Marcus. -> X Files Movie: I Want to Believe (7/1/2008 12:36:49 PM)

Who else is looking forward to this?

Heatherlea -> RE: X Files Movie: I Want to Believe (7/1/2008 1:00:00 PM)

I'm looking forward to it as well. From what I seen of the trailer it looks like its going to be good.

Marcus. -> RE: X Files Movie: I Want to Believe (7/1/2008 1:02:38 PM)

Have you checked out the internet site for the movie? They have 4 previews there. But I can't get the last one to play.

danas_mom -> RE: X Files Movie: I Want to Believe (7/2/2008 1:34:18 PM)

Counting down the days!!!!! I have waited for this for a VERY long time.

doinkdom -> RE: X Files Movie: I Want to Believe (7/2/2008 4:51:06 PM)

I actually did the snoopy dance when I saw the preview on TV.

[:D]

iluvatar -> RE: X Files Movie: I Want to Believe (7/2/2008 8:22:45 PM)

Granted, I haven't seen the trailers yet, but I wish I could be more excited about this. The show's ending was REALLY disappointing so I lost interest in the whole series.

Marcus. -> RE: X Files Movie: I Want to Believe (7/2/2008 8:31:20 PM)

It was anti-climatic I agree. There was no real closure for the central plot line of the series. However, they did a nice job wrapping up the family storyline around Mulder.

MrFribbles -> RE: X Files Movie: I Want to Believe (7/2/2008 11:52:05 PM)

I'm torn. Much like with Indiana Jones IV, I'm very, very nervous that they'll take something good and mess it up. I really, really want it to be good, because the show was so great (well, for at least 6 seasons...), and the 1st movie was good. So, I'll definitely see it, and I'm optimistic that it'll be good.
I am glad that they've got so many of the originals on there. Otherwise, heh, I'd be much less optimistic.

zmanfan38 -> RE: X Files Movie: I Want to Believe (7/3/2008 12:08:14 AM)

Yes, looking forward to it!

Super-Jack -> RE: X Files Movie: I Want to Believe (7/6/2008 11:04:11 PM)

Not a huge fan of the X-Files. I'll see it on DVD. I see everything. Well, almost everything.

Samantha was taken by ghosts. That was about the biggest ripoff imaginable.

ConstantReader -> RE: X Files Movie: I Want to Believe (7/13/2008 1:10:17 AM)

The show didn't end with Samantha being taken by ghosts. It ended with Mulder and Scully having escaped yet another conspiracy, with the Cigarette-Smoking Man having met his Waterloo. [8|]

Marcus. -> RE: X Files Movie: I Want to Believe (7/13/2008 10:59:07 AM)

We were talking about how they wrapped up Mulder's family plot line, Cow.

It ended with Mulder and Scully cowering in a hotel room in Roswell, NM. CSM did meet his end, apparently. Before this Mulder was broken out of jail by his friends (after having been convicted of murder). So Scully, Skinner, Doggett, Reyes, and Kersh were all accomplices (I think Doggett and Skinner were the ones who actually got him out?). The ending strongly suggested that A.D. Kersh might have been killed or turned into a supersoldier or something, and Skinner was just called into his office.

I really hated that ending.

wait a minutes...how did I miss that? I don't remember that at all...

Do you happen to know what season that happened? Was it the season when Scully had the baby?

wow...I'm bummin' now.

The scene between Mulder and his sister was touching.

I'm pretty sure it was after the baby. But yeah, there was some type of ghost that abducted people (kids?) who they knew were going to be in great danger - as a means of saving them. They knew Samantha was going to be experimented on (or sacrificed to the aliens, I forget), so they took her.

Really? Man, I don't remember that at all. I do vaguely remember something about Kersh dying, but really, the last thing I remember is some sort of military tribunal w/ Mulder being flown in on a helicopter.

Unfortunately the final episode was forgettable.

Not ghosts. Starlight. And most people hated it. Me? I loved it. Scratch that, I LOVED it. I loved that for all the power the Consortium fooled themselves into believing they had, there was something out there that said ENOUGH, and just came and took her away from all that. I fully believe that CSM replaced the real Samantha (that he had no idea what had happened to) with a clone and never let on, and continued raising the clone as though it were Samantha. And I loved that Mulder was finally freed from the guilt he had carried around his entire life about what happened to his sister.

The episodes were Season 7's Sein und Zeit and Closure.

Marcus. -> RE: X Files Movie: I Want to Believe (7/21/2008 1:12:33 AM)

You can watch the Closure scene here.

henny -> RE: X Files Movie: I Want to Believe (7/21/2008 4:02:52 AM)

I plan on seeing it if the reviews are OK.

I've never been a huge fan, so if it gets bad reviews I won't bother.

I was only ever a casual fan of the series -seeing an episode here and there, so I'm not familiar with the lore (although I did see the first film).

So I like the idea that it's a stand alone film that will not reference the past story lines much, as if it was I (and I think most people) probably wouldn't want to see it.

Plus it's nice to see Gillian Anderson in something again.

I've always thought she is really underrated as an actresses and I don't think she got the chance she deserved after X-Files.

I base most of this on her performance in the film "The House of Mirth," which I thought was amazing. You should all track that done if you haven't seen it.

Bas -> RE: X Files Movie: I Want to Believe (7/28/2008 12:25:00 AM)

It was pretty awful.

It wasn't even as good as one of the good episodes of the show.

Marcus. -> RE: X Files Movie: I Want to Believe (7/28/2008 1:36:33 AM)

aww [:(]
