I have a concern that I'd like to address with all of you here. When I googled my username, I noticed that I had a lot of hits for these forums. I thought that only other forum users could view my posts.

This disturbs me because there were times that I'd posted information believing that only other forum users were viewing it. I'm especially concerned with the information I've posted in the women's only folders and my blog. If I'd only known that all my postings were available to everyone on the internet when I signed on here, then maybe I'd been more careful what I'd posted.

With that said, I think that there should be certain parts of the forums that are only available to the registered users of those forums, particularly the Women's and Men's Only, Personal Issues folders and the Mental Health Encouragement and Debate threads, among others. The stuff people post in these folders and threads is sensitive information, so I think that some type of privacy protection should be in place so that what they post there would not get into the hands of a stalker, sex offender, or other dangerous person.

That's my concern anyway. Anyone agree with me?

I completely forgot about that thread and my response in it. I must be having a senior moment tonight or something like that. [:D]

I guess the idea to ask this came about when someone asked a similar question on a secular wellness forums site I visit often.

I have plenty of those [sm=wink.gif]

It's always best to remember anyone can read just about anything on the 'net. We have thousands of people who do not log in, or maybe are not even members, who read our forums. Like right at this very moment it says

Active Users: There are 82 members and 3828 guests.


That is a lot of unknown people reading.

I have a huge concern with FRAUD on this message board.

I received a PM from a member "likeme4u" regarding some outlandish ploy about wanting to give away a million dollars to a christian to fulfill her husband's dying wish to invest the money in a christian organization. She said that he died, then her daughter died and now she has cancer and wants to see his dream come to life.

I was extremely skeptical from the beginning and wouldn't give this person any of my information. Its by God's good grace that HE gave me the mind to check this bank out online and it is listed on www.fraudwatchers.com. '

I guess you all don't have a way of screening members as they sign up..but its troubling especially being on a Christian website.

Just thought I would put that out there for anyone else that has received a message from this person.

That person has been dealt with, Clarity.

That scam came off Noah's Ark on crutches, and I would hope no one would fall for it.

We cannot keep people from signing up with the intent to attempt such scams--they already agree to abide by the terms of service when they sign up, but clearly they are not being honest about that, so how could we expect them to be honest if we asked them if they were just signing up to run the Nigerian Scam on new members?

We can just boot them as they are reported to us, and pray that no one falls for their scam.

But, a good rule of thumb on forums and in life, is that people do not contact strangers and try to give them huge sums of money....
