I'm curious to know how this turned out.

Things are on the positive swing atm. I don't feel like giving specifics, but I do appreciate all who attempted to help..

we do have policies in place on who can sign what and we also have church discipline procedures...

we didn't put the matter to a vote on whether or not to retain our pastor..we prayed for a set amt of time and all agreed it was a given to keep him here...and the discipline given was accepted and we are moving forward.

God Bless

Cool. Thanks for the information - as complete as you are allowed to share.

My experience, over the years, has been that these sort of things rarely turn out well. From what you had shared, this was not a, "Ooops, I didn't know that wasn't the way I was supposed to do it," sort of situation. And that makes it tough all over.

Thanks again.

Praise God that things at your Church are settling down and can get back to the service of God.

I have dealt with many Churches over the years who were having problems, some that were having "Pastor" problems or some with other internal turmoil. If the seituation is approached in a rasoned Biblical manner it nearly always works out for the best.

Sometimes no one has to go, sometimes the Pastor has to go, and sometimes some of the congregants have to go; but in the end the gathering is better off.

The run up to setteling these problems is always worse than the actual setteling. As sthe devil gets in the middle and rumor, inuendo, confusion, and outright lies run rampant. We serve a mighty loving gracious God, and when we let him be in control; things will always work out for the best.

Thanks
RC

As long as a Churches bylaws lines up with scripture, then it is fine.

If their bylaws do not line up with scripture with-in reason, then they are only additional laws created by men only. Then they are as Jesus as said;

JESUS said: As it is written Mark 7:7

7 They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.'

NIV

The Pharisees were also church leaders that had bylaws too. And Jesus preached against them, because they did not line up with scripture "They Did Not Practice what they preached either.

Thats it I suppose. :)

great point...thankfully our bylaws have Scriptures included in each section that describes the point being discussed.

I agree 100% the Word of God is to be our foundation...and am finding that increasingly hard to find in many churches.

Many of today's churches seem to feel a need for a watered down gospel...and it saddens me deeply

Since you have scripture to back up your bylaws, then he maybe did slip up in his approach. I know that the poster that the only authority is Christ's authority is correct, but with scripture to back it up it leaves little question that the by laws were authorized. I would also point out that many by laws are for the good of the church as a whole, so disregarding them is to disregard the church as a whole. Even pastors are to submit to higher authority as established before hand.

My point is that we need to be very careful about adding laws/rules to the Bible and Christians.

Jesus has talked about that by telling the Pharisees that they lay upon men heavey burdens, and yet they do not left a fingure to remove them.

God Bless :)

When a man becomes pastor of a church that already has rules and bylaws, he accepts those by taking the position. He may lead the church to revise those but he is being a dictator - not an undershepherd of Christ - by changing them without due process and through godly leadership.

BTW, Pharisees were more like ungodly pastors that ruled others lives by force of their position than they were like laymen within a church. So you've described "pastors" that become dictators after taking a position of godly leader.

(Staying to Gods Words) What I mean fro example, if a church says a woman must have long hair, or a man must have a beard, or a person must be a member of the church, those sorts of things. Jesus words comes first, not the churches rules.

God Bless
