but alas, the only food or drink that I've consumed yet today is a banana and some filtered water.

I read a novel where a character (English) said: "A banana and a water biscuit are all a sane and sensible person needs in the middle of the day."

I may need that Baptist nap, too, or more brain food...
first glance I read it as water buffalo, then correctly as biscuit, but it took few moments to recall what water biscuit is even tho' (English) should have tipped me off sooner.....
and I had fish (salmon) for supper last night ...
guess he hasn't filtered thru yet...

The article was very interesting, shar-mar. It's sad the way the man died though.
I agree.

I guess it's true then . . . to some men, it really IS (or what isn't) what's on the inside of a woman that counts most.

Did you see the "Christian Lion" video I posted in the Lion's Den?
Oh I'm glad you brought this up again!

I spent several minutes this morning watching and re-watching that video.

I also found THIS, which you may enjoy reading.

Almost missed the article. Thanks, it was great.

It's when he wants you to add things that you might want to worry.

Thanks for linking that article, Sharon-Marie. It was great! I'd seen the video and wondered what the story was. Now I know.

My pleasure, Lioness!

Interestingly, the event actually happened back in 1969; but apparently, from snippets that I've read this morning, this story was in the news recently. Although I didn't realize that; in fact, I had not heard of this story at all until this morning when Kerr posted the video link in your thread.

And to add further to the story, there's a book out now about Christian.

That book is a movie, Shar-Mar.

I hadn't realized that it wasn't a recent story. See how styles come back? Those guys in the video looked normal to me.

Oh sure. Show me that at least between the two of us, that you at least know the difference between a book and a movie.

I had a hard time deciding when I first saw it this morning. I finally chose upon it being not a recent thing because of the color quality of the video.

(not book)

I got a clue by the word "Starring".

Ha! I've watched that video half a dozen different times and STILL never thought about it being old.

I think we're pretty evenly matched yet.

Well, if you're going to get all nit-picky on me and go by actual definitions of words . . .

Sheesh.

Well, apparently some people already are pretty lightened-up about it.

I was in a conversation here somewhere, several months ago, where a poster was arguing that profanity wasn't really profane because if he assigned a definition to a word, then that's what it meant; regardless of what the word was actually defined as and/or regardless of how the general population defined it.

Are you re-doing the entire bathroom? How fun!

Bathfitters does a makeover in one day. A new tub which fits over the old one, new surround (even around the window over the tub, which has always been a problem), and new fixtures.

I talked to several people in the area who used them, and everyone gave good reviews.

How much tub space is lost in the process?

Now, his story is to be told in a new book, written by the Australian John Rendall who, along with his friend Ace Berg, bought Christian from Harrods in 1969.

Apparently, according the article shar-mark linked, there will be a new book.

I researched to see if the new book is out yet and I can't find it, so my guess is he isn't done. He wrote a book about the experience before, but it has been out of print for about 30 years.

gotta know...I'm sure the tub insert would make the tub smaller, but is it a big difference?

About 1/2 inch, side to side.

We're trying to decide between bathfitter and having ours refinished right now.

We tried the refinishing and it was a miserable failure. It was chipping off and breakng away within six months. It was still under warranty, so they re-did it, but the results were the same. This is consistent with what I was told by other people.

People I know who used bathfitters says the tub/surround look new after years.

Of course it costs 10 times as much.

If you may be moving, you might try the re-finishing.

OK I have my answer.

It's ok. Both of you are getting old and you need a young person like me to help you out once in a while.
