ORIGINAL: turtleman I have seen many posts mention that various ministers violate the basics of Christianity. Please spell out these essientials and how these preachers violate them. I will accept only scripture not opinon or what another person said. Afterall the Bible is the standard used to judge doctrines by. Part of the TOS for these forums is found here: http://forums.crosswalk.com/Range_of_Doctrines/m_1014/tm.htm, it pretty well spells out what are considered the basics of Christianity (at least for the purposes of the forums) by giving a "range of acceptable beliefs" But the basics are more succinctly stated in the Statement of Faith http://forums.crosswalk.com/m_2133/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm#2133 : We believe that there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe that the Bible is God's written revelation to man and that it is verbally inspired, authoritative, and without error in the original manuscripts. We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, death on the cross to provide for our redemption, bodily resurrection and ascension into heaven, present ministry of intercession for us, and His return to earth in power and glory. We believe in the personality and deity of the Holy Spirit, that He performs the miracle of the new birth in an unbeliever and indwells believers, enabling them to live a godly life. We believe that man was created in the image of God, but because of sin, was alienated from God. That alienation can be removed only by accepting through faith God's gift of salvation which was made possible by Christ's death. That (IMO) sums up the basics of Christianity (though I would add a couple for my personal statement). As to how some pastors violate those basics....for that i would need the pastor's name and what he teaches. Tim
