Me, insomia? I did sleep for about 5-6 hours then I woke up again. When I signed off last night, I still had 50 unreads to go. When I signed back in, it was back up to 78 instead. I am presently at 62 unreads now.

See you later!

Church signs which I saw in Tennessee on Saturday: "God likes cheerful...until we brag about it!" "God is a sharpshooter...Why try dodging?" "Use GPS to guide you...God's Powerful Spirit." I sometimes think the church sign message is for the amusement of the person who put it up...period. Well, at least there's some Christians in Tennessee, and they like their signs.

I want to go to North Carolina and see the graves of the siamese twins Chang & Eng Bunker in Mt. Airy. http://www.blueridgecountry.com/newtwins/twins.html

While you're at it, go to Wilkes County and check out Tom Dula's grave.

Any story with this line: Ann was set free but two years later she became ill with a fever and died screaming that demon cats surrounded her bed. ...has to be further researched, especially since this link has a line that says another version of the story almost totally contradicts the events in that one.

There are a lot of stories that directly contradict each other concerning Tom Dula. I grew up in that area and heard them all... or at least most of them.

Okay, I read at least two other versions of this tragedy and found out it's an annual play in the NC town where it happened. At least, in one of the stories, Dula was visited by a Methodist minister and was baptized, and prayed for hours before his hanging. And he stated before they hung him that he never harmed the girl. There's no way for a happy ending there, but at least the possibility of his salvation has a redemptive quality which I'll settle for.

Here's the backstory to the book Cold Mountain that I didn't know. It's a beautifully written book, if you haven't read it. I never bothered to see the movie.
