on this board all the threads I have read is about all those you don't believe in (not very uplifting to me)...

so I ask you who do YOU agree with and follow as preachers , ministers and teachers?

I'm fond of Spurgeon. I also have a high regard for C.S. Lewis. Ravi Zacharias is an excellent apologist. Adrian Rogers was spot on. Dr. Erwin W. Lutzer also comes to mind. Also Fred Luter, pastor of Franklin Avenue Baptist Church in New Orleans.

Welcome to Crosswalk.
This can be a hard question to many.
I get good ideas and points of views from many ministers.
Even those I do not agree with, nor would ever follow.

Everything is to be judged by Scripture, but even a point
of view by a false prophet can shed "some" light on something.
If you recognize everything for what it is.

I've read Spurgeon, most of the WoF teachers, some like Watchman Nee, etc.
So, we're all influenced by who we read from. The real question is can we
truly evaluate the teaching by the Word, or do we judge the Word by the
writings of man?

The Holy Spirit "leads" us to truth, but it's our responsibility to examine
what is presented as truth by the TRUTH. Ezekiel reveals that bad things
happen to good and bad alike all so "THAT THEY WILL KNOW THAT I AM
YAHWEH!"

Who do I follow? Personally, I start each day with at least two hours of
Bible Study. I may use research material, but I don't follow any one man's
way of thinking. Exegesis, Context, etc. whatever the term. We are to
follow our Lord and Saviour in all things.

I have always been taught to try the spirits etc to look for GOD not the enemy...so if the teaching is not of GOD then I do not follow it.

But I also think that Dr. Francis Schaffer has been taught a lot by the Spirit of God and I do enjoy his writings.

That's a nice list and one of them is my current mentor and one of them was my past mentor who has passed to be with the Lord.

I'm with R.C. on this one. The Holy Spirit is THE Teacher.

But others have helped me greatly. A. W. Tozer is one of the best. But I've appreciated many---and yes, it all comes down to what does He say. I follow the teachings of Jesus.

I don't necessarily follow the person, but I do listen to James MacDonald. I find his preaching challenges me to get inside the Bible and to also get inside what I think, to make sure that what he is saying is leading me in the right direction.

Charles Spurgeon is one of my absolute favourite preachers/authors as well...

There is a fairly long list of people whose insights I have found useful, do I follow them as teachers? I have learned from them, but I wouldn't say I am a follower of nay of them.

I like Warren W Weirsbe, as well as J. Vernon McGee, R. C. Sproul, Norman Geisler, AW Towzer, Albert Barnes, John Darby, John Gill, Matthew Henry, Kenneth S Wuest, Archibald Thomas Robertson (Roberson's Word Pictures), Marvin R. Vincent (Vincent's Word Pictures)...to name a few.

John Piper easily is tops in my book. Other well known people would be; Albert Mohler, Ravi Zacharias, St. Augustine of Hippo, Eusebius. Lesser known but not lesser quality; Pastor Charles Murray, Pastor William Davis, Dr. Samuel Swisher, Dr. Michale McMullen.

Oh and Adam, I know who "MB" and "AH" are...I am praying for you bro...[;)][:D]...lol

I haven't encountered a teacher or preacher who hasn't added his own two cents to the Bible's words. I don't like that, so I don't follow them. I look at what the Bible actually says, not what others want it to say or predetermined it to say.

Presumptuous of you...

I encourage people to follow the Bible. If that's adding something, then I guess I'm guilty.

If I'm asked, I'll tell what I understand about the Bible.

I apologize if that causes a scrunched up face...

No need of church then, after all you dont want the word stained by some pastors 2 cents.

I find it hard to believe that McFatty does not have a single preacher that he listens to or I guess he does not attend any form of church and never listens to anyone ever preach the Word?
