Praying that the paperwork is completed quickly and that there are no hindrances in the path of it being accepted and processed quickly. ((((((((((((((((((Donna, Brian, family))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Dear Jesus, Please bring healing here, and please let those disability papers be found without redoing them. Cradle this family, Lord, they need it. Amen.

I wonder if they were actually masking some of these things, KWIM? I'm sure they do different things to different people. You're right about them doing different things to different people!! Dh has a high tolerance for pain meds, so he doesn't act loopy. We didn't realize at first that the irritability was a side effect of the meds. I'm praying for you guys!

I have a high pain tolerance and meds easily make me loopy and often irritable. Steroids were the worst for me when it came to irritability though. It is different for everyone.

Yah, I would guess it would be the meds. I was on percocet for an extended period of time, and yah, it messes with you! I'd get weepy for no reason at all. Has Brian had any counseling at all? This has been a MAJOR life change for all of you. No doubt he's carrying around alot of guilt (that isn't his to carry!!!). He probably doesn't want to share it with you because you are overwhelmed, too. Perhaps your pastor could stop by for a visit with just Brian?

Any idea how long it would last if it is withdrawal? I finally made an appointment for my wrist. Next Tuesday, after Noah will be home from school, so I should be able to take Hannah and the baby.

I missed something... what is wrong with your wrist? Sounds like it might be withdrawals. I hope it is just that and that his body can adjust real soon!

Earlier this year I was in the hospital with some large stones stuck in the ducts going to my liver and pancreas (gallbladder was already gone). They had me on morphine for 3-4 days. About 4 days after the last dose of morphine I was just a bit manic for several hours. The following day I felt a lot better. That was after only a few days on morphine. I can't imagine what I would have been like if I was unable to get up and move around during that manic few hours. Brian had been on morphine for a lot longer and on other very heavy pain meds. Some pain meds have worse withdrawal than morphine. It could take several days to several weeks for his body to completely detox especially since he is still on some meds. The anesthesia for a single surgery alone could cause problems for up to 6 months after surgery. He should progressively get better. If he gets worse, call his doctor.

I missed something... what is wrong with your wrist? Remember way back...on the first night I came home-home (not to my mom's) from the hospital, and I tripped coming up the stairs? I thought I jammed my thumb. It never swelled up or bruised and actually didn't bother me too much at the time. My knee hurt badly for about a week and the bruise is JUST now, over a month later, almost gone. Anyway, since Brian has been home, my arm/wrist has had constant use and is now giving me sharp pains whenever I turn it wrong or lift something as "heavy" as a dinner plate. I tried wrapping it in an ace bandage, but it was too hot and itchy and didn't help much. I've been ignoring it, but it is definitely not getting better. So now that baby girl is here...I really need to have it looked at, probably x-rayed, and see what is going on. Brian has been irritated with me for not getting it checked, but...really, what difference does it make? None of what I have been doing can go without being done. It was a lot better while in the hospital having Esther though, so I know using it is making it worse.

It was a lot better while in the hospital having Esther though, so I know using it is making it worse. That stinks big time! And yes, I remember when you tripped and hurt your wrist and knee. That bruise was a doozy hey? That is so not fun that it is still bothering you like that. I don't see how you can go day by day and not use it though so I understand why you have been putting it off. I hope nothing is wrong and that it will be better soon. Sometimes sprains like that just take a while to get better when you have to continue using your wrist like that. (((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))) Is there a bandage that you can use that will help your wrist? Something that most people would use for tendonitis or something similar? Or is it not in the right place and a bandage wouldn't help out? Lorne has a bandage that he uses to keep his wrist from moving when it bothers him and it does work, but it is annoying to wear all the time.

What did they do for that, Sarah? I'm afraid it's something like that. I told Brian when he is well enough, we are going on a vacation. I think we both need something to look forward to...to remind us that what is now isn't forever. It just seems like it while we wait for his leg bones to heal. It'll be 10 weeks since the accident before he can put weight on that leg...maybe, if they let him then. Ten weeks is a really long time. But it's not forever.

God is so cool. Noah left Brian's playstation wireless controller on and the batteries died. In Brian's search for new batteries, which we keep on the shelf on the computer desk, he found a wad of money. I do remember putting that money there sometime after his accident, intending to put it in my wallet later. Someone gave it to us, but I can't for the life of me remember who, or maybe it was one of those I never knew. Either way, God knew we would need it later on, so he made me forget it was there (if only I could blame all my forgetfulness on God ). With not having his disability straightened out, we have to stretch what we have for the next two weeks until we get another check from the insurance company. I wasn't worried about it, but now I'm even less worried. Brian is now glad that Noah left the controller on. And we all had a good "thanks, God" laugh. BTW, guys, thanks for letting me post both the good and the bad here. It's good to have a place to be able to ask for prayer when we're struggling, and also rejoice when we see God moments. I appreciate you all more than you know, even when I don't respond to each individual post.
