That's so sweet--all the little ones sleeping. Well, Canada's holiday is July 1st but I doubt I'll do anything. There's always a big event at the Forks with all sorts of entertainment, clowns, etc. And fireworks at 11:00 (any earlier and it's too bright out). But there will be no place to park and I'm not in any shape to be doing a lot of walking. In past years I've made foods to reflect the Canadian flag but not this year. Because the holiday is tomorrow, Tuesday, a lot of places are closed already today. I did walk to and from the dentist's today. It's about three short city blocks. Then I went to the pharmacy to fill a prescription and buy a few things. Amazingly, doing all that didn't wipe me out like I expected. Yesterday I was totally done in having done less--though I was out longer. The word from the dentist is that I have an abscessed tooth. So he's giving me penicillin and at the end of July he'll clean it out, fill it and crown it. He said the pain will go away sometime tomorrow. Good! It's killing me! I needed 2 Tylenol 3 to sleep last night because of the pain. Bill and Ginny, my Rosenberg books came--faster than the books I ordered a week before! And I found a couple of Internet sites that have diagrams of Ezekiel's temple. I'm going to keep them beside me as I read that passage in Ezekiel so I can better picture what he's saying.

Maggie, that's cool you found the diagram. Happy reading! Barb, I miss kiddie naptime. Happy Canada Day Maggie! (tomorrow) My daughter was mentioning that earlier today; I think it was on the little calendar she was looking at. I remembered that we visited the Vancouver aquarium on Canada once day if I recall correctly. Our plans for the fourth; not much. Hubby has the day off I think. We'll watch the fireworks in the evening. Dee

That's cool that you were in Vancouver for Canada Day once! 26 years ago I was in Washington DC on July 4th. The streets were clogged with people! We knew there would be spectacular fireworks but it was a hot day and by the end of it we felt really icky and just settled down into a low-grade motel. My mouth is throbbing so I can't sleep but I'm so tired.

Good Tuesday morning, everyone! . . . . looks like I missed posting in here yesterday, tho I did get subbed to it. It was a busy day, with gym, grocery shopping, sewing, etc. Got a lot accomplished, tho, so that was good. 4th of July . . well, it was a tough decision cuz I really wanted to be in 2 places at once & haven't figured out a way to do that yet, but we've both chosen to spend it as we have the last several years, with my church group. I'm so very pleased Bill has become a part of this group in spite of not going to church, and in fact WANTS to spend time with them, so it just seems like it's where we need to be. I may have his niece & her family over on Saturday for that fried chicken dinner I offered to fix for them for helping us lay the floors. That's yet to be finalized, but it's in the works. I don't know yet if I'm going to have Garrett today . . they were supposed to bring him yesterday, tho said they didn't know what time, but they never showed up. So really don't know if his grandpa made it home with him, or if he's still at his grandma's. Guess I'll find out when they call or show up.

Hey there, Barb! . . . no, I've not had him since then, and still don't have him this morning. Guess I'll call there in a bit and see what's going on, tho on Tuesday's, since I don't go to the gym, I really don't worry about what time they bring him.

Maggie, I just went through the whole abcess thing with one of my teeth. I had already had the root canal/cap thing done to it, so he had no choice except pulling it. He gave me azithromycin. Now I'm dealing with swimmer's ear on the other side. Whoever told me I'd start falling apart when I hit 50 might've been right.

Yeah, Bill, it's a pain. I have allergies to a lot of antibiotics. The only one that is for sure safe is penicillin. quote:
Maggie, Happy July 1st to you! Do you call it Independence Day also? Hope your tooth is feeling better today. Thanks, Barb. No, we call it Canada Day. We've been calling it that since the late 1960s. Before that we called it Confederation Day because it's the day we became a confederation. We've never had or wanted "independence." Unlike the US, we never fought against the British and have always enjoyed our link to Britain. Queen Elizabeth is my monarch as much as she is agapetos'. No. My tooth is not any better today, though the dentist promised it would be. |

Whoever told me I'd start falling apart when I hit 50 might've been right. Hey Bill, I'm 54. Tooth problems are the pits. And mine are literally falling apart. Course I've had them longer than one dentist told me when I was 19. He said I would lose all my teeth by the time I was 30. Have lost about 4 but have the rest. Yesterday, the tooth that had a cavity decided to break apart. Some of it is hanging on and it's beginning to hurt. My dental visit is July 11th wonder if I can get in sooner. Let's see the last time I saw the dentist he drilled for an hour on another tooth that fell apart and then filled it. Since then I can't eat on that side of my mouth without it hurting. The tooth he fixed is ok but all that drilling made the tooth next to it sore and when food is chewed on top of it it is like a root is exposed and ouch it hurts. Bill, congratulations on being a Sunday school teacher of 1st and 2nd graders and loving it. That age is a good age to tell of Jesus. They are usually very teachable, open and not yet resistant to the Word. Good fertile ground for seed to grow. Has that been your experience? Someone asked what the theme for VBS will be. The theme is Creation and how God has always loved us and it shows in his creation. There will be crafts to go along with the theme, a bar b cue of hamburgers and hot dogs, a story (my teaching time), and games. We are going to the parks in town and having it on a Saturday from 9 till 2. The idea is to go out and reach the kids in the neighborhoods around the parks and for them to experience learning about God in a relaxed fun filled atmosphere. Maggie hope your tooth feels better soon. Leah I love your responses to everyone. You are always very thoughtful and kind. Barb, I love your posts and reading about your life. Bill, I like you coming on and posting. You are usually brief but you add so much. Dee, thank you for all your kindness and in noticing me. Cassandra, where are you girl? We need an update on your uncle. Take care everyone. I work for 3 hours today and am off at 11:00 then have the rest of the week for vacation. Hey! Got a doctor's appointment in St. Louis and my daughter is driving. I hate driving in the big city. Plus it will be daughter/mother time. We plan on going to Red Lobster before my appointment. It is just a check up but a required one. Update on Dylan: he gained another 5 ounces, they are taking him off his breathing tube, and he lifted his head. Doing great. Please keep the prayers up for him though with him being as tiny as he is he needs prayer cover.

Good Wen. Morning Everyone Suppose to be a warm, humid, stormy day today. So far it's nice out there, with a temp. of 71 degree's. The sun is out also. Dew points are up to 60 tho. The grass and flowers could use some rain, so it's a good thing. Bill, you are correct. Turning 50 was the PITTS. And things do start falling apart. Maggie, sorry to hear you're tooth is still causeing you pain. Hope them meds kick in soon. Nothing worse than a toothach. It's always intresting to hear the History of things. Altho I always got low grade's in History. Guess I was'ent intrested then. Hope you had a great Canada Day! Ginny, I told my dentist, on my last visit, I hated my teeth. The two upper front teeth have caps on them, and they don't match right. Then I am missing the fourth upper tooth, which make's it hard to break out that BIG smile I need some bridge work on that missing tooth and another lower one...just can't afford it yet. He told me I have good teeth, and should'ent feel that way. I think almost every tooth in my mouth has a filling in it, and I lost count how many have had root canels in them. I don't think them are "nice" teeth. But I have to say, he made me feel better about them. Glad to hear you enjoy hearing about my life. It's rather BOREING at time's, IMO anyways. Sent up a prayer for Baby Dylan. Glad to hear he is improveing daily. Well I guess I'm haveing a big cook-out on Friday. Invited my dad along with the birthday girl, My sister Pam, and her husband. Then I invited two neices with their husbands and my siter-in-law and brother-in-law. Also my three older kids whith their families. Think there will be 20 adults and 8 children. So tomorrow I need to hit the grocery store and get all the foods. Then I have to make potato salad and tuna salad tomorrow night. Friday I have to make a sham torte, and fruit salad, and press the burgers into patties. Pam is gonna parboil the brats my dad is buying. Told everyone we would eat about 4PM. That way we could all get to the fireworks by dusk.

Good news about Dylan, Ginny! Barb, Canada Day for me was low-key. I wasn't feeling well so I spent most of the day in bed, sometimes reading, sometimes sleeping. I got up at 8:00 p.m. and went back to bed at midnight. Your plans for Independence Day sound great! My tooth is still really bothering me. I couldn't even take the aspirin out of my mouth this morning for my cereal because it hurt too much right away. I've never had a root canal so I'm nervous. I don't even like fillings and one time I came totally undone in the dentist's chair. He's probably dreading this procedure with me as much as I am. I love history. I wish I knew more. Ds1 is VERY knowledgeable about history and I always envy that. Bill, I started the first Rosenberg book. So far it's good, though he spends a lot of time setting up each scene and character. I'm presuming it will move faster once all those introductions are out of the way.

Good Thursday morning, everyone. We got some thunderstorms last night and cooled things back down a bit -- to a cool 66 degrees. in fact. Of course, it's a little wet to be able to go outside & really enjoy it, but sure am glad it's cooler. It got to the 90s yesterday, tho that was the first hot day we'd had in a week or so. Barb, sounds like those young'uns are keeping you busy. Are you going to have that many all the time? I don't have Garrett again this week, tho his daddy told me once again that he wouldn't be sending him to Grandma's anymore after this week -- we'll see Ginny, thanks for your comments yesterday -- missed you posting this morning -- oh yeah, you're on vacation . . . good for you, girl! Hope you enjoy every minute of it! Bill, I like your new avatar -- so cool! I finally got an old phot of me scanned & put up, but I want to do a family one soon. I really don't think we have one of all 14 of us, but I have one hanging on the wall of 10 of us (I was the baby) . . might do that one. I'm off to clean the church this morning, then to the gym providing I don't talk myself out of it. And I just got a call from a friend who's needing a fast repair job on a formal, so need to do that this afternoon., then back to the jacket it will be.

What is a sham torte? Barb, that was real nice of you to help out with the grandkids especially after the busy day you had. Did you get enough sleep last night? Oh strawberries! I love them and yummy fresh peas. My mouth is watering. Leah, hope you get to see the little guy today. And good luck on getting the formal and the jacket done. Did you make it to the gym? Bill, I wasn't brought up in a church at least not after I was 10. Dad decided it wasn't for his family. And even when we went to church all I remember is the dressing up with icky itchy dresses and patten leather shoes. Dad and mom didn't read the Word with us or pray with us or talk about God. I do remember when I was 5 and heard in church the pastor talk about John 3:16. That scripture awaken the Holy Spirit's work in me and was the start of my relationship and growth with God. But church family? No didn't have one. I slept in this morning. It was at least 7:00 before I got up. Went to a garage sale even with the rain and bought three children's books for my granddaughter and my two new granddaughters (my oldest's girlfriend's children). My daughter and I had a great trip to St. Louis. When we get together we always socialize the whole 2 hours of the trip and the time goes so fast. We went to Red Lobster and had a feast. Since we had gotten our tax incentive I splurged and got shrimp scampi, coconut shrimp, and **** alfredo, plus appetizers of lobster stuffed mushrooms and calamari with vegetables, and of course there were the garlic cheese biscuits Red Lobster is famous for and a salad and a baked potato. My dd had the lobster bisque soup and a lunch special item. Afterwards I prepared a doggie bag to take home to hubby so he could enjoy the meal too. He got most of the crab alfredo and 3 coconut shrimp, a biscuit and the rest of the calamari and vegetables. Then we found a great Christian book store in the mall behind the restaurant. I bought a book on Spiritual Warfare by Derek Prince. My daughter got a devotional book to do with her boys. We will visit this store again next time I go to my doctor's for my set checkups. We were early in getting to the doctor's office and had to wait an hour before I saw him. I went in. He asked me how I was doing. I said great. He said see you in 3 months a brief 3 to 4 minutes of his time. My daughter said why do you have to keep going to see him every 3 months and I said because that is what he wants and he's in charge of my medicine so I have to do what he wants. I know I need my meds. I do believe in chemical imbalances and I know how much the meds have helped me in being balanced. Before I was on them there were too many highs and lows in my mental state. We made it home by 7:00 and dd went to the carnival with her youngest. Hubby babysit the kids while we were gone. He preferred that to driving me up there. DD didn't mind she and I enjoy this time together. Her oldest and my son had already gone to the carnival. My granddaughter was at our house yesterday too and now the house which was dirty is an even greater wreck and I haven't started on the cleaning. Guess I best get off. Hubby asked for food just as I was beginning my post. Gonna go fix him some ham and cheese sandwiches. Ginny Dee, where are you? Have I missed your posts?

Sorry to hear your tooth is still bothering you. I have had many root canels. They really are not that bad. Hardest thing is keeping your mouth open that long. LOL I think, finally this morning, that the tooth is maybe settling down. Maybe not. I was able to eat breakfast without pain and didn't have to put that aspirin back in my mouth. Now, an hour later or so, I'm having second thoughts. The thing is that dh and I leave tomorrow for a week at the lake. I don't want to be having problems with it there. Ginny, I'm glad you had a good time with your daughter in St. Louis. Ds1 comes home from Europe this evening. I'm planning to make his favourite meal: Lasagna, Caesar's Salad and Garlic Bread. I was chatting with him this morning and told him of my dinner plans. He said he couldn't find a decent Caesar's Salad there. They had all sorts of salads that were good but their Caesar's weren't. And then he told me that MY Caesar's Salad is the best salad ever. Isn't he sweet?

Ginny, A sham torte is made up with egg whites, sugar, cream of tarter, bakeing soda, salt, vanilla and vineger. You preheat the oven, and turn it off, and set the torte in there till cooked. You top it off with real whipped cream and strawberries. Yummy We got our stimulus check and put it in our property esscrow at the bank. So the end of July we will have enough to pay the taxes. Bummer...cause I really would have liked to spend it. My granddaughter and great neice found the strawberries and the bag of pea's. Funny little girls had the bag of peas on the floor just eating away. I finally stopped them thinking I did'ent want them to get sick. Me and my daughter had to take picture's of them first tho Maggie, How long has your son been in Europe? Nothing beats moms cookin

Have a good time with your son Maggie and yes it sweet to was scompliment you on the best Caesar salad maker. Bet that was a sight, the girls chowing down on the peas. Thanks for letting me know what a sham torte is. It does sound yummy. I bought some strawberries this afternoon and will be coating them with chocolate. Got a fruit tray, some olives, mixings for a pasta salad, soda, all the stuff I was asked to bring to the family get to together this weekend. My middles son's birthday is Saturday. He will be 24. Leah, I renewed my license this morning. Didn't have any problem. Thanks for the foreknowledge I needed my birth certificate. I had it in hand when they asked for it. Bought a dryer this afternoon before going grocery shopping. They will deliver it on Monday. Now I definitely have to get the house clean. But right now I am very tired and am going to go take a power nap. I started on the kitchen this morning so at least I've started. Ginny

Ginny, I haven't had Garrett all week -- still staying with his grandma. Congratulations on the new dryer, btw. That's great! Sounds like you're expecting all your kids in for the holidays . . . sounds like lots of fun. I'm so glad you got to enjoy the day with your daughter and and wonderful meal at Red Lobster -- love their cheese biscuits! Lobster, too I didn't get the dress until just a while ago. There was a whole mix up about where she was supposed to deliver it . . . she delivered it to the Church of God instead of Assembly of God where I'd told her I would be. Actually, she thought she was looking for a Baptist church . . . plus, as small as our town is, I was shocked that she didn't know the different churches and where they are located. There is no Baptist church anywhere near our church . . I'd been very succinct about the directions, AND giving her the name of the church . . . | | |
