Leslie_JnJs_mom -> Should you tube be held responsible (7/3/2008 12:26:18 PM)

They were talking about this on the morning news. Some people think You Tube should have to answer for this too. I do not see how they can but there is a problem with kids posting stuff like this for fun.

uncabeeil -> RE: Should you tube be held responsible (7/3/2008 12:29:39 PM)

I don't see how You Tube can be held in any way responsible. It's not like they said "post your videos of launching babies here".

shadowspring -> RE: Should you tube be held responsible (7/3/2008 12:32:59 PM)

I think you YouTube should receive a letter of commendation for the valuable public forum they provide, whereby idiot criminals help law enforcement limit their damage to the community by videotaping their crimes and posting them on the public forum.

Imagine! This baby lives with this thoughtless cruel teen. If the boy hadn't posted his idiocy on YouTube, the baby would still be in danger.

Three cheers for YouTube!

Sideways -> RE: Should you tube be held responsible (7/3/2008 1:07:21 PM)

I kinda agree with Shadowspring. YouTube certainly doesn't encourage this kind of thing, in fact, they've been known to remove and report this stuff fairly quickly.

And it does give the idiot criminals a chance to out themselves and protect the people they want to hurt!

creationtalk -> RE: Should you tube be held responsible (7/3/2008 1:26:37 PM)

YouTube should not be held responsible for the stupid things people do, even if said people place them on YouTube.

Should we sue the automaker when some teen decides it's fun to speed down a dirt road then spin the car in the gravel and ends up harming someone? This is pretty much the same thing.

YouTube provides a forum for people to share videos. They do not and cannot (and should not) police every video that is posted. If they began requiring that every video be approved before posting, then who decides if the video is worthy of posting? Things that we might WANT posted might be censored due to content.

I like that!

Agreed. I'd love to hear the convoluted thinking that results in the idea that You Tube is responsible.

Holding u-tube responsible or not is not the issue. As I have said before, what you are seeing in this and other videos like the one with the teen girl being beaten by her peers, is a Godless generation in action. Just the fact that this boy would videotape and publicly post it, proves it. He likely saw nothing wrong with his reprehensible treatment of this innocent baby...no, he was proud of it and boasted about it.

1 "But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God..." II Timothy 3

Without God, men lose their affection for one another...as the Bible said it would be.

You are right, Kat...

Also, if anyone should be held responsible (in addition to the morons who actually did this) it should be the PARENTS of the baby who left their infant with a sixteen year old teenage boy!

Calea, are you saying that 16 year old teenaged boys are not trustworthy with an infant? Or did you mean this one in particular?

No, I wouldn't say that every 16yo boy is untrustworthy; I know there are plenty who are.

The news clip said that this teen had "never been in trouble before" making it sound as though this was just some out of the blue random thing. I seriously doubt that. Just because the teen had never gotten into trouble with the law (as he will now) I believe that a teen who would do this would have given plenty of signs that he wasn't an appropriate caregiver for an infant. What he did was so evil and cruel that there is no way it was a one time thing. I think the parents were negligent in leaving that poor baby with him and they should be held responsible along with the teen; not youtube!

Jenny-Fair -> RE: Should you tube be held responsible (7/3/2008 6:29:00 PM)

I agree that if the parents saw no signs of problems previous to this, then they weren't parenting ANY of their children.

Mrs.Wifey -> RE: Should you tube be held responsible (7/3/2008 6:46:47 PM)

What a horrible video! The poor baby, I have a 10 month old and the though of someone doing that to my baby makes me cry. Seriously, I had to turn the video off.

It's not Youtube's fault that some people are morons. At least this one got caught.

Kat_D -> RE: Should you tube be held responsible (7/3/2008 6:49:01 PM)

The way I understood it, the baby was left with the parents of the 18 year-old filming the incident and the 16 year-old that actually did the disgusting deed was a friend who was visiting. The parents left the room and while they were in another part of the house, the incident happened. Personally, I think the videographer should face charges also.[:'(]

DreadPirateRandy -> RE: Should you tube be held responsible (7/3/2008 8:16:37 PM)

That video almost made me vomit.

He should be forced to listen to Rosie O'Donnell and Ellen Degeneres as means of torture.

PrincessDonna -> RE: Should you tube be held responsible (7/3/2008 11:33:55 PM)

Youtube is not responsible. Idiots are.

I think if someone did that to my baby, they may not live long enough to be arrested.[>:] I hope the judge is not merciful. My 8 year old would know better than to do that to a baby.

My older kids would do that with each other, if I let them, I'm sure. But not a baby.

locomom -> RE: Should you tube be held responsible (7/4/2008 12:24:47 AM)

Although it's disturbing that these two committed this act, it's more so that they then desired to post it for others. The bragging about that follows makes the whole scenario extra disturbing. I'm glad the news states that the baby is OK, but I think they should not post the video.

Me too. I was shocked and started bawling. I couldn't even watch it anymore. I can't not comprehend people being so cruel and heartless to an innocent baby.

OneOfHisJewels -> RE: Should you tube be held responsible (7/4/2008 4:39:57 AM)

[:(][:'(] I wonder WHAT ON EARTH possessed that boy to do that. Doesn't he know that baby has FEELINGS?????? When I first saw this thread, I was afraid it was going to be the parents that did it, and I'm glad it wasn't the parents, but it is still awful. If I was the mom, I would want everything done against that teen. And, although I felt like going like this [sm=comp1.gif], while watching the video, I did watch the whole thing, and the baby landed in front of the TV, and he could have landed on the TV. HE
COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED[:@]. ARRRGH.

Part of me thinks that to some extent this stems from so much pro abortion teaching in our schools..kids have been taught babies are disposable and without feeling.
