_CANCELLED_ -> avatar measurements 145x145 (6/16/2008 7:48:32 PM)

That must not be pixels b'c I made my av 145x145 pixels and it said it was too large. What is the measurement in pixels that's allowed? Thanks very much. [:)]

ta_mosquito -> RE: avatar measurements 145x145 (6/16/2008 7:53:35 PM)

Yes, 145x145 pixels.

Did you make it less than 10 kb as well?

_CANCELLED_ -> RE: avatar measurements 145x145 (6/16/2008 8:13:15 PM)

Not sure about that. It has no animation so I'd assume it was less but I'll check. Thank you.

_CANCELLED_ -> RE: avatar measurements 145x145 (6/16/2008 8:19:27 PM)

I guess I don't know how to tell. All I found is 9.23 KB (9454 bytes).

_CANCELLED_ -> RE: avatar measurements 145x145 (6/16/2008 9:50:37 PM)

Ok, I'm convinced that there's something wrong with the site's settings or something. My current av has more on it and is bigger than my last, yet, it wouldn't allow my last--said it was too big. Strange. Guess I'll just stick with this one.

Ps103 -> RE: avatar measurements 145x145 (6/16/2008 10:37:46 PM)

Your other one was the cat one--right?

This one ma be larger in size, but I am pretty sure the other was a larger file size. Higher resolution makes a larger file size.

No, that was my first one. The one that I'm speaking of now is the lower part of my current one. I was trying to put just the 'Won by One' part in without the picture and in 145x145 but it said 'too large'. So just for the heck of it--to see if there was some kind of glitch--I tried the entire pic--as you see it now--and it worked. LOL Go figure. [:D]

_CANCELLED_ -> RE: avatar measurements 145x145 (6/16/2008 11:02:29 PM)

"Higher resolution...." It just dawned on me what you're saying. After I shrunk this down to fit, I noticed it doesn't look as clear and good. Guess that's the answer, it was the resolution. Thank you.

Ok, I REALLY need help getting an avatar. I have done everything, I have even made some of my pics as small as 75x75 with a size of only 3 or 4KB and it still says my file is too large. Every single picture I try to download says file is too large, even if it is very small. What am I doing wrong?

Same here. I finally got one at 88x100 and it said "uploaded successfully" but it's not showing up. What do I do?

_Cinderella_ -> RE: avatar measurements 145x145 (7/21/2008 3:41:02 PM)

Maybe you did not push the right buttons at the bottom. Some people have to push "apply" and then "ok" and some people only have to push "ok." It is weird.

You need 50 posts before you can have a custom avatar

Sophie11 -> RE: avatar measurements 145x145 (7/21/2008 4:43:45 PM)

I'm starting to think I am not going to be able to get one uploaded no matter what I do. I have about 20 different avatar photos I've tried, all of them supposedly in line with the 145x145 and 10KB, and none work. It always says the file is too large. It does the same with my profile photo too, which is supposed to allow a larger photo. I can't even get a small one to take.

Did you try using one of the avatars offered by this website? Did they hang up for you too?

I haven't tried that yet. I will though just to see what happens. I wanted to put a pic of my new kitten on here, or at least one of the more unique avatars I have on my pc, so I haven't tried the ones the site offers yet.

Sophie11 -> RE: avatar measurements 145x145 (7/21/2008 7:02:33 PM)

Well now that worked. But why will it not allow me to upload my own if it fits all criteria?

Kath -> RE: avatar measurements 145x145 (7/21/2008 7:06:19 PM)

Hmm, I don't know. Now that you successfully got one to load maybe you could try one of your own now.

Sophie11 -> RE: avatar measurements 145x145 (7/21/2008 7:15:27 PM)

Just tried em all again. No luck. I have many that are small, only 100x100 and around 3 or 4KB, it still says "file is too large" for every one I try. I don't get it. How does everyone else get theirs?

Jenny-Fair -> RE: avatar measurements 145x145 (7/21/2008 7:35:32 PM)

Are you saving it as Jpeg? I remember once I forgot to change the file type and it wouldn't work.

Sophie11 -> RE: avatar measurements 145x145 (7/21/2008 8:33:08 PM)

Yeah I tried jpeg and gif. Nothing works.

Jenny-Fair -> RE: avatar measurements 145x145 (7/21/2008 8:36:10 PM)

Weird! And it actually gives you the error message? Because if you don't click 'apply' and then 'ok' they won't work, either...but you don't get an error message, you just get no avatar.

Sophie11 -> RE: avatar measurements 145x145 (7/21/2008 8:44:42 PM)

I can't even get far enough to worry about whether or not to hit the apply or ok button. In the small upload window where you browse your pc for pics, every time I select one and hit ok it gives me the error message "file is too large". I can't make sense of it. It is weird! Has anyone else ever had this problem?

ta_mosquito -> RE: avatar measurements 145x145 (7/21/2008 8:48:26 PM)

As a last resort (err, or as a resort, maybe not the last one), try closing your browser, rebooting your computer, and doing it again.

Sophie11 -> RE: avatar measurements 145x145 (7/21/2008 8:52:14 PM)

Well, I'll give it a shot but today isn't the first time I have tried to upload a picture. And I have shut down and restarted my computer multiple times during that time. But who knows, I think maybe I'm just cursed! [sm=crystreams.gif]
