If you're both really set on getting married in his church then
you or him should get in contact with the priest who promised to call back (but didn't.)
It maybe wise to find another priest if the other is too busy.

Are you both Catholic?
If not, that could be that the priest in question has an issue with marrying couples that
aren't of the same religion... many men of the cloth won't marry a couple if they aren't of the same religion/faith... my former minister wouldn't marry people of different religions(I'm speaking of religions that aren't in agreement with the essentials of Christian doctrine) and he wouldn't marry a believer and a non-believer.

In another post, you mentioned your husband.

Is this the same man, or are you married to one man and wanting to marry another?

where we live there is not many catholics, i am baptist, but the priest dont have a problem with that , he is used to it. i think he might have a problem with us living together. but we are keeping it pure and have been.
he is the only priest for two of the towns near us. and my husband, the guy i want to marry, says its very important for him to be married in his church and that is fine with me , i just wish the priest would call us and let us know something, we tried 2 and a half years ago, but he did not call us back he just remembered when he saw us and asked my fiance if i was the same girl he called about before, its making us so mad. we dont know what to do.

If I were the priest I would not marry a couple who were living together, either[;)]

But, what you really need to do is to call the church office and make an appointment with the parish secretary. That way you will be on his schedule.

Has it occured to ou that mabe your referring to your boyfriend as your husband has people so confused that maybe that has something to do with why no one will return your phone calls?

What Kate (PS103)said....plus it is my understanding that the Catholic church generally frowns on marrying a Catholic and a non-Catholic. Some will do it only if the non-Catholic vows to raise their kids Catholic.

You're Not being rude, by pursuing the issue of getting married(show him you mean business!) ... maybe he needs to know about the purity thing???

I know this is off topic, but have you and your boyfriend discussed how you'll raise your kids? Are you OK with raising them Catholic if that is what he wants?

Keep bugging the priest. I mean - you're trying to legitimize this relationship! Don't worry about whether or not you're being a pest. BE a pest.

If he won't give you his reasons for not marrying you, then I don't know. But if he comes out and refuses to, you'll have to look at other options.

I'm confused. You said that you tried to call the priest 2 1/2 yrs. ago, and are mad that he hasn't called back. Why haven't you tried again during the 2 1/2 yrs? If you really did want to get married, why have you waited the 2 1/2 yrs. for a return phone call? Usually a Catholic priest won't marry a couple unless they are both Catholic, and usually ministers/priests won't marry a couple living together.

For the record, HERE is information about marriage in the Catholic Church.

You need to call the church and ask who is in charge of marriage prep and make an appointment with that person--it probably won't be the priest if he is that busy.

They will set you up in pre-marriage classes.
