LOL, thanks. But I can gross all of you out with what happened to my husband's intestines. (giggle) I can giggle now because he didn't die.

I wouldn't have known about MRSA but for my CNA job. I guess now it's becoming more wide spread. Now my kids get why I'm so big on handwashing and sanitizing. Kim Q

But I could no longer come to a hospital that was giving him second rate care and a doctor who went against everything my husband or I (when he wasn't able to make his own decisions) requested which was a direct violation of policy and patient rights. Wow. I'm glad he got well in spite of that dr. I've been in some really lousy ones and some good ones. I'm not sure if there are any great ones.

I'm glad everything worked out Tracy. We have a deck badly in need of replacement. Tracy, you are reminding me of the maintenance needed for a deck. We put brick pavers in in the front, that was a lot of work. Not sure how long they'll last or what maintenance is needed there. But the back would be such a huge area to do the pavers in; that'd be a lot of work. Actually I want the fake wood for a new deck, but that is very costly. So I don't know what we'll do. E called this evening; thankfully she is in a much better mood. Dee

I don't want to sand it, but the wood is at least 9 years old and has not been sealed so with that and us pressure washing it, as long as I wear a mask and am not sanding the entire thing, I feel ok with it. When I was pressure washing it, I took up some wood and so I need to either smooth that out or replace the wood. We do plan on replacing the entire deck within the next three years so I don't want to start replacing wood now.

Hubby says it feels more plasticy. He also just told me that some fake wood benches that were installed a few years ago at the scout camp were breaking and cracking last time he was there (a couple of weeks ago). So now I don't know. I wonder if there are different grades of that stuff. One of the hard things about replacing out deck with pavers is that our backyard slopes downward to our house, and the pavers would have to slope away from our house for drainage purposes, if that makes sense. In the front of our house we have a small deck; when that needs replacing I think I want that much at least done with fake wood; it is small enough to be more affordable. Dee

I know that my friends have one and they used it around their pool. But they did install it upside down because they liked the way the bottom looked better than the top. The only problem is that the bottom was not made for people walking on it in wet bare feet and is really slippery. But theirs looks like knew and it is 7 years old.

I have searched it until hubby told me I was overdoing it and the harmful chemicals do realease themselves as time goes on if they are not properly sealed, so I am a bit more confident. My sander has a bag to catch the dust so between that and a mask, and all other things taken into account like the age of the deck and the fact that we know it had been pressure washed at least once before, I feel ok. But I am due for my yearly checkup so when I go, I am going to have her draw blood and check for heavy metals. I think they can do that. I will explain why and she is a great doc and I am sure will do that for me.

They use a lot of chemicals in making computer chips and stuff, so they often ran blood tests for those kinds of things. Hope it all turns out O.K.

Thanks. I am sure it will turn out ok. Today I am having neighbor problems and since it wouldn't be a topic of this thread, I posted it in Home and Garden. Any advice is appreciated. Tracy

It's been kinda quiet around here hasn't it. Had not Brian been laid off we'd be on vacation right now. We would have just spent the night in Chicago with friends and head to just south of Minneapolis for tonight to spend the day with my brother and SIL. Then tomorrow morning or later tonight depending on how we felt, we'd drive up to just north of St Paul and East of Fargo ND for a week with my parents. BUT alas the layoff did a number on our savings account so we are staying home and Brian is working all weekend and a lot of ten hour days during the week. But he is taking off Thursday and Friday of this week and we are going to southern Indiana to see his parents and grandparents. Brian's grandparents are the only great-grands my kids have and they are both medically fragile. Grandpa has Parkinson's and Grandma has diabetes and a heart condition. So since Brian can only get a couple days off, since he was paid for 3 days vacation right before the layoff, we are going to go visit them for a few days. I don't like going to Minnesota when I can't spend at least a week with my family. It's such a long trip and to go up there for a couple of days just wouldn't be worth it. Brian is working today in fact. But it's double time pay as it is a Sunday AND he is going to get 4 hours overtime on today which essentially would make this ONE 12 hour shift pay like 3 days. I'm GOING to scrapbook today! I have so much to do and I'm MANY weeks behind on my scripture cards. I've done the studies each week - I just haven't been able to get the cards done each week. Hope everything is going well for everyone! Blessings, Garsy

I guess I was a bit wistful. I would rather be in Minnesota right now, but alas not this year. Blessings, Garsy

Do you ever check the weather there just to feel connected? Sometimes I check the Springfield MO weather for Dan, and when Brenda (Larry's oldest) lived in Spain I'd check their weather. Maybe that sounds kinda weird.

Especially with DD gone to visit IN and MN this month. She comes home tomorrow!

I'm glad I'm not the only one. :) I talk to Dan regularly by phone and IM but I still like to check the weather. are they hot? cold? is it raining? that sort of thing when I'm not talking to them.
