I believe now would be a good time to share another wintery proverb: When you begin to see that you may not achieve all that you had thought you would, when you begin to see that you will not gain everything that you desired---then, lower your expectations. Several years ago I shared this with a minister friend who was heading off to Australia to meet his online interest for possible marriage and a new start. He said he would make the above his "mantra", a somewhat humorous reference coming from a preacher. I last heard he had found a job in his non-ministry field and apparently everything else worked out as well. I wonder if my proverb, his "mantra", was of any help. When you begin to see that you may not achieve all that you had thought you would, when you begin to see that you will not gain everything that you desired---then, lower your expectations.

Good morning, Wintery Man. That's a good proverb. Sort of along the lines of "Wake up, dummy! You don't deserve anything so quit acting like the world should hand itself to you on a silver platter!" Or maybe not... In any case, yours is much more eloquent.

ORIGINAL: wintery Good morning, Lady Lion! I think the aforementioned proverb cannot be read without a smile, so it's subtly encouraging--I hope. Thanks for stopping by. You always bring a different kind of richness to the cooler! That's like saying I'm "unique" or "interesting", right? You know, not quite right but you're too polite to say it in so many words.

Cool off here in the cooler--sorry about your big city woes, but I have your new avatar for that situation right here! I always loved Eva Gabor when I was a kid. So pretty and that accent! Not long ago I convinced the kids to watch a rerun of Green Acres and they loved it. It, like Eva, is a timeless classic.

While all of God's creatures are "unique" and "interesting", sometimes there is a "richer". from Merriam-Webster enrich : : to make rich or richer esp. by the addition or increase of some desirable quality, attribute, or ingredient a: to add beauty to b: to enhance the taste of c: to make (a soil) more fertile d: to improve the nutritive value of (a food) by adding nutrients (as vitamins or amino acids) and especially by restoring part of the nutrients lost in processing e: to process so as to add or increase the proportion of a desirable ingredient ========================================= Sometimes there is a "richer", and some bring a richer kind of richness; an enriched richness. That sounds SO much better than "not quite right". That was really a very nice thing to say, thank you.

The W.C. Handy music festival continues in Florence, Alabama. There are many, many music events, day and night, during this week each year. Yesterday the section of Mobile Street between Seminary and Court streets was blocked off, as it is every year for a jazz band concert in the middle of the day. Tents are raised, chairs are set out, and official "sawhorses" block the ends of the only street in town that has a cobblestone pavement. I heard quite a good jazz band playing with the lead played by a muted trumpet. Alas, I must work and can't walk around and enjoy the festivities much. At mid-day it was 87 and a nice breeze was shuffling through, making a beautiful day for the event. Some of you may be familiar with Charles Billingsley and Ivan Parker who will take part in a concert here with a local traveling praise and worship choir which is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a performance Saturday night.

When I opened up this little thread, I intended to make it my one-stop to post whatever I was doing that day and then whatever random comment came into my mind during the day. So much better than a one-way blog, anyone could chime in with whatever feedback. Part two of that is, some people have regular online relationships in these pages--which I do not, as I only recently even looked at them. So this is where I would throw out my comments rather than interrupt the happy fellowship of others enjoying ongoing conversations. So, it's sort of a blog in that way, or anyone can say hi or anything else they want. I'm not thin-skinned but I'm not into vulgarity, though. Thanks to all who have stopped by to help relieve my boredom. As a kid I wasn't bored and could always find something interesting to do, even if it was to watch the grass grow. Now, since I read and type rather quickly my definition of boredom seems to relate to watching online activity which is sometimes s-l-o-w.
