momma, so sorry. I have met with people who seem to be "concerned" with the "unchurched" but it all comes down to something. In my case, it was enrollment in the school which made money for the church. They weren't interested in the "unchurched" people who couldn't afford tuition, just those who seemed as if they could. I know you don't know me too well, but that was pretty much the end of my attending that church and I decided after that, I didn't want to belong to a church where we had to consult a board of elders or a rule book other than the bible for anything. I ESPECIALLY didn't want to be a part of a church where the rules were made up by a bunch of men with big heads who put themeselves above God and what he wanted. We didn't go looking for a church, ours found us in a very odd way. It is a half an hours drive from our house where we have many churches in walking distance, but after attending just one service at this church, we knew (well, mostly me since DH didn't belive in GOD) that this was it and I hate even leaving the building. In the end, I have a believing husband, a church that meets my needs and also teaches my kids how to be compassionate human beings and to keep their eyes on GOD. Not the book of rules. While I do believe having a church family is essential, I also believe that it is just as harmful to be a part of a church in which you have differences with. That could ruin your faith forever. Not to mention, God said, where two or more are gathered....... You don't need the building, but having that family to lean on when you need it helps out a whole lot. I am glad your daughter could look at that entire situation with such innocent eyes. And shame on the kids who invite just to get a treat. What is that church teaching their kids????

ORIGINAL: JuliaHop Kim-I hope that the your dh was able to get the care he needed last evening. Was he admitted? Hi, They didn't admit him since the culture on his stomach wouldn't even come back until Thursday. They drained it, removed a bunch of infected tissue and packed it. They sent him home on some powerful antibiotics. He's tired and in a little pain but doing O.K. We will know more about what the infection is from tomorrow morning. Thanks for asking, Kim Q

Kim, I did ask about him too here. Only reason I bring it up is so you don't think I was ignoring you. I think Dee asked about him too.

Yep, I was wondering how he was doing Kim. I hope the antibiotics do their job. I have my daughter who is 1.5 hours away from here at camp mad at me this evening. I think I'll email her tomorrow (well, later this morning after I've slept). I can't think of anything to say that would not make her more upset. Tomorrow probably won't be any better, but we'll see. Why's she mad? She wants her boyfriend to come visit her at camp, and we don't agree about the length of the visit. And I haven't put minutes on her cell phone for her. I emailed her the phone card number so she could call without borrowing a cell phone, but she doesn't like to use that. So we'll see. Dee

Hi everybody! Kim, how is DH today? Tomorrow you get the cultures back right? Hopefully they will get them in the morning. I am so restless today, but tired at the same time. I hate it when that happens. I went shopping and then came home and labled all of my kids school supplies. Apparently, for my little daughter, we have to put their name on every crayon and marker. So we will see how long they keep their supplies for. I am so sad to see my little one going off to school, but she is so excited. My son had a friend over today and she was showing him her backpack and all that was in it. I hope everybody is having a sunny and beautiful day. So far ours is holding up nicely.

You're doing good Tracy. I tend to forget to label stuff and have found myself doing it at the last minute. Dee

Hi everybody, Thanks to everyone for asking about dh. He does have the MRSA virus. They are treating it agressively with 3 antibiotics. It is slowly healing but looks much better than 2 days ago. Kath, I haven't been all here this week so I probably missed a bunch of you all asking. I wasn't feeling ignored. You all don't do that. Tracy, every marked and crayon! Wow! sounds like a lot of work and what happens when they take the paper off the crayons? Is your little one the last going off to school? They grow up so fast. Dee, sounds like your dd is being a bit picky for her own good. My dd wasn't even allowed, by the camp, to bring a cell phone. Well I hope you all are having a good day. My love to you all, Kim Q

I chose the school supplies. I did get eveything I needed when I was out shopping last week and they have been sitting in my livingroom ever since. I just want to get them out of here so I labled everything and put it all in their backpacks. Jake needed a new backpack because his was shredded by the end of the year. Kali is all about her backpack so since it is in ok condition, she will use it again this year, and Kay who is my last one off to school didn't have a backpack because while she was in preschool last year, I didn't bother with a backpack. What is the MSRA virus? It doesn't sound nice if it needs three antibiotics. Ick! But at least you didn't wait until tomorrow to find out.

MRSA is nothing to mess with. We have a young lady locally that missed the last 3 months of school last year with it. She is STILL not 100% but she also had other issues to begin with. I haven't talked to her mom in a while tho. I should call them. I just posted a new blog post regarding back to school shopping! Dee - DD will get over it and maybe, just maybe, one day she'll thank you. Tracy - I make stickers with my sticker maker or with labels off the computer for my kids' stuff. I DON"T label each and every crayon. But I do label markers. I have an incredible headache right now. I know its allergy related as the pollens are flying like crazy here and they are also cutting the hay locally and that ALWAYS gives me allergy issues! I will never figure out how I survived mowing season growing up on the farm! Blessings, Garsy

I think they only need to have all of their stuff labled for 4K and 5K quote:

My allergies have been getting better, but when we were in DC, they were horrible.

Mayo clinic on MRSA This is a link I found regarding MRSA - it's more of a MAJOR staph infection. My headache is dissipating but I stepped outside to put the van in the garage and I started sneezing again. I took an Alavert finally - trying to put that off as long as possible. I've got to order flea meds tomorrow too! The really bad season hasn't started yet so I NEED to be ready and think preventive this year! Blessings, Garsy

Garcy, have you tired a nasal spray and advil? One time, (a long time ago) it was so bad that my eyes were swollen shut, my nose would not stop running and I couldn't breathe. I took every pill I could for allergies and was just waiting for my heart to race so fast and have a heart attack. I totally could not take it so I called the pharmacist and told him everything I took and made him look up the doses so that I knew I didn't overdose. He was so good about it and I was at the point where more meds would have been bad, but he suggested Afrin. I didn't believe that would work, but my friend drove me to the store and I tried it. IT SO TOTALLY WORKED. I hated using it because I just don't like things going up my nose, but it worked. It worked so well that not only did the headache go away, but I could actually open my eyes enough to see. Just thought I would pass along that info.

I hope you're feeling better soon Garsy. Tracy, I think I would have chosen the school supplies too. I'm glad your hubby is getting better Kim. E works at a nursing home, so we've had some conversations about MRSA. Scary stuff. I just emailed E, asking her to call me. Hubby and I discussed the visit issue some more, and us being here and her there we have not so much control. What we're quibbling over is a few hours/part of a day. I may just make my opinions known and leave it at that. I wonder if I'm able to do that. The bigger concern is the attitude I got last night; I'm not sure if that was because she was upset with me, or if it's a bigger problem. We'll see. Kath, you're right, I'm not terribly concerned about her being upset with me. Good thing I guess, as it happens often enough. Kim, yes, I know what you mean about the phone. I just looked and the website doesn't mention whether or not cell phones are allowed for campers. It says no CD players or radios (I'm guessing that terminology hasn't been updated in a few years) or valuables. I know it's very common to not allow them at camp, for good reason. I don't know how they are handled amongst campers during the week at this particular camp. E is a staffer/counselor there, so she is allowed to have one, although I'd expect them to not be used by counselors while on duty. But I see it as much more of a want than a need. The thing is she was out of minutes when she left, but she never asked me to take her down to have minutes put on it, so I don't feel too sorry for her. Maybe she was trying to save the 75 cents a day she has to pay whether she's using it or not when she has minutes on it. How old is your youngest again Tracy? I'm starting to think about pre-school for my youngest. I wasn't going to send her. I know she'd absolutely love it though. Hubby is getting over-time again so I've been thinking about whether that could be added to the budget. The poor kid's life seems to consist of constantly hearing about how she's too small/too young or otherwise has to wait to do this, that, or the other. Dee

Dee, Kay is 4 and going to be in public school this year for 4K, BUT when she was 2, I sent her to a preschool that all of my kids went to. I wish I would have sent her for two years, but it was a drive and gas prices kept me away so she went to a preschool closer to the house, but didn't learn nearly as much as she did at her first school. How old is your little one? Here, they have to be 2 and 1/2 and potty trained. Kay didn't meet the age requirement until October, but since she was potty trained, they got a waiver for her. It was a great experience and only twice a week. I think that was great and I would highly recommend that to EVERYONE who is considering preschool. It was a great experience for all of my kids and gave me a couple of hours a week to get my banking and shopping done, and while I was pregnant, my Dr. Appointments in without having to find someplace for them to go.

R is four, and the public school doesn't offer anything for her. Which is fine. She'll be getting ready to go to regular K in another year. I'm not concerned about her not having any pre-school, I just know that she'd love it. K should be on her way to Colorado now; I dropped her off at church a little while ago. Dee

Of course she would love it. If you look, you can find some wonderful Christian preschool programs that are inexpensive and just a couple of hours twice a week. That is perfect, plus it gets both of you read to send her off to school full time.
