day of surgery, she will stay at the hospital with Esther so that I can nurse her as soon as I wake up, and will stay there with me as long as I am there so that the baby can be there. Esther's not too big for her to lift.

Donna, I just noticed that the poll is up to 53 votes, from 48 that last time I noticed it! That is too funny! I voted BEFORE she was born, but I am not pointing any fingers! LOL

LOL Yeah, and I can see who voted afterward. Cheaters! Brian took his first steps today!!!! He had PT for his arm and will be evaluated for his leg PT next Thursday, but they got him up with a walker today. He said he took 10 steps, which I missed since I was in the van with the monkeys.

There will be plenty more steps to see, and it may have been best you weren't there anyway. That must have hurt SO much. Good for Brian!

He said it actually didn't hurt any more than it did before he walked. His knee has been really hurting since it's been rainy...that's where the tibia broke through and probably a great amount of scar tissue is. The spot the femur broke through also hurts him. While getting milk after PT, the cashier let me know that this farm had another accident yesterday. Different driver and one of their tractor trailers they use to bring in corn and hay for silage, but still same farm. I'll let the lawyer know so he can get a copy of the police report (freedom of information law allows anyone to get those). The lawyer (well, actually, the caseworker is who we deal with most of the time) said all these things show a history of negligence and bad driving.
