artemis -> "5 tips for GenY" (7/2/2008 4:23:43 PM)

In the last few months, my husband and I have heard from a lot of friends our age (28) or a little younger about how little the churches around here have to offer for young adults. My husband's latest blog post is a somewhat tongue-in-cheek response to that and I thought some others here might find it interesting. I think bigger churches often have programs for young adults, but the small town churches we've been a part of seem to forget about you from the time you graduate high school until the time you have your first child [&:] Anyhow, his blog is...

I agree with his post. I have yet to find a church with a young adult ministry I enjoy going to. There is one big church here that throws three or four "young adult" services a week, but I absoltely hate how long the services are. Shouldn't young adult services be shorter and not longer than the regular adult service... or at least the same length?

at my church we have a young adult sunday school class and we have Tuesday night worship/bible study just for young adults. We then have Adult2 class which is for people over 25+ well mostly when you get married you go up in that class as well...and adult classes are seperated in age groups...but we also have a singles class which is really good and people love it.

Our young adult class is doing a new thing called bridging the gap to help youth transit to young adult class

That's cool, fluffmonkey. We've read about churches doing neat stuff for young adults, we've just never seen one in action [;)]

yes it awesome to have place for young adults, and crowds vary because of where ppl choose to go school or some stop coming after high school but we still have a good crowd that comes every week ^_^

I find it sad that some churches don't have anything for young adults, although I would think if some people step in It could happen for many churches.
