Is Jesus simply a means of forgiveness, yet salvation is based on our obedience to the law, or is Jesus the full atonement and justification.

I've made up my mind about this. I'm just curious as to what you guys believe.

Here's a "personal" opinion. No doubt it will be refuted by others quoting favourite verses from the Bible.

Jesus is the Son of God. Through His death and ressurection we have a means to be forgiven by God and to be with God. We can choose to accept this or not. Our "salvation" as you put it, depends on our choice.

The way to do this is to live a life that, within the confines of our very weak human nature, is as Christ-like as we can possibly make it.

And now for the Bible quotation:

"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6

We are saved by faith alone, through faith alone, in Christ Jesus alone. Works/Law is contrasted with faith repeatedly and we are told that we are not justified by works in any way. Therefore, we are made right with God by faith, not by faith and our works; hence, faith alone.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Here's the shorthand version...

Our DEPRAVITY
God's IMPUTATION
Jesus' PROPITIATION
Our SALVATION
