Sorry for being a post hog, posting 3 times in a row, lol. I think I mentioned here that my own dad needs drugs for Schizophrenia. He has been diagnosed as depressed, manic, manic-depressed, bi-polar, Schizophrenic, mentally ill...... Sigh. His liver is all but destroyed because of the lithium he took for years. My dad has emphysema and CO-PD now. He has lived in some sort of hospital or nursing home for the last 5 years. He is too much for my mom to handle. My dad is a disabled Vet, and he has been used as a guinea pig by the VA most of my life. This is why I hate drugs so much. I have seen what they do first hand when being tested on someone. It is by the Grace of God that I and my family are even alive today. If you had seen some of the things I have experienced, I dare say, you would agree with me. It is always very apparent when he is on new medication. Sometimes it is a very dangerous change, and the doctors wouldn't listen. They wanted him to "try it for a little longer, it would even out eventually....."! The doctors weren't there when my dad tried to kill my mom, or when he would think he was God. The drugs they used to test on him did not help him or us at all. :( I also have a theory: please hear me out. How many people on anti-depressants do you know that also smoke cigarettes? My dad smoked so much that when he was put in the hospital, I visited my mom and shampooed her rugs. After 5 times of pitch black water, finally, the color of their carpeting started to show up. There are over 4000 chemicals in cigarettes and I honestly believe that any who suffer from depression may very well do so because of smoking or second hand smoke. Do any of you think this could factor in, as well? Have any of you noticed a difference in your own mental state after removing yourselves from first or second hand smoke? I'm sorry, I know this is kind of going off topic. I can start a new thread if need be. :)
