Did anyone attend? My minister of music and his brother went and they are so excited about what they learned there! It was an awesome week and I believe they said it was the largest class ever.

DeeAnn,
This was the second year I've been and it was incredible! The staff is 2nd to none and I certainly learned a lot.
The evening services are worth going for alone,it was amazing to witness what happens in those services! The school is moving to Lee University in Cleveland,TN next year and Steve will be able to expand the programs offered.

What is your m.o.m.'s name? I think we met.

My M.O.M. is Justin Burns, he and his brother Travis were there. Next year both of them intend to go and their younger brother Jared is probably going too (he is the REALLY talented one but don't tell them I said so!!! - they are all very talented and we love them!)

They told me about it moving next year, that is awesome!!! I think Stephen Butler is coming to our church in the next month or so to help with some of our music too!

I went. This was my second year. I love going and I'm excited about the move. Hopefully better food!

That was my daughter's complaint the year she went to Stamps Baxter (at the same location)! [:D]

She or I one may try to go next year, we'll have to see how things work out. I know Justin and his brothers are going and we may have some other folks from our area that are interested.

cinwood -> RE: Steve Hurst School of Music (7/17/2008 8:50:14 AM)

what kind of stuff do they teach there?

DeeAnnBailey -> RE: Steve Hurst School of Music (7/17/2008 9:17:43 AM)

Steve's school is very ministry oriented. That was one thing Justin mentioned several times. While there is a lot of musical training and as Justin said "big name teachers" an emphasis is placed on the ministry aspect of your music.

You have great sources of info on this at your church - Eric, Dustin and Mark have all taught there and I think (but don't hold me to this) Steve will be at Mark's homecoming and I'm sure he will be happy to give you mroe info.

I know Joyce Reid gets on here from time to time and if she sees this, she can give you a lot of specifics! Here is the website but they don't have anything for next year yet (they just finished this year on Friday).

Thank you DeeAnn. I'll check out the website.

Steve offered a one day class last year during MTT HC at our church, but it was too short of notice for me and I couldn't attend. I was hoping he might do that this year, but I haven't heard yet whether he'll even be there or not.

Walter said at the GC homecoming he thought Steve would be at the MTT homecoming but it wasn't definite.

I'm starting work on a new CD next week for a lady that went to the school this year and was fortunate enough to get to sing during graduation or something. I know she was really excited about it. She's sending me a song today that she wrote whle she was there. I think she has been for the past several years.

I've know Stephen since the boys met him at Stamps Baxter several years ago, he's a great guy! Chocolate muffins? Do I need to bake before he comes??????? [:)]

There was a particular desert on the cruise this year called melting cake, but our waiter had a difficult to understand accent and the first night I thought he said chocolate muffin instead of chocolate melting.
Stephen has picked on me ever since! (but that didn't stop him from ordering one every night along with me however)
